Miraj looked backed over her shoulder at her brother Malcolm, who lounged against a bulkhead just beyond the transparent airlock doors. He gave her an encouraging wave.

She pressed her communicator "Ensign Miraj Derani to USS Galileo. Reporting for duty. Permission to Board?"

Rebecca nodded her head to the female security officer, indicating permission was given for the officer waiting to board. In the yeoman's hand she held the transfer orders and the voice recognition had already signaled to indicate a match.

She still wasn't certain why she was here, Holiday had seen fit to want the new chief of flight greeted on arrival and escorted to her offices. She'd love to know why she'd been reduced to babysitting services...perhaps this was punishment for embarking on a relationship with Wilhelm, sanctioned by the Captain or not.

The woman watched as the airlock doors unsealed, her eyes momentarily strayed to the man leaning so casually against a bulkhead. He was soft in the eyes, anyother day and she might have introduced herself. Or she would have before she committed herself to a certain chief of science. Flirting was ok though surely?

He shifted slightly to get a better look at her, giving her an appraising look from head to foot, undressing her with his eyes, and gave her a mock salute. Miraj glanced back to see him openly eyeballing Rebecca and glared at him, making a frantic 'Cut it out' gesture.

Rebecca felt an unusual flush rise to her cheeks; a reaction which she wasn't used to and felt angry over. Mentally the yeoman told herself to cop on and grow up as she forced her focus back to the young woman,
"Ensign Miraj Derani I presume?"

"Yes Ma'am." She held out the padd that held her transfer orders. "I was ordered to report to Captain Holliday. I'm the new Conn officer."

Rebecca couldn't help allowing her eyes to wander back to the strange man. He was startlingly beautiful in a classic sense. He wasn't lean like Wilhelm's body was. Nor was his eyes as dark as her lovers. There was subtle differences between the two but the woman couldn't help feel a tiny attraction to the new guy. He was the kind of man she was used to.

Nodding her head in his direction, Rebecca directed her question to the Ensign, "Do you know that man?"

Miraj sighed, "That's my big brother, Mal. He came to pick up my shuttle and take it into storage, and see me off." She glanced back at him, He was still standing there, enjoying the view.

Rebecca tried to force her attention back to the woman she had come to meet but couldn't help the next words which slipped from her lips, "Why doesn't he join us? He won't get to see much of the ship but we can show him a little of where his sister will be based."

"Sure." Miraj would have to live with this woman, no point in making her unhappy twenty seconds in. She turned and waved to her brother, beckoning him close.

He smiled, showing bright white teeth, and pushed off the bulkhead, long coat swinging and came over to his baby sister. He had half a foot on her, making her look even smaller, even younger. Up close she could smell the musk and leather of his cologne and tried not to gag. "Mal, this is Petty Officer..."

Smiling, Rebecca finished the woman's sentence, "Petty Officer second class, Rebecca Williams."

"Petty Officer Wiliams," Miraj repeated, "This is my Brother, Malcolm Garrison, captain of the Stranger Tides

Mal took Rebecca's hand and bowed over it. The man had cheekbones that could be used a deadly weapons and his eyes gleamed with the sins of Angels. "Charmed."

Rebecca felt her face flush again as she cleared her throat and quickly took back her hand. This was not good...what the hell was wrong with her. She was acting like a blasted virgin who'd never seen a man in her life. Somehow she figured Wilhelm was to completely blame for this.

"Well if you two care to follow me, I'll bring you to Captain Holiday. How was your journey?"

"Following you would be my absolute pleasure," Malcolm replied, letting his eyes fall to her hips for a long moment. Miraj fought the urge to punch him. She needed to make a good impression. Not be foreever branded as some guy's little sister. "I believe Midge had an excellent journey. She was doing stupid stunts all the way from the Asteroid belt. She wants to put me in an early grave."

Miraj had squirmed when he used his pet name for her, but her jaw fell open at what followed. "How did you know that? Were you following me?"

But her brother ignored her, still pouring the tall, dark, and handsome onto the petty officer with a mechanical digger.

Rebecca felt a smile tug at her lips as she listened to the interaction between brother and sister. If memory served her right, the woman was only twenty one. Very young to be a department head but there must have been something about her that the Captain and Admiral liked. "I hope you don't plan on the same stunts with this old girl. You might end up giving most of the crew space sickness. Not a good foot to start off on."

Miraj was kind of hoping to do most of those stunts if she could get away with it., "Er, no, of course not." she said, trying to look innocent. "I'm not sure the inertial dampers could take it, even if I did get permission to suspend the internal gravity." She realised that the woman wasn't paying attention to anything but her brother's stupid firm jaw with its stupid stubble that made him look like a stupid hobo.

"Give it a week," Mal said, "And Midge will make this ship dance like nothing you've seen. You'll never look at starship in the same way."

As her smile widened, Rebecca put in an access code for the turbolift before indicating for both of her guests to follow. "Sounds like it's a good set-up in instances where we might encounter the enemy. In normal circumstances, I believe that Captain Holiday won't be too happy if he finds his coffee dumped into his lap because you decide to try out some acrobatic moves with the ship when it's not expected. How long have you both been flying for?"

"About twenty years." Mal told her. "Both of us. Do you fly? Or do you prefer to be flown?"

Behind them both, feeling ignored by the grownups, Miraj rolled her eyes at the cheesy line.

Rebeccca hadn't intentionally left the officer behind the group, Mal's presence was such that she didn't realise what had happened until it was actually done. The innuendo in his words wasn't lost as she looked over with a raised eyebrow. "I prefer words to actions I must say. It's easier to read a book about flying than to actually try and make it happen. I leave the technical to others and focus on my own...experience so to say."

Inwardly she cringed...she was meant to flirt back but the words didn't come as easily as they would normally. Why she wasn't sure...she knew that with one question she could have this man in her bed without hesitation. So why didn't she ask him....

"That's a shame." Mal was saying. "Because, as Midge keeps telling me, its not about man and machine. You get the best flights when you take the dividing line away entirely. Pilot, ship, completely intertwined, in perfect union..."

Miraj face-palmed.

Rebecca couldn't help the laugh before she programmed her authorisation into the turbolift in order to allow them access to the bridge. She could have given it verbally but with the presence of a civilian it wouldn't have been prudent.

Moving her body, the yeoman directed her next question at the man's sister, "Is he always like this?"

Miraj nodded. "Oh yes. Especially with the pretty ones." She realised that the answer she would have given to one of her brother's potential conquests was probably not the one she should have given a colleague with far more experience and influence than herself. Even if she technically outranked her. "I mean. Er. He. I'll shut up now."

Mal reached out and patted her on the head. "Don't worry Midge. I'm not going to embarrass you. Much."

Rebecca couldn't help but smile at the banter between brother and sister. Despite the embarrassment being experienced by the girl, if was evident to see she still cared about him.

Turning back to the man, but keeping Miraj in her sight, Rebecca tilted her head slightly to the side. He genuinely was gorgeous...she could imagine what he would look like naked and it didn't take any amount of imagination to know that he would be amazing in bed but he was just lacking...in what the yeoman still wasn't sure. "So we know your sister is based in flight, how about yourself? Are you a fleeter?"

Mal shook his head, "I'm strictly independent. Transport and courier services. I chose my clients and set my own course. See the galaxy under my own terms. Not tied down to anything. Or anyone." he paused, raised a dark eyebrow, "Unless I want to be, and have successfully negotiated limits and safe words."

Rebecca couldn't prevent the laugh that escaped as she felt the turbolift slow as it prepared to stop. "It can be a dangerous universe out there at times. A warm body can do wonders when your feeling lonely on your own."
