Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: Jupiter Station - Auditorium/Promenade
Timeline: MD 82 - 12:20 Hrs

[ON]

Mack made another pass around the backrooms of the auditorium, looking for any faults, any issues, anything that could interrupt the Symposium or threaten anyone on the station. While many people had time to rest, Security never does. It's always about work. You get the breaks when you can, but never anything big before something else happens.

Smiling and nodding at a passing technician, Mack made his way back into the auditorium. There, he saw the rest of security and maintenance technicians making their way around, trying to keep things running and secure for when the presentations began again. Walking in, he took note of the group of techs and security guards surrounding the bottom of the stage. They were bent down around an open panel. And in that panel, was a man....wearing security yellow.

"Greg..."Mack asked.

''Yah!?" Came a half muffled response from the man.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Hang on....hang on...." He said, half grunting before pounding something inside the maintenance panel, "...there!" He said through gritted teeth, before coming back out and looking at the tech next to him. "Try it now."

The tech nodded at another one near a control panel, who typed a few buttons before looking back. "We're good!"

"See, told you. Lose wire." Greg smiled, brushing himself off.

"Did.....did you just fix something?" Mack asked.

"Yah, the computer picked up a minor fault in....something. Techie here..."

"My names Bob, sir." Said the tech.

"...said that the problem sparked from this panel, and asked if a couple of us could help. Everyone else seems busy. I figured it was a loose wire. Got down there and, sure enough, it was a loose wire." Greg explained.

Mack knew there was only one reason Greg would be doing something remotely non police related. "Bored?"

"Very." Greg replied. "If I have to check the same bag one more time I may scream."

"It's only been a few minutes since the first half." Mack began.

"Yah, and it's going to be a few hours till the next one is over. I needed to do something."

Mack opened his mouth to say something, but the COMM badge signaled.

=^=Dispatch to any available officer, please respond.=^=

Greg was quick to tap the badge. "Dispatch, Sec 2-8. Go ahead." He replied with his temporary guard number while on the station.

=^=Please respond to a fight in progress, location: Promenade. Any available back up, to respond.=^=

"2-8, 10-4 responding to fight, Promenade." Greg responded. "Well, good. I love shaking things up a little."

"Yah, I'm sure." Mack said, before tapping his badge. "Sec 2-7 responding back up, fight on Promenade."

Greg looked at the technician. "Got everything under control, Techie?"

"Still Bob sir..."

"Good, alright Mack, let's go." Greg said.

---------------------Promenade---------------------

Greg came up to the restaurant, where two men were still going at it. One threw another onto a table and proceeded to grab a plate beat the other man with it. The other man brought his hand up to block the shots, while some continued to make an impact. Greg and Mack sprinted up and broke the two men up. Greg grabbed the suspect while Mack checked the victim. Both men had apparent bruises, and it was obvious the fight was mutual. Without their intervention, it could have got much worse.

Greg had the suspect in a full nelson hold. "Alright, alright! Calm down!" He yelled at the man who continued to try to fight him. "CALM DOWN!" He yelled again. The man struggled a second longer before losing his steam.

"Let me go, I'm gonna kill that little punk." The man said.

"Not a great way to start, chief." Greg warned. "Mack?"

"Yah, I got him." Mack said, dragging the other man who was dazed, but also angry, away to question him.

Greg tightened his grip. "Alright, listen up partner. I'm Security, so I'm expecting you to comply. I'm going to let you go now."

"Am I under arrest?" The man asked.

"Not yet. Not till we get this figured out. You gonna fight me?" Greg asked.

"....no sir." the man replied.

Greg released his grip and the man turned around slowly. He now noticed the man was Starfleet, wearing a technician yellow under shirt. Backing away to a safe distance, but still close enough to grab the man should he become an issue, he began to question him. "Alright...what happened." he asked.

"It was nothing sir, just something stupid. I would rather not talk about it." The man responded slowly.

"What?" Greg asked, in a monotone.

"It wasn't a big deal sir." The man said.

"Oh hell no." Greg began. "You guys drug my partner and I out here. You caused a scene. You are both injured. I already have enough crap on my mind with this big presentation thing going on here. You WILL be telling me what the issue is, or so help me I am throwing you both in the brig."

The man hesitated before looking down at the ground and answering. "We....we were talking about old school comic books. You know, from the old days? When they were on paper?"

Greg stared at the man, then rubbed his own eyes. "Are you kidding?"

"We got into a discussion about that one super hero, Silver Surfer." The man described. "We talked about which artist was the best. I said the Kirby Silver Surfer was the best, but he said Mobius was the best and that Kirby was crap. One thing led to another, he pushed me and I pushed him. It was stupid sir."

"Oh boy..." Greg said, before looking back up and crossing his arms. There were many reasons why this particular fight annoyed him, least of which being he was fairly certain he had heard this EXACT same argument before in an old movie. "Crewman, you got into a fight over a comic book?"

"Yes sir..." the man said.

"Ok, first of all. Stop 'sirring' me. I'm not an officer. Second, you are Starfleet. You are military. You need to keep a better composure than the others around you. Do you know how bad it looks to everyone? We have Admirals here. People who will kick you out. Do you know how serious this is, Mr....."

"Ibanez, sir." The man responded.

"Mr. Ibanez." Greg looked at his rank. "You appear to be a supervisor. You can get a commission almost immediately. Do you really want to piss off people who are in charge of your future?"

"No sir." Ibanez said.

"Good." Greg looked at Mack, who appeared to have a similar reaction. "Because this fighting crap is unnecessary and needs to stop. We are all on the same side. And anyone with any common since knows that the Kirby Silver Surfer is the only true Silver Surfer."

Ibanez chuckled a little.

Mack looked over, "Comic book?" he asked, confirming that the stories matched.

Greg nodded at him and spoke in a voice loud enough for both parties to hear, "Alright, here's the deal. We need to get back to work and we do NOT want to do any paperwork on this. We've got..." Greg looked at his watch, "Four minutes before that Symposium starts again. So this is what I'm going to do. You go to one side of the Station, we are going to send him to the other. I don't want you two anywhere near each other. I don't want you to even acknowledge they exist until you get sent to your ships. If we get called out here again, one or both of you are going to the brig. Understood?"

Both men nodded.

"Good, now go." Greg ordered. The men grabbed their things and walked off as far away from each other they could while remaining on the station.

Mack came back over. "Well, you got your wish."

Greg rolled his eyes and turned around and headed back to the auditorium. "When I wanted something hands on, I didn't want a near manslaughter call on my hands."

"You think letting them go was a good call?" Mack asked, walking with him.

"We'll find out soon. But let's pray it was, or it's both of our asses." Greg said.

Both men re-entered the auditorium and took their places for the second half of the Symposium.
