Olsam's big blue face appeared on the monitor in the executive officer's office, filling up the screen almost entirely given how close he was to the camera. The backdrop, or what little of it could be seen around his head, was her former office. The new Acting Chief Medical Officer seemed to be taking to with enthusiasm, populating tables and walls with pictures of his numerous family members. He grinned when he saw Allyndra and then, as if remembering something, looked a bit sheepish.

"I spilled coffee all over your desk this morning. I think it might have stained. Sorry."

Allyndra was surprised with Mott's call and wondered if that was really necessary to call to tell her he had basically made the place his. She looked past what she could see and all the family photos that could be seen. She sighed, she so had wanted a family but it seemed to be a more and more distant dream.

"No worries," Allyndra replied. "I can see some photos, family correct?"

"Hmm? Oh! Yeah," Olsam turned around, looked over his shoulder, then back to the console with a smile. "I kinda miss them now that they're gone. A little. I'd probably be miserable two days after they showed up if they returned. No pictures of people from Akkadia?" He made a show of trying to look around her then frowned a little. "I can send some pictures of my family up if you'd like." Without waiting for an answer, per usual, he pressed on. "I was calling to see if you missed me, yet. I can send up a hologram of myself, maybe stand him in the corner or something. It has to be lonely in command!"

Allyndra stiffened at the mention of family. She shook her head in the negative, "No I can always call to see your face or stop by. A hologram is not necessary. I much prefer to talk to the real thing anyway. Perhaps if there is time again I can convince you to try some more of my cooking. I am sorry I did not have a chance to cook for your family visit perhaps next time?"

Olsam laughed at her joke, then realized maybe it wasn't a joke. "Uh, the whole family? You'd need the galley. And seven assistants. But I could see how the challenge is appealing! Maybe we can have dinner before the wargames start? Are we allowed to do that? Are senior staff supposed to stay in their own area of the ship? I don't know, I've never been senior staff before."

"Well not sure were I would round up seven assistants so maybe just the most immediate then, however I am sure we can have a little sit down before the games start. Personally I am glad that I cannot eat most things, the only appealing about any Klingon cuisine in my mind is their wine. Anyway, of course you can leave and move around when off-shift. I will expect to see who is covering what shift though. Tell you what, stop by this evening, we can have a quick dinner and we will call it official as you give me your duty roster for sickbay. Deal?"

Olsam grinned, clearly appreciative of her management style. "Deal. Oh, uh, do you, uh, think you could make some more of those roquefort and onion tarts? They were really quite good. I think about them sometimes. Often."

"Anything for my Chief Medical Officer," Allyndra smiled and nodded.

"Everything is going well here. So far, no one has died, to my knowledge. All the patients have been treated and left Sickbay alive. Oh, and I've taken on an assistant - Dr. Wylde's son, Laeon. He's just doing small chores around, nothing too serious, but he's come in handy so far. Did you know he's actually quite old? Like a couple of decades older than me! It feels weird telling him what to do sometimes..."

Allyndra had to smile at that. She had gotten used to the Bolian sense of humour and ways of saying things. Almost everyone else would be wondering if patients had died or not.

"Oh?" Allyndra had not heard that and made a mental note to make a note in the official duty roster which was now one of her new duties. "Well, remember your still senior in skill no matter his age. Tell you what if you would consider it, how about giving him some training and certifying him as an emergency medic. It is your call of course."

"Sure, I could do that," Olsam said, getting a far-distant look in his eyes. "I will mold him into a medical professional, like clay in the hands of a master potter." His eyes snapped back to the screen and he grinned. "I think the counselors could be included, too. We're not completely short-staffed down here, but it will give them something to do. So... How are things on Deck 1? Is Norvi a scary captain? You just let me know if I need to relieve her of command. I don't have a problem with it."

"Oh no, everything is fine. Things are going smoothly. Anyway, your correct, I had forgotten that our new Counselor is also medically qualified. A good chance to utilize some skills there. Are you going to give her a medical shift? Who is covering gamma these days?"

"I hadn't really thought to give her a medical shift, but I suppose that would help ease some of the strain. Dr. Mercy has been covering Gamma shift with my assistance; I've been pulling double shifts, but I think I'll rearrange the schedule to have Dr. Chaparral and Dr. Devin pick up the slack if they're amenable to it. And then there's Shirley," Olsam grumbled, curling his lip. "She's ever-present, of course, always ready to 'help,' as she calls it. Did you know she can turn herself on and off? It's ludicrous."

"Well I leave that in your capable hands. Tell you what, you bring your recommendations by say 2000 hours by my quarters along with some Bolian Brandy if you have some left and I will look it over, over dinner. Sound like plan Chief?" Allyndra teased slightly the title but it was not sarcastic in the least. Mott had his ways but it almost always made her day brighter.

"I always have some Bolian brandy," Olsam said, leaning close to the monitor and dropping his voice to a whisper, "I have a source." He winked and then sat back in his chair with a grin. "Dinner sounds wonderful, commander."

"Excellent, then see you there and by the way Doctor, unless it is in front of crew please Allyndra. I will even teach you how to say it properly. 2000 hours it is then, bring your recommendations, yourself and a good appetite."

"Always, Allyndra," Olsam said with a toothy grin.
