Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: USS Galileo: Bridge
Timeline: MD 25 - 0015

[ON]

Standing on the bridge, Noah reached down to run a hand over the ops console. It had been so long since he'd stood on a ship's bridge. Even docked, wrapped within the security of Jupiter station, he had a sense of ... fragility that one did not experience on a starbase.

Having just exited the ready room with a pile of PADD's balanced between both hands, Rebecca was a little surprised to be confronted by a face, or a body in this case, which she didn't know. His height was that struck her first...he must have had a good five to six inches on her but his body was intriguing...the lean lines hinted at what lay beneath.

With the refurbishments of the ship there were a lot of people coming and going lately but this man seemed different. The way in which his hand seemed to almost caress the panel came as a surprise to the yeoman, it made her wonder what the same caress might feel like on her body.

"Is everything alright Sir?" Rebecca kept the greeting formal as she didn't know his rank just yet and with her still being on duty, there was no point in causing unnecessary hassle for herself until she had properly weighted him up.

He was lost in his thoughts, his mind slipping back to the last days on the Thisbe, when the voice startled him back to present time. Noah blinked, shaking his head as he turned to find a dark-haired young woman peering up at him. "Ah ... yes, I'm fine. Just ..." He caught sight of her insignia. "Just checking things out." He smiled and added, "Lieutenant Noah Khoroushi."

Rebecca would have offered a hand, or even a salute given the rank, but her hands were a little full. Instead, the woman tilted her head to the side a little as she studied the man a little closer now she could see his face. His facial features echoed what little she could see of his lean body under the uniform. It was his eyes though that caught her attention the most, she found it difficult to place a specific colour to the brown and yellow hew. "Khoroushi....You've been assigned to ops haven't you?"

Noah nodded. "Assistant Department head, though I've yet to meet my boss." He knew it was going to be a while before he was able to make the Lieutenant's acquaintance; she was on Earth, and wouldn't be out to the station until the planned Symposium. Judging her red collar and lower rank, Noah took the woman for either flight or ...

"Lieutenant Min Nicholas would be your department head. She's a nice woman, pretty formidable though if you are found to be slacking off." Rebecca didn't intentionally with hold her name, it just didn't seem opportune to offer the information. "You're a long way from operations though I'm afraid. You're bases of operation it in the near bowels of the ship on deck six."

"Oh, I know that." He gave her a half-smile. "I've seen the offices and such just ... well, it's been a while since I've been on the bridge of a ship. Getting used to the feel of it again." And trying to convince himself it wasn't too soon, though that wasn't as difficult as he'd feared it would be. Perhaps because the ship was still in dock, but he would have plenty of time to adjust. "So what do you do?" Peering at her, Noah gave her a careful once over. She looked close to his own age with the same clear olive complexion and dark hair his sisters and mother shared.

Rebecca placed her hip against the edge of the operations console so as her back was to the darkened view screen, allowing her complete attention to be focused on the man beside her. Studying him a little more closely she found herself intrigued with his smile...it was almost shy in a way.

"I carry around PADDs haphazardly while people just watch it seems." The yeoman replied with a smile of her own as the humor twinkled in her eyes.

He chuckled a bit at that. "Do you have a name, then, or do folks just say 'Hey you?' or 'Petty Officer'?" She was cute, if he was perfectly honest with himself. A little flirtatious, but that wasn't a bad thing.

"Hey you is definitely a preference around here." Shifting her stack, Rebecca glared at the top PADD as if daring it to even think of falling. "Petty Officer is generally if I'm in trouble..which can be a bit. What kind of mood are you in today?" While the question might have seemed out of the blue, the teasing glint in the yeoman's eyes just deepened.

"Ah ... unless you're related to me, it's hard for me to get upset with anyone." She was flirting with him - while he didn't see himself as completely awkward, Noah had never felt the sort women went out of their way to attract. But, a little light-hearted banter never did any harm. Deciding to play along, he reached out to steady the PADD teetering at the top of her stack. "To be honest, though ... neither one sits well with me. I tend more toward familiar than casual informal."

Rebecca watched as once again the PADD threatened to topple, instinct was to grab it quick but reason dictated that all of her PADDs would then go flying. "Then Rebecca would suit the situation." Looking over, the yeoman blew a stray strand of hair away from her face as her smile broadened a little. "Any chance you might lend a lady a hand?"

Rebecca. It suited her. Noah's smile eased as well. "Of course," Forgotten was his adjusting to the deck - for the time being at least. "How may I assist?" Most likely she would get him to carry the Padds for her wherever she was headed. It wasn't as if he had a lot on his plate just now anyway.

"How about you take half of these and I'll manage the other half. Between us both, we should manage a better balancing act without incident." Indicating towards the turbolift with her head, Rebecca waited to see what the other officer would do.

Well, she was being judicious about it and not taking complete advantage of the situation; Noah scooped up the top half of the stacks, plus, perhaps, a few extra, and straightened them in his grasp. At her lead, he headed for the turbolift and pressed the control to call it to their deck. "So, Rebecca, it sounds like you're pretty familiar with the ship. Served here long?"

Rebecca took note of the extra baggage that the officer had taken and gave him extra marks for it. He was the gentleman it seemed, something which wasn't such a bad thing at times. It lead her to wonder what his manners would be like in the bedroom...would he be as gentle when she used his body for a mutual pleasure. "Lets see...I came onboard during our last shore leave if memory serves me right. If you do the maths, that would have been....about seven to eight weeks ago? She ain't a difficult ship to find your way around thankfully. Have you been assigned quarters yet?"

"Not just yet," he admitted, stepping aside to let her on before him when the lift arrived. "I'm staying on the station in guest quarters just now." With his sister, though Noah didn't think to mention that just now.

A light raised to Rebecca's eyes that matched the smile on her lips as she moved into the turbolift and watched as Noah followed. More gentleman ways...she wasn't sure if she should be scared off yet. "Well if you're willing to come that far, you want take a peek at my quarters. As a petty officer they won't be as nice as those afforded to an officer but it at least gives you an idea what you are in for."

"I'm sure they're not all that bad." It seemed a well-tended ship, he was sure the crew accommodations were more than sufficient.

Rebecca noted that he hadn't seemed to be against the idea of going to her quarters. Of course she may have alterior motives but she would see how to handle that once they were in her space. "Well now...which ship did you serve on before here?"

"Ah ... the Thisbe." The smile faded some and Noah glanced away, adjusting his hold on the PADDs as Rebecca gave the requested deck number. "It was unrecoverable so those of us left were sent to find new berthing."

The change in Noah's features was hard to miss as he mentioned the name of his previous posting. Rebecca admitted that she was intrigued but she didn't push for information, it was his to say if he wished.

As the turbolift began it's journey to deck four, the yeoman shifted her position so as her arm brushed against the officers. "Did many of you get relocated to ourselves or are you on your own?"

Noah started as she brushed against him. It was a causal gesture, he was sure; "I was the only one of the Thisbe relocated here, though my younger sister has accompanied me - she's on an independent study from her university and our parents figured she would be safe enough with me." He rolled his eyes. "She'll likely be assigned as my room-mate. It's what I've seen happen in the past."

Rebecca felt instinctive reflex from Noah as they touched but wasn't quite sure what to make of it...was it surprise or was it something more. A smile crossed her lips at the thoughts as the turbolift came to a stop and she stepped out at the officer's indication. "Better to share with your sister than a stranger I would have thought? What is she studying?"

"Biology." The topic had moved away from the Thisbe again and into more comfortable waters. He smiled down at Rebecca. "And I'm a good deal more comfortable having her with me than with someone else ... she's a little too adventurous for my taste."

As she lead the way to their intended destination, Rebecca felt Noah seem to relax again as he spoke about his sister. Moving her PADDs to one arm, she reached a hand out to gently squeeze his arm before pulling back. "Least the ship is also small enough that you will be able to keep a close eye on her. What age is she?"

"Twenty - old enough to fend for herself AND get in trouble all the same." He grinned, then inclined his head toward the door. "This yours?"

Nodding her head as her fingers flew across the access port, Rebecca found herself holding her breath as she hoped that Emmerson wasn't back yet. "I remember when I was twenty...mind you you probably wouldn't want to hear my stories as you might lock her in the brig and refuse to ever let her back out." As the doors parted, Rebecca indicated for her colleague to follow behind. "Can I offer you a drink?"

"Oh, water would be fine," he assured her, setting the PADDs down on a table. She had a nice little space, the walls bearing various trinkets marking them as a home rather than standard quarters.

Rebecca watched as the man observed his fate, activating the closure of the door behind him before placing her own PADDs beside his. "I did warn you that you'd be in for a surprise...you can have some solace in the fact that as a junior officer your quarters will be a slight bit bigger."

"It's not that bad," Noah chuckled. "Actually, it's better than some I've had." He turned and smiled down at her. "You've done a good job with it."

Rebecca shrugged her shoulders a little as she glanced around the tudy room. With Emmerson being so busy with his sister in law and her being so busy with...well busy, they didn't have much time to mess the place up. Unless one of the rare occasions occurred where they were both in the room at the same time in which case the room became untidy very quickly.

Taking his water, a sparkle flickered through her eyes. "If you need a place to rest your head while onboard consider there to be an open invitation. I'm typically on the beta shift but do alot of my work in the alpha shift also so usually there's always an empty bed."

Noah shot her a look, not sure how he was supposed to respond to THAT. Surely she hadn't meant ... "That's ... kind of you, Rebecca." Her face was the picture of innocence, though he couldn't miss a slight glint in her eyes. Playfulness? Or something more?

Rebecca's laughed as she heard the hesitation, it wasn't a cruel laugh but a gentle one, before holding out the glass of water. "Empty bed and empty quarters my dear. I generally don't take men to my bed unless they are willing in the first instance."

He should leave. She had said enough to indicate what she would like, and Noah wasn't the sort for casual dalliances, was he? He peered at her again and had to admit she had a pleasing shape to her. His mouth quirked ... "Might as well curl up in a closet somewhere if it's just an empty room."

Laughing Rebecca indicated for him to take a seat at the table as she moved across to the room and gathered a few clothes from her locker, unzipping her jacket as she moved. "I'm fairly certain that you might actually find that the closets around here have more space but I'm not certain that the floor would be as comfortable as the bed. Mind you...even that is pretty disputable. Not many...comforts are offered to the enlisted crew."

"Thanks for the warning," he chuckled himself, settling down in the seat, a bit caddy-cornered to the table so that his leg could stretch out a bit. Noah sipped at his water, keeping his eyes away from the open door ... well, not exactly a door so much as an opening. He glanced up once, then down again before he could catch Rebecca's eye.

As she shrugged the jacket from her shoulders, Rebecca pulled her undershirt up over her head, exposing the dragon tattoo which followed the curve of her spine. Looking back at Noah over her shoulder, the woman studied him for a split second before speaking, "I'm sure if I think it over, there's a few more warnings that I should probably give you."

"Oh really." He looked up again, and felt heat creep up the back of his neck. "I suppose there always the random unspoken quirks here and there." His eyes caught the edge of her tattoo before she turned.

Rebecca smiled at the man's words before turning her back to him again. Unfastening her trousers, she allowed the pants to slide down the length of her legs before stepping out of the pool of material at her feet. She was left in just her pants and bra as she shook out the clothes she had earlier picked out. "What's your plans for the next few hours?"

"Ah ..." What was he supposed to do now? There really was no leaving without creating a scene, and for the life of him Noah couldn't bring himself to leave ... he turned his eyes aside and finished his water. Setting the glass down, he stood and looked about the outer nook of her quarters. "I don't have any plans 'til this evening." And that, of course, depended on whether or not Yasmin wanted to eat out.

Unhooking her bra, Rebecca swiftly removed the piece of material before picking up the silk dress she'd picked. Pulling the garment above her head, the woman shimmied her hips as she coaxed the dress down over her curves until it stopped above her knee. "Join me for a drink. I can show you Callisto Bar and introduce you to a few of the locals on board."

When Noah turned again, it was with a bit of a relief to see her dressed again. He smiled. "That would be nice - I gather it's here on the ship?" At least, that was what he gleaned from how she worded it.

Having stepped from her shoes, Rebecca was now bare foot as she moved back to where Noah now stood. Her hands smoothed the dress over her curves before moving to stripe her hair of the pins holding it back. Shaking out her hair, the strands fell in waves over her shoulders and down her back. "Deck seven actually, one level below where your daily haunt will be. Callisto is the place for proper drink and snacks between meals. The only real place one can let their hair down while out in deep space."

He grinned at that. "So you're saying if the Ops department gets to be too overwhelming, relief is just a deck away?" The dress clung to her, leaving very little to the imagination.

Rebecca's smile widen at Noah's words before she moved to her shoes, choosing a pair of very high heels in a bolden red colour to match her dress. "Well now..I can't say that I would encourage it but.....

Moving over to Noah, the heels helped to shorten the distance between them both as her hands moved to unzip his uniform jacket. "...I'm sure that a blind eye could be shown where needed."

Reflexively, Noah's hands came to rest on Rebecca's shoulders, steadying her. "Ah ..." Sensibility was proving incredibly difficult as he inhaled her perfume. "What are you doing?"

As his hands came to rest on her shoulder's Rebecca didn't feel any great resistance in the hold he had on her. Her eyes looked up into his...again the strange colouring had her at a loss as she tried to read the depths.

She wouldn't deny it...despite her teasing she hadn't intended to go any further with this man. He'd a strange innocence to him that she felt it wasn't for her to breech. "Making you a little more presentable my dear. Can't have you escorting a beautiful woman such as me, while dressed in a stuffy uniform." Even as she spoke the words, her fingers moved to tussle the longish strands of his dark hair.

"I don't exactly have anything here to change into," he quipped. "Besides, I was always led to believe women found the uniform attractive." Her skin was soft and warm beneath his palms. "Of course, maybe the ladies were just trying to boost my ego."

"No my dear...." Rebecca teased the strands of his hair before leaning up to press her lips softly to his, just testing the water before she whispered softly, "...I'll think you'll find that a uniform on your body turns a woman on very much."

Sliding his hands along her arms, Noah leaned in and returned her kiss. It was light, but offered some promise for more. "Good. You had me wondering there." He wasn't sure how far she might wish to go, but for now this would do for him. "Now, how about that tour?"

Rebecca wasn't afraid t admit she was surprised...extremely surprised. She had expected a push back instead...instead she got t find out that the young officer wasn't such a bad kisser. Not only that...but he'd left it open for the possibility of more.

Moving her hand back up to his hair; the woman brushed a stray strand back before stepping back with a smile. "Tour of the Callisto bar m' dear. I have other outfits to better suit tours of the ship. I'll schedule you in for that tour one of the days this week."
