Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: USS Galileo - NCO Officer Quarters (Naess/Snow)
Timeline: MD 90 - 1600

[ON]

Torgier noticed the change the moment he opened the door to his quarters. He could sense the presence of another in the room, though he could not see the man just yet. He was assuming it was a man, of course. He could have been paired with a female officer, but he had a feeling this was not a she. "Hallo?"

A man in his late forties, slightly paunchy round the middle but trying to fight it, and with hair about to began a long and hard resisted retreat, stepped out of the head, dressed in boxers and a t-shirt. "Sorry, I was told you wouldn't be back for a bit." He held out a hand, "Crispin Snow."

He was a good deal shorter than Terje, and of the softer sort, but seemed personable. Offering a smile, he extended a hand to Snow. "Torgier Naess. I go by Terje. My session was cut short on the deck, so I came back to freshen up for evening duty." Relaxed in his home territory, so to say, and away from the formality of duty, Terje's accent broadened somewhat. "So we will be sharing the quarters, then."

"Looks like," Crispin went to a trunk and retrieved some slacks and a t -shirt. "But i promise you I'm laid back, neat, and whilst I do have penchant for Klingon Opera, I'm also a big believer in these,"! he held up a pair of headphones. "You'll barely know I'm here."

"Klingon Opera?" They were two words which - in Terje's mind - were never meant to come one alongside the other. "Can't say I have heard it before and a little ..." What was the word? Not cautious ... "Wary of."

"Well, its a lot like Wagner, only more shouty," Crispin said with a smile. "hence the head phones."

Terje smirked. "I've never been one for Opera. It is all 'Shouty' to me. A moment," He tugged at the sweat-stained shirt as he headed for his room.

"So, I was told you were in security?"

Stripping out of his clothing, Terje hunted up a clean t-shirt and pants before heading back out into the main room. "Yes. Mostly Brig duty, though I rotate on guard duty and general patrols." He looked sheepishly at Snow. "I had not been told anything of you prior to today."

"Operations." Crispin replied, "Interfaces mostly. getting different systems to talk to one another. Its like solving really hard crosswords. with the added bonus that if you get it wrong you could either have every Lcars between here and Vulcan return videos of kittens surfing on robot vacuums whatever you search for, or suck out all the atmosphere in the ship."

Terje blinked his eyes as he tried to sort whether or not the man was making a joke. Surely he was, and he smiled, though it wan't quite as confident as he might have wished. "That is good, though. My mother is an Operations officer; she works planet-side."

"It can be very interesting. You never know what you're going to be up against. But I've had enough of being in one place. I want to see a bit of the galaxy whilst I still have hair left."

That did earn a genuine smile as Terje made his way into the small kitchen. "I'm going to make some hot chocolate - would you like some?" He set about getting together his ingredients.

"Sure, that would be great." Crispin followed him through, and leaned against the blukhead. there wasn't room for two in the tiny kitchenette. "There can't be much for security to do on a small ship like this, surely?"

It would be easy to simply replicate, but Terje liked having a hand in some things. He set some milk to heat on the cooking surface. "Not as of yet. It is generally quiet before the action starts. And most troubles are base ones, handled by their teams." To the side, Terje diced up dark cacao and mixed it with some cinnamon and cayenne pepper. When the milk was simmering, he took it off the head and added the chocolate mixture, stirring it in. "So you are new as well, yes?"

"Just in time for departure. Looking forward to it. I've been trying to get posted here for about a year now. "

"Here on this ship?" That was surprising - perhaps simply because Terje had never aimed for any specific vessel, just opting to go where the fleet opted to send him.

"This place has a reputation for interesting missions in interesting places, and needing smart solutions. I hope to put my skills to use, get to work with new and alien technology, help the boffins find the secrets of the universe."

"Ah." Dividing the mixture into two separate mugs, Terje inserted cinnamon sticks into each before handing one to Snow. "Well then, here is to interesting."

Snow raised the mug and tapped it against Terje's. "May we live in interesting times."
