Ellsworth was an early riser this morning, and, after a restless night of vivid dreams, he was particularly motivated into getting up early. Of course, Dr. Oren Idris played no small part in the motivation. He wanted him to have something nice to wake up to and as his side of the bed cooled, he knew he had a limited amount of time to get everything in order. On silent, bare feet he padded around the anthropologist's quarters as a man on a mission.

The computer spit them out at the replicator one-by-one but eventually he managed to gather an enormous bouquet of Idanian paradise flowers and arranged them with some greenery and very oddly named "bleeding hearts" from Earth. The riotous display of color, set in a tall vase, went on the center of the dining table. Two place settings of cutlery were arranged side-by-side, followed by Oren's favorite breakfast, sweet muffins filled with jelly, surrounded by an assortment of fruits. As fussy as he was, it took him more than a few moments to be satisfied that everything was picture perfect.

Back in the bedroom, Ellsworth started at the foot of the bed and eased himself back into it with the help of Oren's body. His hands slid up the torso and gripped the shoulders until he managed to wedge himself into the crook of the El Aurian's left arm. As if that wasn't enough to wake him up, Ellsworth playfully nipped at Oren's ear with his lips and whispered, "Wakey, wakey."

Oren responded slowly, wiggling around on the bed for a few moments before relaxing once more, although his arm around Ellsworth tightened slightly, bringing the Betazoid closer. Oren had been slipping in and out of consciousness for the past hour or so and it was only after feeling Ellsworth leave the bed did one side finally win over. Having the covers all to himself lulled him back to sleep until being so rudely woken up by Ellsworth's lips.

Still, he smiled at the sound of his voice, his breath against Oren's neck raising goosebumps. "Morning," he whispered back, his voice deeper from lack of use during the night.

"I made breakfast," Ellsworth said, grinning at Oren. His face hovered just close enough to allow his eyes to focus. He ran a hand through Oren's messy hair and pleaded, "Come eat with me. It's replicated fresh from the Hudson Cafe! All your favorite stuff. Bacon, a bunch of cheese, prosciutto, a chocolate fountain..."

Oren made a show of trying to gently push Ellsworth away. "Are you trying to make me sick?" he asked, staring dreamily up at the Betazoid.

"You're up early," he observed after a moment, his mind finally registering the fact that he was the second one to wake, which was a first.

For the briefest moment, Ellsworth averted his gaze. "Hey! Sometimes I get up early. I was just excited to start our day together, that's all."

"Mmm-hmm," Oren said, giving him a sly look before leaning up to capture Ellsworth's lips in a short kiss. Afterwards, he nudged him away so he could sit up and finally get out of bed. Sitting on the side, the El-Aurian raised his arms up to stretch his torso with grunt before standing up and repeating the motion on his way to the bathroom.

Ellsworth stayed in the bed to openly admire all the stretching. It was his favorite part of the morning but always seemed to end just when it was getting started. Back in the living area, he occupied himself with making micro-adjustments to cutlery until the guest of honor showed up.

Looking refreshed and dressed for the day, Oren sat down at the table for breakfast. Seeing the effort Ellsworth had put into it, he felt both loved and guilty. Ellsworth was always doing things like this; the other man had some kind of sixth sense when it came to romantic gestures and Oren often felt like he needed to catch up, despite his best efforts to convince himself that it wasn't a competition. Ellsworth didn't do things like this to prove a point, he did it because he genuinely loved Oren. Of course, considering the night before...

"This looks really amazing," Oren finally said, realising too much time had passed without any reaction. "Thank you."

"How did you sleep?" Ellsworth asked. He grabbed a serving utensil, scooped up two of the sweet muffins and transferred them to Oren's plate, all while looking him in the eye. He had an unusual sort of smile on his face that seemed to suggest some other level of pleasure in serving Oren like he was doing his best Risan impersonation.

"I slept well..." Oren said slowly, watching the way Ellsworth was acting with lightly confused eyes. He seemed to let it go quickly though and took up one of the muffins from his plate. Picking at it and popping bits into his mouth, he finally addressed the question fully.

"You were moving around a lot though. Did you have a bad dream?" he asked casually, not taking his eyes off the muffin in his hands.

Ellsworth was cutting his muffin into manageable bites; the knife went too far and dragged noisily along the plate just after Oren finished his question. He cleared his throat to try to cover the mistake. "Um, no. No, I don't think so. I don't remember any bad dreams. Did I say anything?"
