Mission: Episode 11 - Divinum Mundi
Location: USS Galileo, Deck 4, Main Shuttlebay
Timeline: MD8, 1630

Caymen was a pilot by trade - helm, operations, flight control, even strategic ops. Those and command were his focus for years in the academy and first coming out. It was upon being thrust into the command area full-time that caused him to step away from that love.

But he would always enjoy shuttle and starship flight. Even if he was technically civilian, he could perhaps enjoy the perks of the Federation Ambassadorial tag. But would that mean he could fly a craft as needed? Probably not. Greener decided to go down to the shuttlebay and find out. Perhaps the chief of flight control would be there.

As he entered the bay, Caymen looked around. "Hello?"

From behind one of the shuttles came a very young ensign. Her candy pink hair swung in bunches, with flared orbital arches that indicated non-human heritage, and she moved with a spring in her step that could only be called a bounce.

Miraj had come down to check in with Lemar Darious about his progress on rating for Nova's, but hadn't bean expecting to find anyone else down here. She looked around the back of Pisa where she'd been lurking. "Hello?"

"Ah," said Caymen as she popped out and spoke. He came to a rigid (not quite military) stance. "Ensign," he continued noting her pips. "Ambassador Caymen Greener. I'm looking for Ms. Derani. Is that you?"

She blushed a little, and then beamed at him. "Yes. Ensign Derani, Sir.," she added, noting the stance, and adding the honorific, just in case. "How can I help you"

"Well," Caymen replied. "I am a helmsman by trade and I just thought I'd see who was flying us around." He grinned, trying to hide his ulterior motives.

"Oh, Well, I'm just one of several. I mean, right now, Mr Jynn is at the helm, he's technically doing the flying. I have the alpha shift, I just came down to see if a colleague was finding some work plain sailing or if he wanted some help." She stopped. "Sorry. I'm rambling. Did you want to ask about anything particular."

Greener grinned. "Well, how hard is it for a Federation Ambassador to get a vessel to use?" He decided to be blunt. "I like to travel, and as a civilian, in essence, I can't just take a shuttle whenever I want... historically." When he was a captain he could, but that was many moons ago.

"Its not that hard." Miraj said. "Pisa or Virginia are generally available, it just needs to be checked against mission needs. You can't have Vincenzo though. Not unless you want to die on the way anywhere. He's got no warp core."

The older man chuckled. "Good to know." This would be a great resource, if they weren't in the thick of a conflict of some kind.

"WIll you need a pilot, or are your rated from shuttlecrafts?"

"I was once quite capable with heavy cruisers... many moons ago." Caymen's eyes were on one of the shuttles she had mentioned, although he turned and looked at her. "But as of my return to civilian service, I only retrained in shuttles and small scout vessels."

"Then you should be okay with Pisa and Virginia." Miraj smiled. "but let me know if you want a refresher. Once we get to Celes III there should be plenty of interesting flying."

Caymen bowed his head. "I thank you, ensign. And with that, I shall take my leave." The diplomat started to turn towards the door. "Oh, and if you ever want to talk shop, you can probably find me quite easily on this ship." He grinned and headed out.
