"I need your help."

Nesh stood in the doorway of Queen Anne's Revenge, waiting for permission to come aboard Miraj's personal, and highly modified, waverider.

"Help with what?" Miraj put down her padd full of technical specs for the new Galileo and swung her legs round so she sat up to an upright position.

Nesh took that as permission to board, and stepped in, shutting the sleek gloss black and chrome door behind her. "I need to stow away on Galileo-A."

Miraj choked a little. "Stow away?" That made no sense. "Why don't you tell just tell your sister you want to come with her?"

"Becuase if I do, she'll tell my mother, and I do not want my mother to know where I am."

"Why on earth not?" It didn't make any sense to Miraj.

Nesh sat down on the bunk next to the pilot and sighed. "Mama has arranged a marriage for me. He's like her age. And considering I was the result of her uterus's last hurruh, he's like old enough to be my grandfather."

"Eww" Miraj wasn't sure which was grosser; the idea of marrying a grandfather, or the image of Nesh's mother's baby bits. "How is that even a thing? This is the twenty fourth century."

"I know, right." Nesh agreed, "And more than that in Orion reckoning. I'm supposed to meet him after Lirha leaves. And then there's like two days, and then the wedding. And if I don't like him, it doesn't matter. And then I have to put out. Like gross."

"Thats terrible. It really is."

"So you see why I need to get to the other end of the quadrant, and I don't want to get caught before I'm too far away from the main spacelanes to be sent back."

Miraj started twirling the end of one of her bunches around her fingers. "I'm not sure how I can help. Your sister hates me and I don't like her. If she finds out I helped you, she's going to have every excuse she needs to kick me off too, and that leaves people I care about at risk."

Nesh scowled. "Look, I know Lirha can be a massive cow. I mean, she didn't check on me once on the Klingon ship. And she let me think she was dead for weeks. And she never spoke to me once whilst she was in prison. And I'm her sister. But I'm facing a fate worth than death. You can't leave me to be either raped, or worse, celibate, for the rest of my life."

Miraj squirmed a bit. When Nesh put it like that how could she say no?

Nesh sensed her doubt. "Please, Mij. No one knows more about getting in all the little places of a ship than you do. I can't do it without you. And if I stay, its going to be barbaric. I've never even met this guy, and he's ancient. And like every Orion man ever, he's buffed up. I'm not fifty kilo's dripping wet. I wouldn't stand a chance."

Nesh's pleas did the trick. "Okay. I'll do what I can." Miraj offered.

Nesh threw her arms around the other girl. "Thank you! Thank you! When this is all over, I promise I'll take you out and get you laid."

Miraj went a little stiff. "That's not needed. I don't want a one night stand."

Nesh looked at her like she'd grown a second head, then sighed. "I know. You want to fall in love."

"You don't have to make it sound so silly."

Nesh put her arm around Miraj's shoulders. The pilot was actually older than Nesh, but Nesh felt like her senior in terms of everything. Miraj was far too sheltered and read too many books in her opinion. "I know. You want to be swept of your feet by a knight in shining armour who romances you off to his castle and its all rose petals and towers and silk."

"Nesh!" Miraj protested

"Okay, so its something more piratey, like your eyes meet across a burning deck or something before he takes you back to his cabin for some bodice ripping. Or rum, sodomy and the lash."

Miraj went bright red all the way to the ears.. "Oh go soak your head."

Nesh grinned and gave Miraj a little squeeze. "I'm just teasing. But if you do this for me, I swear I will try and find you a boyfriend. Someone who will actually want to jump those skinny bones of yours, and not get his daddy issues in the way."

"Uh, thanks. I think."

"So how do we do this?" Nesh asked

Miraj started to think, still twisting her hair. "Getting you on is the easy bit."

"It is?" Nesh was surprised. Surely breaking onto a modern ship was hard.

Miraj nodded, "I can park Queen Anne on Galileo A whilst I'm transferring some personal stuff. You can be off Queen Anne and into one of the jeffries tubes lickety split. And feeding you is easy. We can stash you behind my quarters, and you can use my replicator. It's stopping Galileo from feeling you once you're inside that's the issues. We'll need some sort of sensor baffle."

"Oh. I see." Nesh thought about it. "Where do we get one?"

It was Miraj's turn to think. "I don't know. You'd need to talk to someone in Ops. They do sensors."

"Okay. Would this be any use?" She showed Miraj the card she'd swiped from Lirha's yeoman and made a surreptitious copy of.

MIraj looked at the keycard. "I don't know. Possibly. It would certainlylet you get to replicators and through any forcefields, but it might also figure out there's two of this Jeysa person, and shut one down. Sensor baffle would be safest."

"Leave that to me." Nesh pursed her lips. There were scores of Ops techs floating around the shipyard. It wouldn't be too hard to get close to ones who could fall for her charms. Close enough that the air filters wouldn't be able to do anything to save them and then they'd do anything she'd ask. "I have a cunning plan."
