Alohiai had found the aliens...well visitors though they were aliens fascinating. Oh she had had a chance to down to the area where the space port was but like most Akkadians, she had been instructed to have little interaction with them. Now she had been given a green light not only to meet them but in some cases interact as well.
This one in this room she had only glimpsed but what it was about him that made the Mother attracted she could not yet tell. Grey as ash, and with a sort of scale here and there but tall and strong built like one of the infertile males.
She was convinced that there was something more than the physical but she had not a chance to interact with the man hardly since he had arrived.
Two other servants flanked her, his attendants that were stationed day and night ready for his bidding at any time. They had indicated he had asked for little.
Alohiai rapped on the ornate carved door and with a clear voice said, "Nehani milimili, might I enter?"
Galan had been sitting by the window reading. Varro had gotten him out of a lot of talking by saying that he'd be a diplomatic guard and was tasked with speaking only when spoken to. This was Allyndra's home. He didn't want to do anything to embarrass her. He was uncomfortable yes but what he was feeling was worth it because he really cared for Allyndra.
He'd gone to the waters once or twice he hadn't asked for much as the thought of servants made him feel uncomfortable. He mostly kept to himself and found that the history books, the one thing he'd asked the servants to bring him, were fascinating. He closed the book and got up to go take a shower. He washed his hair, enjoying the scented soap, and then changed in to sweat pants. He would take a run and for that he didn't put a shirt on.
Just as the he was about to call Varro to see if he wanted to go for a run the door sounded. He heard the knocking and the voice. Alohiai, if he remembered correctly. "Come in." He called.
Alohiai entered and made a deep curtsy. Nehani milimili, the Mother would like to know if you would be able to come to breakfast."
Oh boy...Galan hadn't seen Allyndra since they'd gotten to the planet. He knew that she was busy but now here he was with an opportunity to see her and he was thinking of backing out. It wasn't that he didn't want to see her. He just couldn't use her title here. It was a bit... well his mind wouldn't allow it. What were the odds that they'd be alone?
Galan sighed and bowed, "Of course." His need to see her won out. He grabbed a shirt and put it on quickly. His hair still wet slicked back. He pointed towards the door, "After you ma'am."
Alohiai smiled, the response was odd but then again she was dealing with someone that was not nuanced to the ways of things. She lead on as requested and came to another set of doors shortly, and again rapped.
"Mother, the Nehani milimili is here."
Allyndra herself came to the doors and opened them. She smiled when she saw Galan and pulled him inside. Alohiai said nothing but pulled the doors closed.
"There you are, oh how I have missed you!" She have him a hug and then kissed him. "Now the work is done and it is just our time."
Galan closed his eyes as she embraced him. He held her just enjoying the feel of her in his arms. When she kissed him it was just a quick kiss but to him it felt like water for a thirsty man. He leaned his forehead against hers and held her. "I've missed you too my princess." He drew her lips into a deep kiss and smiled when they broke apart. He was breathless a little and his body trembling with a joy of being with her again. "Varro says that things are going well. How have you been?"
"Tired but things went better than I hoped. Now there is time for nothing but us. Spend the day doing nothing, a walk in nature, a picnic, anything that strikes your fancy."
He smiled at her. "Well how about breakfast, swimming, and relaxing...." Then he thought of something. "Oh...I have something for you. Varro helped me get it on Earth."
"As you wish, there is a lovely pool up in the mountains not too far.....but first what did you get? I am home and have you here what more is necessary?"
Galan smiled. He reached into his pocket and pulled a small velvet box. He opened it to reveal a necklace. Inside it was a holo that would come out when she opened it and it was images from her home. While Varro and she had been preparing for this trip Galan had asked Varro to take note of things and to have Allyndra show him a map of her home. This locket with show not only the star system but that beautiful Rainbow like phenomenon that Varro had shown Galan. He'd wanted to capture it. "This is so that even when you are back in the fleet you don't forget home." He handed her the box.
"Oh I will never forget home but this is fantastic! Very thoughtful," Allyndra gave him another kiss. "Now then, let me ring up to get a picnic packed and then just the two of us."
Galan smiled, As she went to make the call he walked over to the window and looked out. The planet was beautiful. He couldn't help but notice that. He studied Allyndra as she made the call. She looked different here. He seemed more confident and happy. Varro and he had talked most of last night about the talks, about the planet. He turned back to Allyndra, "So what's it like being home? Did you miss it more then you thought?"
Allyndra laughed lightly and joined him on the balcony. "This is not the first time back for me you know. Of course I miss home when I am away but then when I am here I miss seeing something new out there. I think it makes each, home and the stars, then special. And you? Do you miss home?"
Galan shrugged, "Cardassia was never home, Bajor never felt right...for me I guess home is amongst the stars." He thought a little but I guess Romulus Zeta 1 Colony was home for a while. My brother is there and my sister is with the Klingons I miss them." He looked at her. "Tell me about your family here. Is the house system the same as on the Klingon home world?"
"I am not really familiar enough with the Klingons," Allyndra replied. "When we come back from the sea we are gathered into the House. The entire House becomes our family, there is no distinction between actual blood and not." She chuckled suddenly. "We come in sexless did you know that? It is our mother's position within the House that determines if one will be female, male or infertile male. The House determines what it needs and our actual mother is ranked accordingly to cause the hormone variations that result in how we develop. If I remember my Klingon physiology classes correctly, that is not the case in their house structure."
Galan smiled, "No that's not their way. The Klingons are more male geared and their houses are split into 24 main houses with each family having a seat on the High Council...but much has changed with the Klingons."
Galan thought a moment. "Are any of the members of this house your children... I mean biologically."
"No," Allyndra said flatly. She did not want to have that ghost of her past dug up. "Come," she said brightening. "Let us go enjoy the day and evening together away from the town." She held out her hand.
Eelim studied her. He would leave it for now but he knew that this might be a conversation that they had to have. "Alright...for now. But we will talk of this." He took her hand and followed her.
Allyndra sighed, "Away from here, away from where ghosts sometimes still haunt me." She held her hand out and said, "Now let us go where we can feel the warmth of the Twins and all there is just the sound of wind and wave."
Eelim smiled. He took her hand and brought it to his lips. "Where you go my love, I follow."
An hour later...
The opening in the forest was covered in lush low grass with just a bit of slope. Several small waterfalls were nearby making that sound of falling water that was so soothing. The slope was just enough and the opening enough that one could see the sea in one direction and the mountains in the other. Around the opening at the edge of the tropical like forest grew a riot of flowers of all sorts of colours and shapes.
Allyndra had put a large cloth down and had Eelim set their places from the basket he carried. It was simple fare, more suited to her tastes but there were some bits that should provide a more substantial set of foods for him.
She sat on the cloth and was sipping blood flower juice and watching the waves.
"You asked if I had any biological children. I do not." She waved her cup toward the ocean. "We are born in the sea and spend a year in it developing. As such, not all, in fact many Katareh as we call them do not survive that time. After a year we make our flights to gather the Katareh again from the sea. I have never had any return."
Eelim laid a hand gently on hers. "I'm sorry." He sighed and looked out into the water.
He wondered if someone else could have picked up her Katareh. His suspicious Cardassian nature spoke to him. A nature he tried to supress. "Allyndra...You know that I cannot give you children right." With all that had happened he didn't remember telling her that but she had a right to know. As of late he'd been thinking on that.
"Of course I know that. We are genetically incompatible. It is more a concern I have for you. I have tried and have come to the conclusion that the gods have decided that it is not in my stars. You however are a different story." She reached over and touched his cheek.
He smiled, "I can't have kids period. A long story....But as far as we are concerned all I need is you with me and I will have the Universe."
"As I said, the Twins bless, and perhaps for some such as us it is not in the fates they determine. You are my love, and it is all I need. Now let us enjoy our time together, away from the demands of others for it is all too rare these times to cheapen with words" Allyndra then reached for him pulling him closer and into a kiss.
Eelim smiled and fully embraced her. It had been a long time since they were together. He'd missed her. "I have missed you so much." He said honestly."
"And I you, now let us enjoy one another before the world calls us back to other duties again..." She pulled him close and returned the kiss.
