With her settling in time over Jeysa walked through the halls of the Avondale shipyard towards her new Captains office. Now she was officially Lirha's yeoman she had to get to know her and what Lirha expected of her.

Reaching the door she took a breath and tapped the chime.

"Yes, enter!" replied the Captain's distinctive Orion voice through the comm. The door swished open to allow the yeoman to step inside. Sitting at her desk, Captain Saalm was attentively watching a video when she looked up to take notice of her guest.

"Good afternoon Captain." Jeysa said as she stepped inside, she was only slightly less nervous now then when she'd met Lirha for her interview.

"Yes, Miss Zeror. Please sit," Saalm acknowledged with a motioning wave to the chair across from her. "I thought we should go over command protocols and your daily scheduling before it gets too late."

'Straight to business' Jeysa made a mental note that it may be a regular behaviour of Lirha, she sat down in the chair. "It is time I found out just what you require from me."

Pushing one of the PADDs on her desk across the table to the petty officer, Saalm couldn't be in more agreement. "You'll have a busy schedule, usually twelve hours on-shift with standard meal breaks," she began. The PADD she'd just given to Zeror contained the duty shift rotation in more detail. "Your primary job is to manage the ship's log and crew records. Department reports should be filed daily and you'll be responsible for all record-keeping. You'll also serve as secretary during any staff meetings and briefings to take notes of important conversations."

Jeysa took the Padd and glanced over it. "That is a lot of paperwork." She remarked.

"Yes. And it's your first step to one day commanding your own vessel," Lirha replied with encouragement. "You will also be responsible for scheduling. Mostly helping me manage my own daily appointments but also those of the XO and COB. All of this is a big responsibility...are you confident and prepared?"

"I have done paperwork for almost as long as I remember Captain." Jeysa replied. "Handling this much will be an interesting challenge but yes I am confident."

"Good." The captain smiled, happy she didn't have to go into too much detail of the complicated process. She was fortunate the petty officer was already trained in such affairs, and hopefully the growing pains would be brief. "Any questions?"

"Other than your appointments is there anything more personal you need me to do?" Jeysa asked.

Lirha was slightly flattered by the request. She'd never had anyone ask to offer assistance with her personal affairs while off duty. Nor did she fully understand the specifics of the offer. "Such as...?"

"An example would be, in earlier times a yeoman would serve in a similar fashion to a captains steward." Jeysa said.

"..A steward." Saalm paused and considered the proposal. "If you are volunteering, I suppose I can find duties for you. Are you a good cook?" she asked with curiosity.

Jeysa nodded. "That was just an example but yes I can cook, quite well I think. Anything that I can do to take pressure off of you, is precisely what I'm here for."

The captain wasn't quite in need of a full-time squire, but it was good to hear the yeoman volunteer for additional duties. "I'm sure I can think of extra tasks as they arise. For now, though, let's get you settled into your routine. The additional work can wait until you've mastered your new schedule. I would like to sample your culinary skills, however. Say...tomorrow night at 2000?"

"I can make myself available for that." Jeysa smiled.

Lirha returned the smile and regarded her new yeoman further. "I hope you don't mind if I invite my sister. She will find out, after all, that you cooked for me. One way or another," she mused to herself out loud.

Jeysa shook her head. "That is fine by me." She started thinking what she could cook for her.

"Good. Any further questions?" Lirha asked before sending the petty officer on her way for the rest of the day.

Thinking for a few moments Jeysa again shook her head. "Nothing comes to mind right now Captain."

"Then that's all for now. Dismissed. And...I look forward to seeing you again," the Orion captain said in a softer voice. "Don't be late," she winked.

"Yes Ma'am." Jeysa said, getting up she headed for the door, her mind already thinking about what she would cook tomorrow.
