Of all the new posting chores to get through this was the one Miraj was least looking forward to, being poked by a sawbones and reciting all the many and varied small annoyances her unusual hybrid nature added to her medical file.

But it was best to strike colours and get it over with, so she tightened her bright pink hair and stepped into Galileo 's sick bay.

The time for leaving the docks was coming around again. Allyndra wondered just how many of the crew had injured themselves or overindulged especially after the mirror universe adventure. Her own time away had not been exactly relaxing dealing with House matters and things still felt rocky there but at least she had gotten some things done and her two companions had seemed to have enjoyed themselves. She sighed, she certainly could have used a bit of time at an Irsemia house but not this trip.

The distinct sound of the sickbay doors opened. She glanced at the chronograph, someone in early she thought. She got up and went to the office door. She spied a young woman with pink hair looking around and did not recognize her. It was possible this was a new recruit, she had almost forgotten they would be getting some new people.

"Not too many at this hour," Allyndra said. "I am Allyndra, how can I help you?" She did not use Ensign since this was her domain and she refused unless the need arouse to use title. There had been enough of that back home already.

Miraj held out an isolinear stick, trying not to stare at the striking blue eyes the doctor had. She'd never seen anything like them. "Ensign Derani, Ma'am. I'm the new Conn Officer. These are my medical records and I'd like to arrange the usual start of tour medical?"

Allyndra took the thing and set it to the side. She nodded, "Here unless the need arises I prefer to keep things more informal. Allyndra please, may I call you by your given name?"

"Yes, of course." Those eyes were intense. Completely blue, bluer than anything. "When would be convenient for the medical?"

"I have time now. As you can see we are limited, but you have your choice of three beds." Allyndra indicated the three beds all of which were thankfully currently empty. She got a PaDD and brought up the information. "So Miraj you are going to pilot the ship. Very good, I get others in here that say they are going to fly the ship but what do they know of flying?" She made that odd shrug which caused the gossamer wings to rustle to the side on her back.

Miraj,s heart sank when the doctor pointed at the beds. She'd hoped to delay the inevitable for at least another day.

She chose the middle bed and hopped onto it, feet swinging over the side.

"Flying with those?" She nodded at the fine translucent wings. "Nothing. But with a ship?" She shrugged. "I can't speak for others, but I don't know anything else. It's just something I do. Like other people walk or eat or breathe. I must have spent half my life at a helm of one description or another."

Allyndra made a nod of the head. "Just me. Very few know the joy of flying on your own wings. So..." she switched the subject. "I must say that according to your record you are Boslic? I presume your hair colouration is then a result of that genetics? I have only studied the species and never had the chance to work with them so forgive me my curiosity."

"Half boslic. On my mother's side. My Parents weren't expecting to be genetically compatible. But here we are. Pink." She tightened up the bunch on the left, even though it didn't need it. "I'm half human too. I'm not that awkward, I promise. A couple of weird allergies. I'm allergic to Axonol and Impovaline. I can't taste sour unless its really strong, but everything else is normal. Nothing major."

Allyndra smiled. "Half, yet and duly noted on the allergies. Now then lay back while I get a quick scan. While that is going on is there anything recent or something that I should be aware besides the allergies?"

Miraj swung her legs around so she could do as ordered and settled back. "I'm developing a tolerance to hyronaline." The bio bed started bleeping softly as it went about weighing and measuring. "As for anything. Nothing major that I know of. Low level annoyances. Funny reactions. Nothing life threatening, just annoying. It's all on the stick" Silence hung over them for a moment. "Have you been on board long?"

"Came aboard approximately a year after the ship initially launched. I was at Obsidian Colony previously and while I enjoyed the sea and sky there, I guess the itch to be back out amoung the stars was still a draw." Allyndra waved a hand at the very small sickbay. "As you can tell, this is not a large ship, so we all tend to get like family here."

"There, scan is done. I will just need to get a DNA sample for our records and you are done. Is there anything more you would like to know?"

Well that was easier than she feared. "No Ma'am. Just glad to be aboard, and itching to fly."

Allyndra got the DNA sampling kit. She smiled as she heard the fly part. She turned around and finding an open spot opened her wings and then beat them hovering for a moment a foot or so off the floor before settling back and letting the wings settle again. "Me too," she said with a little humour to her voice. "Now then, open wide, I need to take a cheek swab and we can let you go."

Miraj was only a little jealous. She'd wondered occasionally what it would be like to fly under her own power, but she een flying with a machine for most of her life and that would always be her first love. "They must be fun," she told the doctor, then dutifully opened her mouth for the swab.

"They are exhausting but I would not have it any other way. Perhaps sometime I can show you water dancing." Allyndra made a quick swab and then put the sample into the vial. "I have a holodeck programme that I have used to allow others to get a feel for wings and water."

"Yes, please!" the ensign jumped at the offer, almost literally. "I'd like that very much."

"Very good, well once settled in and you have time please then stop by and we can arrange a session." Allyndra made a few quick notes on the PaDD and then said, "Well you are officially checked in medically, welcome aboard Miraj."
