Eelim checked and double checked the readings. He sighed. Gyce just happened to be on Gamma today caching up on paperwork but hey he liked working with her and didn't get much of a chance to, although after tonight he would. He walked himself to her office and hit the chime.

"Open," Gyce called while she looked over a case she was about to close... Seleya.

Eelim was just walking in and he stopped in his tracks. She had her hair up in a messy bun and some of it spilled out she looked...beautiful. He shook his head. "Ma'am...I've been getting some funny readings from the armoury I'm going to leave my post to check them out with your permission."

"Need me to come with you?" Gyce asked with concern.

He smiled. "Naw. I'll report in as soon as I see what's going." He turned to go. "Your hair looks nice like that."

"Oh..." Gyce blushed at the compliment. "Well... thank you. Truly."

Eelim smiled. He turned. "I'll call from the armory in a few minutes. See you soon." He walked out, his stomach doing summersaults. She really did look amazing like that.

Eelim checked the armory. He was happy he track tagged all the weapons. He quickly pulled up the data and commed Gyce. =/\= Galan to Benice there is a combat blade missing from the Armoury. I tracked it to Airlock one. Going there now.=/\=

That seemed like an odd place to leave a weapon. And immediately Gyce was suspect. Her reply was quick and serious, "I'll meet you there."

Eelim smiled. =/\=Don't worry boss. I will get it. No need to meet me there.=/\= He then chuckled =/\=I'm a minute away but if you are in Gyce-intense mode I'll meet you there.=/\=

"Comments like that will get double shifts," Gyce joked. Though it said in her usual serious tone, but somehow Eelim could tell when she was serious and when she was not.

Eelim chuckled as he reached the airlock. He looked through the little window and there, by the outer door, was a shiny object. =/\= I think I see it.=/\= He said as he hit the airlock inner door release button. A sudden chill ran down the length of his spine. Thinking it was the weather controls he ignored it.

The door hissed open. Staring forward with his eyes locked on the object he didn't bother to look around. He entered the airlock and headed towards the object. When he got there he saw that the object was...a replica. =/\= Ma'am the knife was a replica.=/\=

"What do you mean?" Gyce asked, a small hint of concern in her voice.

He stood up with the replica just as the door hissed closed. He'd been so focused that he hadn't heard the footsteps nor had her heard the person walk up behind him.

"Eeeelim," his name was whispered.

He turned. "Hey it's you I was just telling G...."

The cold green eyes stared into his blue ones. The assailant's hand thrust forward pushing the serrated steel blade home into it's mark. Eelim cried out as the assailant pulled he blade out slightly thrusting it back in and turning the handle pulling up and opening a large gash. Gloved hands reached out yanking off his communicator and tossing it on the ground. His com to Gyce went dead.

"I'm thirty seconds from you," Gyce spoke, but grew worried the moment his line was dead.

Eelim stumbled. Startled and confused his opponent used the opportunity to swing the blade smashing him in the side of the head with the handle. One push and Eelim went down. "Goodbye Cardassian. This is for Bajor, for people like myself and Gyce who were hurt by your kind."

It was done. She'd struck a blow for her kind and Gyce, she was sure, would thank her. All of Bajor would thank her. In her own mind she was the hero and this Cardassian was the evil one. She knew who his father was.

She pulled Eelim to the side and dumped him out of view. She hurried out of the airlock removed her gloves and sealed he door. Smiling the woman slipped into the open J tube sealing the door. She hurried away moving to the next deck. The knife would be cleaned and returned to the Armory. No one would know.

Eelim lay to the side. "Damn!" He was bleeding. Losing so much blood. He tried to put pressure on his wound but his hands wouldn't work properly. He had to get to the communicator. He shifted and pulled himself by one arm while trying to hold pressure on the wound. He collapsed unable to move. His breathing ragged. He heard the door open. Had she come back to finish him? He prayed. He prayed to the Gods of Bajor to keep Gyce away until this person was gone. Little did he know it was Gyce who walked in.

"Kosst!" Gyce was on all fours, hands pressing hard on the wound as she took a quick glance around. It took all in her not to get emotional, as one of her own was very clearly attacked. "It'll be all right, Eelim."

Eelim shook his head slightly. "It's okay...I know I'm done." His breathing was shallow, the pain almost unbearable. He looked at the blood on the ground. "C...can you tell....Admiral I'm sorry about...the mess."

"Stop talking and be still..." She swallowed hard before she firmly said, "I'll get you out of here and you'll be healed in no time."

He looked at Gyce, such concentration on her face. A strand of hair fell over to her left eye. Eelim gently reached up with shaky hands tucking it behind her ear. "It's okay.... You can let go....I'm." He looked at her chocolate coloured eyes. "I'm not.....scared. Y....you....are here."

Gyce chanced one of her hands to pull away enough to hit her badge. "This is Lieutenant Benice. Red Alert. We have a man down in air lock one bleeding out from at least one stab wound. The assailant is loose on the ship. Initiate medical transport for Lieutenant Eelim Galan. Security teams lock down this area RFN."

Eelim could feel himself getting weaker. He raised a hand cupping her cheek. "It has b...been...an honor....." His thumb stroked her chin under her lower lip, once. "Goodbye Benice." He rallied his strength for a few more words. Looking into her eyes he said, "N.....nev...never lose your in...intensity and kind...heart." His eye fluttered and his hand fell away. His breath rattled out.
