Location: IKS DuJa'Q - Mess Hall
Timeline: MD08 - 1500

[ON]

Luke wondered into the mess hall of the Klingon ship they were currently occupying. He hated it, and not just because of their recent predicament but because of the harsh memories it brought back of the dominion war. Lost in his own thoughts he had made his way to the replicator, ordered a sandwich, banana and a drink he then quickly sat down on one of the benches.

Looking around he was only one of a handful of occupants who were not working or sleeping and had decided to catch a snack before their shift started. About to bite into his meal another tray slid next to his and the weight the of the bench shifted. Luke found this a bit odd and looked up to see who had chosen to sit so close half expecting Miraj.

"Hi stranger" Abbey said smiling at her would be father. "We haven't spoken since your little accident... actually we haven't really spoken since I came back" she pointed out her tone flat without meaning.

Swallowing down his bit he nodded "we've been a little busy and I thought you wanted some time, hell I think I needed time. It's still a bit..."

"Strange?" Abbey said having a sip from her drink. "How do you think I feel? I haven't seen you since I was a child and even then I barely saw you, at least you had some time with your daughter mine was to busy doing the empires bidding." She sighed "but now we have a chance you know?"

"A chance?" Luke asked looking at the girl only seeing his daughter and the pain he had felt, but could he blame this woman? Was she an imposter? Or was the gods having a joke at his expense.

"At... a relationship." Abbey said testing the water before continuing "after all I am biologically, mentally and physically every bit your daughter" With that she waited to see what he would say.

Luke sat silent for a moment, considering the request she had made. "I..." he started but couldn't find the words exactly.

Abbey shot into action "You don't have to say anything yet! Or every agree! I just thought... this world can be a lonely one"

That slapped Luke in the face, ever since her arrival Abbey had been withdrawn and well exactly what he had been like when he first arrived and now she was opening up and asking for this. "I think we should at least try, I must admit I saw this coming but so soon? Why now?"

The question was fair enough Abbey had also wondered what made her change her mind perhaps it was the loss of win her first... love was to strong a word? Friend perhaps? "Because we face an unfortunate task ahead that could possibly result in the death and destruction of every one on this ship"

For some reason Luke smiled "Well aren't we the optimist" he bit another chunk from his sandwich and washed it down with a sip of drink.

Abbey couldn't help but smile and feel a flutter in her stomach, they were finally connecting. "I just see how it is, but don't worry I plan on surviving this and to continue to be a royal pain in you arse"

"Oh don't worry, you do that effortlessly." Luke could feel an unfamiliar warmth burn through his chest, something he hadn't had since he first found out Abbey his true daughter was joining him on the Galileo and how proud he was of her. "How is security?"

"Boring for the most part, it's not like in the empire where I'd get to torture, maim and kill people but it has its perks." She meant in closer "they even trust me with a phaser too"

That made Luke laugh, "Wow, you truly are going up in the world! Though I do notice you opt to where your empire sash around your waist" he nodded in its general direction the golden embroidery material and the empire pins till clasping it together.

"It reminds me of how I am and where I came from, I don't hide from it but instead I embrace it. After all, I would never have been reunited with you if I didn't join and do the things I had to endure during my service" she admitted holding the soft cloth "I could always go back to wearing my skirt and open shirt? I hear the commander? General? Admiral? Or whatever she calls herself now is very go..."

"And that's where I must leave you to your own crazed thoughts my dear" he said finishing the sandwich and his drink to eat the banana at work.

"You're no fun!" She teased.

"I can assure you I am a lot of fun but I don't want to know what you do or don't do and who you do and don't do" the thought made him shiver "have a good day Abbey" he said standing.

Abbey stood then, turned and hugged him. She felt warm and safe in that instance and as his arms returned the hug she released her troubles letting them float away into the empty void of space. Pulling back she smiled, tip toed and kissed him in the cheek "I don't think I'll be comfortable calling you dad just yet but in time" she admitted before adding "also make sure you spend time with Miraj. She really likes you" with that she picked up her tray and hurried off leaving Luke in her wake.

Luke stood for a moment feeling a slight sense of fatherhood wash over him, she wasn't his daughter but in time she would grow to be, she already was in many ways. "Stay safe" he muttered before making his own way out of the mess hall, dropping of the tray and garbage from his meal.
