Sweat dripped from his forehead and ran into his brow, wiping it away from his face with the back of his hand. His fists began to wear and crack under the constant contact and blood starting to dry onto the surface of his clenched fists. Luke lunged in for another volley of hits and kicks sending his opponent back, reluctant as it were it kept returning taunting him. The motion of attack, wait and attack continued for several minutes until Luke found himself unquestionably hugging the punching bag breathing heavily into the warm worn leather which smelt oddly of old pine and liqueur.

He had been working out his stress with the upcoming battle games in the Cargo bay more times than he should have been and time he should have been working on a plausible tactic in defeating the superior enemy but couldn't muster the train of thought long enough to do such a task. Therefore he found himself hitting his frustration into a bag. Rolling back his soldiers and straitening his back he raised his fists and went back to punching, kicking and shouting abuse at the leather sack.

"You've a bit too much thrust in your left upper," Gyce pointed out as she came in fairly casually with a just-as-casual limp against her wooden cane.

Pausing in his stride he looked up and all too late realised his mistake as the bag decided it was time for payback and knocked him flat on his back. "Thanks," He said, holding his nose and looking up to the roof. "I think the Bag would agree."

"Most people go to the gym for this sort of workout," Gyce noted conversationally.

"I'm not most people," He countered avoiding having to explain why he liked working out alone. Pushing himself up off the floor rolling his shoulders and arms in circles back and forth. "What brings you here? I can't imagine the view?" He asked wiping himself down with a towel.

"Saw you on the monitors in the security office," Gyce admitted quietly. "Was curious what you were doing."

A smile tugged at his lips. He never really took in Gyce but she was shorter than him with red her and brown eyes. He very rarely took in much detail but the clarity of the moment or his mind wondering brought him to take her in, every bit of detail. "Should I be worried you're spying on me or happy you're monitoring the security channel," Luke joked winking and pointing to the drink next to where she stood.

She picked up the drink and deftly handed it to him. "I get worried when people carry large objects at any given moment. Besides, I haven't done any house calls today so I wanted to walk a bit."

He nodded, taking the bottle their hands brushing. Uncapping the bottle and squirting some of the liquid into his mouth. "Well I can't complain about your enthusiasm. You'll make an excellent department head even captain some day," he offered with smile. "So how are you?" Luke asked curiously sipping down more fluids.

Gyce responded with a shrug. "Meh... Our MAA sabotaged one of my investigations by tipping off a suspect. The XO thinks I'm overly protective and paranoid. So I can honestly say... Meh."

"Meh it is." He chuckled. "Sometimes people get jealous especially of those who quiet clearly are gifted in their field. You're a rare breed and a unique individual so don't let that get to you, and if anyone else try's to put you down come to me and I'm sure we can iron thing out" Luke said before continuing. "I look after my team so that when we get down to the gritty stuff they look after me." He offered her a smile.

"I'm not sure if your team likes having a non-combat rated member on it," Gyce laughed lightly, in spite of the situation. "But I can certainly come to you in the future, sure."

"You should laugh more, it brings out your eyes," he complimented trying to make light for the situation before going into department head mode. "Everyone has their roles to play, we're all just cogs in an ever going machine and whether they like it or not you're apart of that machine and as vital as any of them if not more." he replied sipping the last of his drink and standing next to her "So you don't do any combat?" He asked. "Not eve the friendly competitive type?"

"I am qualified as a sniper, but because of my physical limitations, I'm not an ideal hand-to-hand. Thus I'm not rated for CQ missions. But give me a comm unit and a good vantage point, and I'll either snipe the bad guys out of your way, or lead you out of harm's way without notice," Gyce admitted with a bit of a blush.

He nodded gaining a smile from her blush. "Nonsense you're basically carrying around melee weapons all the time. I bet with a bit of training and a bit of tumbling down and getting back up again you'd be almost as good as me" he winked joking.

"Cute," Gyce laughed skeptically. "But I actually have used my cane numerous times to bring suspects down. You'd be amazed how often a I'm overlooked in the streets, especially when I blend in with the locals. Not that hard to catch someone by surprise."

"That's the spirit you're my secret weapon of mass destruction!" He teased with a wide grin scores his face.

"I try to use my brain more than my braun to solve problems," Gyce noted skeptically to his enthusiasm.

"And I applaud you for using that but we're all better at something," He said flexing his right arm.

Gyce smiled as she too agreed. "We balance each other in the department then."

"Indeed we do," He smiled standing up and stretching his back out. "Well this old goat has some files to sort and crewman to scold." He stated picking up his gym bag and towel. "Keep doing what you're doing Gyce. You might be Chief soon and then you can do all the things you want." He said pretending to tip his hat.

"Take care, Lieutenant Wyatt." Gyce nodded her head respectfully to him as well.
