[ON]

The young Andorian walked down the wide open passageways of the Avondale Production Facility. He was beginning to figure out that they were working on, assembling/constructing, several vessels at one time. They definitely had the production staff for all the projects. The workers seemed to flow in mass just like workerbees about a hive. After looking at a few, the faces seemed to blur, like they were the same. The Andorian looked closer and found many races and a fare number of the female persuasion. Again, for a moment, the workers seemed to be acting as one, flowing about each other without conflict or interruption.

Tris chuckled to himself when he realized that he was unintentionally comparing these Starfleet contract workers to ‘the Borg”. He definitely wouldn’t want anyone to know of his thoughts like this. No, he was definitely not a Borg sympathizer.

He stopped by a large bay window, where a vessel’s superstructure was still being assembled. He couldn’t quite tell which ship design this one might be. The underside of the Primary hull was attached to a Secondary hull, but no nacelles were in sight.

Tris moved on and headed to his temporary quarters on the station, where he kept a few private things he had brought with him from Earth. He had surprised even himself, that he had packed even this amount of personal items for only a planned 5 day trip. He had the important things, and anything else he really needed could be replicated. There were a few things back in his shared quarters at Starfleet Command. He knew he could contact someone at housing services and those items could be stored for him in a locker until he returned. There was no need to transport them out to him at this time. It could be done at any point, especially when he gets closer to the Sol system.

Entering his temporary quarters Ens. Shizn picked up the duffle-bag that lay on the floor just inside the door. With just a quick look around he headed out to his new assignment.

Ens. Shizn approached the doorway, behind which was a gantry or walkway over to the USS Galileo-A. Standing next to the doorway were two security personnel. The Andorian came to a stop and extended the silver-and-red keycard provided by the Captain earlier that morning. “I’m Ensign Shizn, recently transferred to the Galileo.”

After a quick check, the Senior Petty Officer handed the keycard back and said, “Welcome aboard Ensign. You should find the Quartermaster’s office to the left once on board.”

“Thank you,” Shizn replied, giving a polite nod to the other security personnel.

Once past the gantry, Tris stopped aboard the ship to get a ‘first feel’ of the vessel. He looked both ways in the corridor, then closed his eyes and allowed his Antennae to move about and get a good feel or ‘registering’ of the structure itself in his mind. He could feel that the engines were quiet. Only one of the fusion reactors were active at the moment. Personnel could be felt, but he had no idea who or what they were. He did get a sense of coldness and emptiness. He figured that would change once the crew were on board.

Ens. Shizn made quick work of speaking to the Quarter Master and soon headed to Deck 4, where his quarters were located. Entering the quarters, he found it to be empty for the moment. It was an obvious shared Officer’s Quarters, each having a private bedroom, sharing a common area and bathroom facilities. This was rather typical, especially for smaller vessels in Starfleet.

This, of course, was grandeous compared to an Andorian vessel and the space they allowed for their officers and crew. That cramped living space was not one of the things he did not look forward to returning to, if that opportunity ever arose for him . . . in the far future.

Tris selected the sleeping room on the left. He wasn’t sure why for the moment. It just seemed the natural choice. He figured that if there was some cosmic reason for it, then he would probably find out about it before the end of his first mission aboard the Galileo.

The Andorian adjusted the standard room temperature to his liking, which was much colder than Humans preferred. But for Tris, this was a definite plus. He then stripped off his uniform tunic, and then released the mechanism to the ultra-thin cooling body-suit that he typically wore under his uniform. Tossing it to the bed, Tris began to rub his hands over the blue skin of his muscular torso, as the much desired cool vented air blew onto him. He was feeling quite good at the moment, raising both hands, up and out, as he turned in a slow circle before the air vent. He spoke aloud for his own ears, “This will definitely make life easier while living here on the Galileo.”
