Mission: Episode 15 - Emanation
Location: USS Chaka - Lounge
Timeline: MD: -38 1315hrs

ON:

Eviess looked around the lounge. It was unusually full. She took her tray over to the only empty spot she saw. She smiled at the woman there. "Hello! May I sit?"

Mimi looked up at the owner of the voice and saw Eviess, the unusual hybrid that worked alongside Allyndra in medical. "Sure." She said smiling up at the older woman.

Eviess sat down. "Thanks. It's pretty busy here. How are you doing? I haven't seen you in a while Ensign." She had liked Mimi from the first time they met when she'd helped in sickbay aboard the Klingon ship.

"I am Ok." Mimi replied sipping her tea as she spoke. "I have managed to avoid breaking my jaw again so far and now I have eaten some food I can digest I am feeling better."

Eviess smiled, "I echo the food bit too. It's been rather tough to take until now. I can't wait to get to Earth."

"At least you could eat ALL the food, you saw the trouble I had."

Eviess gave a nod. "It was not good. That planet was..hell on everyone. How are you adjusting to solid food again? Any stomach aches?" The doctor in her took over.

"I..... threw up a few times over the first few days." Mimi replied. "I ate far too much, but I could not help myself." The desire to gorge herself on fresh meat had overwhelmed Mimi's common sense in the fist days on the Chaka.

Eviess smiled. "That is natural, you were without food for so long. If you have any problems in the next few days try having some mint tea before a meal." She studied the young woman. "We haven't really had time to talk. Tell me about yourself."

"What else would you like to know about me?" Mimi asked. "I have taken a lot of bumps to the head but I remember telling you about how I ended up in the federation and starfleet."

She smiled, "Yes but tell me what are your hobbies, what do you like to do on your time off?" Eviess genuinely wanted to get to know the young woman.

"Normally I like to excercise a lot." Mimi replied "But I will not be doing much of that for a little while. I am far under the weight I should be."

Eviess thought a moment, "I might be able to help with that if you like. There is a high protein and calorie diet I can write down for you. A week or so on that and you are guaranteed to gain a bit of weight."

"I think I should take it slowly." Mimi paused to take a sip of her tea "I do not want to make myself ill again."

She smiled, "You wont. Just feel free to snack. Small meals more frequently will help." She sipped her drink. "Have you had time to speak with the counselor?" She asked. She too thought about going to see the woman.

"Not yet." Mimi replied. "Marisa knows a lot about what has happened to me, she did save me from getting my tail cut off."

Eviess looked horrified..."Tail cut off," she asked. "What on Earth happened?" She really wanted to know, the thought that anyone would try and do that was horrible.

"Two Klingons stopped me in a corridor, they knew the Nekomi even told me they had killed a lot of them and cut their tails off." Mimi's usually active tail dropped slowly to the floor as she retold the story. "I tried to get away from them then one grabbed my tail. So I hit him."

Anger stirred in Eviess. "Klingons are vile." She said well aware that outwardly she looked Klingon accept for her pointy ears.

"They are." Mimi said agreeing completely. "There were over one hundred of my people on Kemi and only I am left."

Eviess shook her head. "That's horrible. I'm so sorry you had to go through that."

"There is hope though." Mimi smiled slightly. "I found some data on the Klingon ship that could help me find home."

Eviess looked at the woman, "Really? How can you be sure it's accurate. The Klingons are known for their tall tales."

"It tells of a section of space that is protected by a species that sounds a lot like the Bespiri." Mimi explained. "They were like the Vulcans were to earth.

"What do you mean?" Eviess asked momentarily taken aback. She knew that the Vulcan's had helped earth quite a bit.

Mimi finished off the last of her tea before speaking. "They made first contact with us a few years after we put a big station in orbit of the homeworld. They were really advanced compared to us, we were still using chemical engines for our shuttles while they had low warp drive. We had found what they told us was Dilithium on our moon but we did not know what it could be used for yet."

"Interesting. There are so many first contact stories that start that one." Her heart went out to the young woman. "I hope you find your home ensign." She really did. Not having a home made one feel like they didn't belong.

"I hope I do too." Mimi sighed slightly. "The chances of me finding it are rather low but I have to hope."

Eviess smiled, "Hope is vital and always a good driving force. I really hope that you do find them." She could tell how vital this was. When one went looking for the truth sometimes things got messy she hoped the young woman wasn't hurt more then she seemed to be now.

"Thank you Evie, hopefully fate is on my side." Mimi smiled slightly.

They ate in silence for a while, "So, do you have any siblings?" It was Eviess that broke the silence.

"A twin sister." Mimi replied. "She looked almost the same as me but with gold fur."

Eviess gave a nod, "Were you close?"

"We were very close" Mimi replied. "To begin with there were only 6 children on the colony so we all had to stick together."

"Sounds lonely." She understood that.

"We had fun though, we were able to run around and play as much as we wanted so long as we stayed safe." Mimi smirked slightly as good memories came to her. "We would sometimes go out on walks with the scientists and help them collect things like plants and bugs."

Eviess smiled, "That does sound like fun." Eviess finished her food and drink. She wiped her mouth with the napkin. "Any plans for when we get back to Earth, I mean other then looking for home?"

Mimi shook her head. "I have nothing planned."

Eviess smiled, "You have been through a lot over the last while. Looking for home can be emotional and on top of everything that you've been through I think you should rest." The doctor in her was working overtime.

"I think we will have a lot of time for rest and I will get my share." Mimi thought about what she could do while on earth. "I might look around earth some more, I spent most of my academy time staying in the academy buildings, did not go out much."

"There is so much beauty there." Eviess said smiling. She recalled her time there not so fondly but the surroundings were beautiful.

"It is a beautiful planet." Mimi agreed "It reminds me a lot of the pictures I have of the homeworld."

Eviess smiled, "You will find your home." She looked at her empty food and glass. "Well, I best be heading back. Thank you for the company."

"You are welcome Evie." Mimi said after finishing the last morsels of her meal "It was good to talk to you without looking up at you from a biobed."

Eviess smiled, "Until we meet again then." She gave a nod and turned heading out.
