Previously, on If it's Pink, Eat it (Part 2)...

JJ looked at the nice man from the safety of her dadda's lap and gave him a sweet smile as she said "T'ank 'ou ... an fow pwotecting dadda."

Aren smiled as warmly as he could. "I do what I can little one. I will do my best to get us all away from here and hopefully, home and soon." He offered, trying his best not to promise anything but still wanting to improve the boys spirits.

"Me no wittle, me wight size!" JJ frowned at the nice man she turned a dark shade of red as she recognised that she had shouted at him.

Martin laughed then said "Sorry Commander Ban she likes you but like many younglings, she finds small annoyances that we would over look as an aggressive insult. I am sure she meant to say that much quieter than actually did."

And Now, the Continuation...

[ON]

Miraj slunk into the mess, and joined the queue for the replicators. She was tired. She'd spent most of the last two days helping scrape the ice out of the misbegotten dirt ball they'd been marooned on and just wanted to eat whatever gruel passed for food and collapse to bed. Hopefully by now she'd be tired enough to sleep, and not lie awake crying for Luke.

The queue moved and she shuffled up with it. "Does this place ever not have a queue?" she asked the Kreanan in front of her

"Never and there is almost never anything good left over. Klingons and Romulans get first bid, then high point individuals...you will earn those depending on the job your assigned, how necessary and how well you do." He stuck a hand out, "Tannis by the way."

"Miraj." She shook. "I don't think we'll be here long enough to earn any points." A thought struck her. "Why don't Romulans and Klingons need points?"

"More or less founders of the colony. Romulans run the place, Klingons defend the place, they think that is the most important job. Little regard to the rest of us that patch the equipment, repair the shuttles, work on the water and other things that if they gave up would make this place even more miserable." He shrugged. "Part of that new group aren't you? You been assigned yet?"

"Sort of. I was supposed to be helping with water reclamation, but one of the crew wen a bit nuts, so its been really awkward down there. I really need to fly something though. But I don't think they want to let any of us into a pilots chair."

"Probably not right away. Still most of the shuttle hops are not far and the Klingons keep pretty tight control of comings and goings. Still if you show you know what your doing..." He made a shrug. "Shoot if you get there you will get higher points then since that is considered a higher assignment. Might have something other than pink goop."

A chance to fly. Sounded too good to be true. Miraj sighed. "Pink's not so bad. It could be green."

"I agree, in fact I think I like pink...especially on such a pretty thing as you."

Miraj dropped her eyes, trying to hide her please smile and sudden happy embarrassment. "You're very kind." she felt a little guilt at enjoying such things when Luke hadn't been dead for a month., and she sobered up suddenly. "So, how did you end up here?"

"Oh well me," Tannis noted the slight coldness. He thought maybe he had come on too strong or that she was involved. He just wanted to make friends that is all tough such a pretty girl he could not help but take a shine to.

"I was on a freighter when we got chased by a Klingon squad. Made a run for the nebula to hide. Thought we were well out of the woods when we got fired on by more Birds of Prey." He made a face. "We just surrendered, shoot we had no way to fight back so they took the cargo and the crew and here we are. Came to find out that they were not the same group that had originally chased us. Some sort of feud or something between the two groups. I could care less, politics." The line moved forward a bit more.

"I was ship's mechanic so they put me working on the water plant. Since you mentioned shuttle guessing you were a pilot or similar?"

"Yes, flight control for him. He didn't deserve to die. None of them did."

Tannis nodded, "Yeah, the general and his group seem to have itchy trigger fingers. General seems to be of the philosophy: shoot first, shoot later, shoot some more and then when everybody's dead try to ask a question or two. Romulans can be pretty nasty, but at least they try to think with their heads a bit more than with their balls...." Tannis shook his head. "Sorry about that, did not mean to get crude."

"No, no, its okay, its fine," she rushed to reassure him, "I've heard a lot worse. Well I think I've heard worse, most of it was in Klingon."

Tannis laughed. "I am sure, don't understand but a little bit myself. Well anyway did not mean to be so crude. Especially with such a pretty lady. Hey! I think we got our turn? After you." He made a sweeping motion with his arms indicating she should go past him. "Mind if I sit with you?"

She nodded, her bunches swinging. "That'd be nice." She ordered her portion. The replicator grudging produced some unidentifiable collection of protein strings and vitamins, decorated with coloured starch. "it will help me keep my mind off what I'm eating."

"That is the idea," Tannis replied as he got his tray.

Petra watched the fight altercation from the back of the room. She'd finished eating, but with the crunch of people could not as yet get out. She noticed the Klingon in Federation uniform and wondered who she was and where she came from. She got in line behind those making their way out and hoped she'd be able to get to the front in time to learn more.

As she feared, by the time she got to the front of the cafeteria, the others were gone. She put her tray away and headed out.

Allyndra noticed Eelim. They had not had much time to even say hi let alone anything else. She excused herself and got up and fought the crowd best she could. Light weight had a definite disadvantage here as she was buffeted by the others. "Eelim! Over here!"

Eelim, feeling relieved hurried over to Allyndra. He enveloped her in his arms. "Are you alright?" He looked her over for signs that she wasn't.

"I am, between being high ranked and a much needed medical person there is little that has been done to me. I am sorry not to have tracked you down sooner, there has been so many injured and then handling duties with just getting some administration done. How are you A'noi?"

Eelim didn't know how to answer that. All this had been a lot to take in. He was used to coping and that was what he was doing now. Taking things day by day. "I'm...okay." He said. He steered Allyndra to an empty table and sat her down. "Are you alright? What can I do to help you?"

"I am fine, there is much but let me discuss that later in a more private setting."
