"You know where they are better then I do Xinye, where should I be looking?" Mimi asked Korre's cat as she rooted through drawers in the common area of their quarters looking for some toys to play with. She was off duty, Korre was out and Xinye wanted attention so she oblidged.

Xinye padded over to another set of drawers and leaped up onto them so Mimi redirected her search to them. "In here?" She knelt down, opened a drawer and it was well stocked with cat toys. Sticks with feathers or mice attached, remote control mice and a small clear bag with buds and leaves of a strange plant she'd never see before.

Taking a sizeable chunk out she looked it over and smelled it putting her feline senses to the test to find out what it was, it smelled strange like nothing she'd smelt before, she was just about to put it back when Xinye pounced on her clearly after what Mimi had, the impact crushed the buds of the plant in Mimi's hand exposing them both to the microscopic spores that burst from it.

With the departure from Celes, life was settling into something of a norm; Officers were coming in and out of the lounge on a regular basis, save for Duvall. Though she hadn't gotten the whole story, what Korre had gleaned was that the man had been sent with some of the other radiation victims to the Semmes for more direct treatment. Apparently the ship had therapies for the specific type. The Galileo had taken up the slack by handling the more physical forms of injury in return.

Perhaps she should have been upset; if she had been a normal human woman, that would have been a possibility. As it were, Korre had a much wider world-view that didn't fall to pieces at the least provocation. Yes, she might have had a pleasant relationship with Duvall, but it was not to be, and had thankfully come to an end before any real emotional investment had been made. In the meantime, she had a delightful new room-mate, who was currently at home keeping Xinye company.

"They say when the cat's away, the mice will play ..." She mused, approaching her door and tapping in the code. "Well, I'm certainly not a cat, so does the adage work the other way?" The door opened and Korre stepped in side. "Xinye! Mimi, I'm home." There were sounds from the Ensign's bedroom; Korre let them be for a moment as she saw the mess in the kitchen. Cat toys splayed across the counter, and a half-empty bag of cat-nip lay with others on the floor. "Oh goodness." Picking up the worst, she started at a shriek before heading to the bedroom. "Mimi? Is everything alright?"

Mimi was sprawled out on her back on her bed with her head towards the door, a huge grin on her face and Xinye laying on her stomach both gently purring away. She looked back when she heard someone calling her name. "Korre....? I think so." She replied though her words were slurred and drawn out. "But the Klingon that was hiding in my wardrobe isn't."

"Klingon?" The girl sounded drunk, but that couldn't be. There was no alcohol in the suite, as she didn't drink herself, and she knew she hadn't seen Mimi in the lounge. Her eyes trailed over the scantily clad form - her absinthe dress riding half-way up her thighs - and then to the floor where the shredded remains of a grey-striped pillow lay. "Ah ... I take it this is the Klingon." Crouching down, Korre scooped up the debris. "Come, Mimi - let's get you up and into the kitchen. I'll make you some tea to shake loose whatever is going on there." A part of her wondered if the girl had eaten some of the catnip as well. It shouldn't harm her - Xinye handled it just fine - but perhaps it affected her species differently.

"Ok." Mimi slowly rolled onto her side which gently dislodged Xinye who fell off and after rolling back onto her front simply went back to sleep. Mimi tried to sit herself up but stopped when she felt something was off. "Korre... I can't move my tail."

Sitting down on the side of bed, Korre laid a hand on Mimi's shoulder, then frowned. The girl's eyes were off - granted, she wasn't all that intimately familiar just yet, but something didn't feel right. "You may have laid on it wrong. Here, let me help you sit up."

With Korre's help Mimi sat up and rest against the beds headboard. "Ta lie vintlinti, diolch anda Korre." she said involuntarily switching to her native language.

The words were clearly not in the regular milieu of the translator's comprehension, but Korre picked up the gist of the message in Mimi's tone. "Not to worry, sweetie." Upright, she didn't look any better. "Right, let's see about getting you to sickbay, hmm?"

Very slowly Mimi moved her legs off the side of the bed they felt really strange and heavy, with her balance affected thanks to her tail it took several attempts and a lot of help she got up to her extremely wobbly feet.

What had at first come across as amusing, if a bit disconcerting, was now turning into an issue of some concern. Korre shifted to give Mimi as much support as she could, taking the girl's slight weight against her. "Right," she murmured, trying to keep her emotions neutral. "Let's go." She paused to scoop Xinye up and drape the kitten over her shoulder - better than leaving her to ravage the suite in a fit of post-nip hyperactivity. On a whim, she tapped her badge to inform sickbay they were coming in.

Two shifts were not easy but it kept Allyndra busy. Gamma was still pretty quite most of the time and she would have a chance to recharge before sitting the bridge for beta. There was not much to do, a few medical records and she did not have anything going in the lab. The book from the great library underneath Warraquim was no longer needed. Thus when she heard the sickbay doors open it was almost a relief to have something perhaps to do.

She stepped out. "What is the problem?" she said and noted that Mimi seemed to be sagging in the arms of another.

Each step Mimi took was laboured and heavy and her breathing was shallow but now she was stood the feeling had come back in her tail slightly and whilst the going was slow she'd regained some of her balance. "Li keelya kaayo arraroa Korre."

"Pardon?" Allyndra asked and looked to Barras for an exaplanation.

"Ah ..." The girl had seemed to deteriorate the closer they got to sickbay; now as she unexpectedly faced the CMO herself, Korre scrambled for the words she wanted to say. "I came off of my shift in the lounge and found her lying in her room, out of it. My cat as well," she gestured to Xinye, "though it's normal for her when she gets into catnip. I brought it with me, because I was wondering if something might be wrong with it."

"Catnip? Mosti lie ta?" Mimi looked up and saw Allyndra stood in front of her. "Lumela Allyndra" she said waving at her.

"Hmmm........interesting. I did not think nepetalactone would affect her but then again we know next to nothing. Well, let's get her on the biobed and I think perhaps we should strap her down. Sometimes the effect, if that is the same can result in aggressive activity." Allyndra gestured to biobed two. "We will keep her under observation, usually the effect wears off in a few hours time."

Adjusting the drape of her sleeping kitten, Korre asked, "Would you mind terribly if I sat with her until then?"

"Of course not. Right now she is just under observation. Hopefully the effect will wear off in an hour or two. If not then I will revisit additional measures." Allyndra got the last of the straps on Mimi. She hated to do that but just in case those claw and teeth could inflict a nasty wound if she had a bad reaction. "Mimi, I want you to rest, but feel free to talk." Allyndra knew that the bit she had said had not translated but that was fine. Talking got the brain to working and increased metabolic state which should help flush things out of her system.

Mimi let Korre and Allyndra move her and fasten her down, she didn't panic when the restraints were put on figuring that whatever had happened to her was serious enough that she could be a danger. "Solas? mosti buruz?" Mimi asked.

Allyndra shook her head. It was obvious that Mimi was understanding the language around her but her brain was not processing it to the point that she said anything but in her own native language. She said, "K'ela ho'opaku" Maybe hearing something in a language she did not understand might shake the pathways back. It was worth the try.

Sitting in a chair beside the bed, Korre bit her lip at the sight of the restraints. She didn't like it; she didn't disagree because ... well, she could sense the necessity, and Dr. Warraquim was the steady, reliable sort from what she had determined. Still, she reached out to grasp one of the disoriented girl's hands and squeezed, offering what encouragement she could in the situation.

Miten buruz sayan arreba Tali?" Mimi said managing to think of something to talk about; her sister Tali "Taa zen bezala saya doch rekin roos bont bezala sayan Aita." Mimi closed her eyes and sighed then without even knowing it was happening her head rolled to the side and she passed out

Allyndra just listened to the words. Obviously her attempt to snap Mimi out had not worked. When she passed out she checked the monitor and then grabbed a hypo. A few ccs of cortolin should help. It was a relatively mild resuscitive to keep her breathing and snap her back to consciouness.

It took a few seconds for the cortolin to take effect and Mimi came back to her senses with a start trying to sit up but being stopped by the restrainsts. She looked around at Korre and Allyndra. "Keelah, my head. What happened?"

It was all she could do to trust the doctor all was well, so when Mimi started returning to awareness, and speaking standard no less, Korre felt a flush of relief and squeezed the girl's hand. "We learned a new rule for the quarters - Mimi stays out of the catnip. How are you feeling, sweetie?"

Mimi's cocked her head to the side a little, there was that word again, Korre had used it several times but she didn't know what it meant. "Catnip?"

"It would appear that you have a high sensitivity to the substance. Quite a reaction. How do you feel now?" Allyndra asked. She was ready to remove the restraints but wanted to assess Mimi's reaction to the question.

"I don't know, my legs feel wierd." Mimi replied, her voice still a little slurred.

Allyndra looked at the scans. "I think it has to do with some enhanced neurotransmitter levels that affect the muscles. There are also indications of some lactic acid buildup. Do you remember doing much running or jumping?"

"No." Mimi said shaking her head.

Allyndra turned to Korre, "Any signs of a lot of activity?"

"Wait.... we did a lot of chasing and I think we broke a few things." Mimi said then looked at Korre. "Sorry Korre."

Korre grinned and shook her head. "You all left Xinye's toys scattered about - that's how I found the cat-nip - but other than that, I didn't see anything seriously damaged or out of place. And besides, whatever did get broken can be replaced as long as you're alright.

"Well then that sounds like an explanation to me. You should be fine Mimi, just want to keep you overnight under observation to make sure no adverse effects." Allyndra made a quick note in Mimi's chart.

"Ok." Mimi said

"There, there, relax, consider it a time off duty to just sleep, read a book for example. We really want to make sure you are alright." Allyndra patted her hand after releasing the restraints. "Or better yet, perhaps you might want to teach some of your language. I must admit I did not understand a word."

Mimi looked at Allyndra "I think it would be interesting to try and teach you my language Allyndra."

"Well there we have it then. I look forward to learning. Now then anything from the replicator? I do not mind playing nurse right now," Allyndra replied with genuine interest.

"Just some water would be nice, please." Mimi said, she sat up slightly, glad she wasn't having to be restrained anymore.

Allyndra got up to fetch the water and nodded to the two of them. "Catch up if you want, and again hide the nip."

Watching the doctor leave, Korre breathed a sigh of relief, her hand coming up reflexively to smooth over Mimi's head. "Are you sure you're feeling better, then? Gave me a bit of a scare there."

"Well I can see straight now." Mimi replied. "I can't see any Klingons hiding anywhere."

"Good," Korre chuckled. "Took me a time to get them all tucked in place while you were out." At a look from the girl, she broke into an all-out laugh. "I'm teasing, Mimi - no Klingons, I promise. Now, do you want to make do with replicator food here for the evening, or would you like me to bring you something from the lounge?"

Mimi shook her head. "I think I'll be ok Korre."

giving the girl's hand an encouraging squeeze, Korre smiled. "Well, I'm going to go check on my staff; don't hesitate to call for me if you need me - even if it's just to sit with you tonight." Only a few days and already the girl was getting under her guard. Korre chalked it up to her being a 'cat person'.
