Mission: Episode 15 - Emanation
Location: Rigel II - Avondale Production Facility
Timeline: MD130 1900hrs

ON:

Taking a welcome break from checking things over on the new ship before it's exected departure in a few days Mimi sat in a replimat on the avondale shipyard enjoying a hot mug of tea, even though she was trying to relax she had a Padd in hand and was still looking through specs, cargo requisitions, the quarters assignments of incoming crew and a myriad of other things.

Having spent the time back from their mission on the Schofield and after the incidents on the freighter which thankfully had been kept more or less on the down low Abbey found it fair to say her goodbyes. She wouldn't be leaving with the Galileo this time or in the future, for she was destined to work else were. She had been cleared for active duty on the precursor she worked for Starfleet intelligence on Earth. Something about her experience in another universe being invaluable to the corp.

It hadn't taken long for Abbey to track down Mimi, her longtime friend and all-time crush. She stood a few meters from where she sat and had thoughts to leave her be but she knew just leaving would be worst. Walking over purposely she greeted the Nekomi. "Hello, Mimi"

Mimi's ears twitched at a familiar sounding voice, she looked up. "Abbey!" She said smiling widely."Where have you been all this time?"

Pulling out the chair opposite Mimi she sat down before answering, her hands in her lap. "I have been busy, more interviews with Starfleet." She said sheepishly. "What about you how are you doing?" The question being directed towards Mimi helped to lighten Abbey's mood.

"Interviews with starfleet?" Mimi asked. "What kind of interviews?"

"Medical and Job Interviews" Abbey replied cooly as she waved the waiter for his attention. "Have you already eaten? I'm starving" She stated without looking at the woman.

"Job interviews?" Mimi asked a little surprised. "You are not coming with us?"

She nodded slowly "I am going to be joining the Fleets Intelligence Corp" Abbey let it linger for a moment before adding, "I think its the best thing with recent events."

"Intelligence? you do not look like a spy to me Abbey, you are a fighter, you should be staying with us." Mimi said, she didn't want Abbey one of few people she called a friend to leave.

"Its kind of one of those jobs offers I don't or can't refuse" She admitted glumly the drink and sandwich she ordered arriving "It's not just about being a spy and besides I will be working for counter-intelligence working with Starfleet against any future mirrored events." She sighed her appetite gone, "I don't want to leave you."

"Have you told the rest of the crew yet?" She asked. "I think they would feel the same way."

She shooked her head "No, I can't get an audience with the Captain or Commander Ban but I'll be speaking to Luke later today. I think they're the only people who really ought to know, except for you of course" She pulled the crust of her sandwich and began to eat it.

Mimi smiled. "Thank you for telling me, I am glad we got the chance to say goodbye."

Abbey slowed her eating "Me too, my... transition into this universe has been. Very difficult to say the least and you've made it easier, even if you did put me on my arse once" She finished what was in her mouth and looked at Mimi, god she was beautiful but Abbey knew this would be the last time she'd see those eyes. "So, ur, what have you been up to?"

"Lots of work." Mimi replied fiddling with the Padd on the table. "Specs, crew quarters, cargo, all sorts."

Abbey observed Mimi and placed her hands on the table. "Mimi, forgive me if I'm wrong but are you hiding something from me? You seem a little distracted."

Mimi shook her head. "This is the first chance I have had to sit down all day and even now my body still wants to work on things." Though it was true there were a few things she hadn't told Abbey about.

“All work and no play Mimi, you’ll burn yourself out if you don’t take some time out” she said almost pleadingly. “You have so many luxurious and distractions in the universe it’s a wonder you want to work at all! If I could I’d spend my entire life in the holodeck.”

"That would not be fair on the rest of the crew, I get enough time to play." The slightest smirk crept onto Mimi's face as she spoke. "But there is a lot of work to do to take a ship on her first trip, play will have to wait for now."

Abbey felt reassured when she saw Mims lips turn into a smile no matter how small. “I guess you’re right, I suspect I’ll be kept too busy to be able to play as much as well. At least it’s something more suited to my needs and abilities.”

"You will let me know where you are so we can still talk right?" Mimi asked.

"I can tell you that I'll be on Earth for a while but I honestly don't know what ill be doing or where I'll be sent. I'll try and contact you or Luke as much as I can but I imagine that my actual doings will be kept secret even maybe from me until I need to know" She said sadly. "I know they don't exactly trust me yet but I hope they come to trust me like you do"

Miimi nodded. "I had a similar problem, I was an alien no one had ever seen before or heard of. Not many people would talk to me or let me join them."

"Well screw them!" She said smiling again now in an attempt to lighten the mood. "They obviously didn't see the beauty and potential you had,
now you're a badass starfleet officer kicking ass and taking names across not just one but two universes! Hell put me on my ass"

"Only because you let me." Mimi countered.

"I wouldn't disrespect you like that, you beat me fair and square. If I let you beat me would I have a crush on you? I think not" She said Abbey realising that she just announced her feeling in public, a very public area. Her cheeks grew a rosy red. "Sorry, I didn't mean to say that quiet to loud."

Mimi laughed. "Do not worry, me and John get a few strange looks when we are together."

"John?" She asked curiously, this was the first time she had heard that name and wondered who he was to Mimi. Even though she already had several of her own answers, and questions to follow.

"He is my... boyfriend." Mimi said, she was very unsure how Abbey would take it.

Abbey hurt stung but in the short time it took for Mimi to repsond she had mentally prepared herself for that exact answer. She had considered demanding for his location so she could challenge this John to the death but she realised that Mimi was never really hers, to begin with, and she was leaving. "Are. you. happy with him?" She asked unsure of herself.

"Yes." Mimi replied, she was still trying to figure out how Abbey was taking it. "He is a very good man."

She sat back in her chair, "Well he's a very lucky man. One for winning your affection and two that I don't hunt him down and cut off his manhood!" Abbey was joking of course but her eyes told a different story. She was of course saddened but knew she'd have to move on. "I am happy for you Mimi."

Mimi laughed. She knew Abbey still had feelings for her. "I wish you could have met him before you left."

"Do you really think that would have been a good idea? I mean just out of sheer honour I'd have to put him on his ass. What does he do anyway?" She asked genuinely curious.

Mimi laughed again. "It would have been funny to see it happen but hard to explain to him after. He is one of the engineers."

"Like a warp core engineer or just like jack of all trades engineer? " She leaned forward her arms resting crossed on the table "Come on Mimi I want details, specifics I'm not having you run off with a half cut good for nothing, going no where engineer! you deserve the best!"

"A jack of all trades engineer," Mimi replied. "He is a few years older than me and a lot bigger but he is very gentle and caring."

"How old is old?" She returned watching Mimi as she spoke, she was more curious as to whom could win the affection of Mimi and maybe where she was going wrong. Or perhaps it was as simple as her gender, something she couldn't really change.

"He is twenty six." Mimi said, she took a sip of her tea before speaking again. "We met on the way to Allyndra's homeworld a few months ago and we just...... what is the word?..... clicked?"

"Clicked is the word" Abbey confirmed sitting back in her chair and thinking for a long moment, before whispering "Have you.. You know done the deed so to speak?" She asked smiling.

"Done the deed?" Mimi asked, she'd not hear that term before.

"You know." She said mischievously "His male parts and your female parts, connecting in a harmoniously sensual experience" Abbey tried her best not to laugh.

Mimi didn't keep Abbey's restraint and laughed away. "No, we have not 'done the deed' we only made our feelings known properly about a month ago."

"A MONTH! MIMI!" She almost in disbelief "A MONTH AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME." She lowered her voice, "Why didn't you tell me sooner I feel very let down right now." Abbey was enjoying the conversation, she had to as this was potentially going to be their last.

"We wanted to keep it a little quiet." Mimi said, "And we were doing well till recently."

Abbey felt bad as she cupped her mouth, "Sorry!" She said genuinely apologetic in the matter. "Well, If you're happy then I'm happy." She sat back and sighed. "I'm going to miss you, Mimi."

Mimi smiled. "I will miss you too Abbey, the whole crew will too I think."

"Oh I doubt that but thank you for saying so." Abbey looked around the plaza, it was slowly getting quieter as the night crept in. "I think it's time to part ways?" She asked more to her self than to her companion. "Its been an honour serving with you Mimi." Abbey stuck her hand across the table to shake the Nekomi's hand.

"You too Abbey." She took Abbey's hand but pulled her upwards, standing up she gave her a big hug.

Abbey returned the hug, she fought back tears as they shared one last moment together. As they separated Abbey took a mental picture of Mimi and smiled. “Bye Mimi.” she said leaning forward and kissing the Nekomi on the cheek before turning around and leaving for the last time.

"Baik stvar Abbey." Mimi said as Abbey left.
