Mission: Episode 07 - Sojourn
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 3 Sickbay
Timeline: MD07 - 11:00hrs

The worst, as he considered it, was out of the way. Tulkas had only to snag his medical appointments and then he had finished everything absolutely required of him. Luckily for him, he had no fear of Doctors. Not the kind that poked and prodded with physical objects, anyway. No, he had what he considered a healthy fear of individuals who made it their lives work to poke at other peoples personal problems with words instead.

So it was that he wandered into sickbay as relaxed as he had been so far this morning, fully expecting to get this physical out of the way quickly and without fuss.

It was still early enough before she went to have some sleep and before lunch yet though most would not call what she had much of a lunch. Allyndra decided to stop by sickbay and see how Tuula was handling things. As she approached sickbay she noticed a man just heading toward sickbay that she did not recognize as she came around the corner.

"Good morning," she called out cheerfully. "Are you new Lieutenant?" Allyndra asked. This was a fairly small ship and she had seen virtually everyone come through sick bay at one time or another.

Tulkas paused just as he was about to enter sickbay and turned, noticing Allyndra's pips and tightening up slightly. "Yes Ma'am." From what he could recall, there were only three Lieutenant Commanders who'd be wearing blue, and he'd already met the other two.

"Commander Illm Warraquim, I assume." He smiled slightly, offering out a hand for her to shake. It was unusually outgoing for him, but he often found Doctors to be the most enjoyable company, and he'd never met an Akkadian before, his curiousity was piqued.

Allyndra visibly winced at the appellation. It was wrong on so many levels but she took the hand. "Your are correct but please Allyndra. I have a rule that I do not use rank unless a superior officer or I absolutely need to." She decided to forgo saying that Warraquim was her Guild House and not a surname. StarFleet and many others tended to surnames and it was just something she was reluctantly having to get used to. "I am sorry, but I can not seem to put a name to the face are you new on board?"

"Tulkas Eido, I'm joining you as an exobiologist." He smiled again. "Seems you've not had one until now, so I'm looking forward to getting started. Speaking of, I'm due a physical, hence the visit to sickbay."

"Ah! Well welcome aboard," Allydnra replied. "Come on let me introduce you to Tuula she should be on duty right now. I was just popping in to check on an experiment I have going in the lab." She led the way through the double doors.

"Tuula? I have a patient for you," Allyndra called out as she entered.

"Yay! A patient!" exclaimed Tuula from the office. Something about being made to work while docked at the station had Tuula bored. "I mean, welcome to sickbay. I'm Doctor Tuula Voutilainen," she added as she rolled herself out of the office to greet her latest patient.

"Tuula, this is Tulkas Eldo our new exobiologist and here for his official check in physical. I just came in to check on how the organic molecular nanite assembly is going. A pleasure to have met you Tulkas." Allyndra said.

"You too, Allyndra." He extended his hand to Tuula and smiled. "Good to meet you, Doctor. Feel like giving me an introductory physical?"

"It would be my pleasure," replied Tuula. "Denobulan anatomy is very fascinating," she added in a gushing voice. "Isn't that right, Allyndra?"

Allyndra paused on her way to the lab. "Yes, it is but then I find others are always interesting. I suppose mine would be much different and to some fascinating as well. However, very few chances to observe thus if you would not mind Tuula and Tulkas may I stay and watch?"

"I don't mind," replied Tuula. "Tulkas, if you'll allow me a moment to pull up your medical file. Feel free to get comfortable on one of our fine biobeds."

Allyndra nodded in appreciation. She did not want to seem to be intrusive here.

"By all means, I'm not shy." He moved over to a biobed and hopped on it, perching on the edge as he made himself comfortable. "I'm afraid I have a terribly boring medical record."

"Awww, that's too bad," replied Tuula from the terminal as she downloaded it onto a PADD. He was right; it was quite boring. No diseases, no illnesses, and no major injuries. The first two likely in no small part to the resilient Denobulan immune system. Of course, that was probably for the best, though it didn't help Tuula get through a dull Tuesday in sickbay.

"Well," said Tuula after a moment of scanning his file, "I don't suppose you've been having any problems, or noticed anything out of the ordinary?" she asked as she pushed herself back towards the patient.

Tulkas chuckled. "We can pretend if you like. I have a number of things I need to organise with you, however." He gave Tuula a small smile. "I'll be needing to sleep within the next couple of months, for one. Ordinarily, I organise a quarantine on my room when I do that. The Galileo is smaller, hence sharing a room, so what are my options for a lockdown?"

"The brig might be nice," replied Tuula, remembering that Denobulans need to hibernate from time to time. "Hopefully you won't have any roommates there," she added as she pulled out a medical tricorder.

"Works for me, as long as I won't be disturbed." He nodded slightly, it wouldn't be the most comfortable bed in the world, but once he was asleep, he wouldn't care. "And I'd appreciate it if you'd authorise a Keratin suppressant. I'm not a fan of clipping my nails, but it is your departments call."

"I think that can be arranged." Tuula continued scanning Tulkas with the tricorder, reaching up high to scan his head and then back down to his feet, waving it back and forth and all around as she got a picture of his fascinating anatomy. "You appear to be in good health. Is there anything else you would like me to look at?"

"Nothing I can particularly think of! Sorry for being so boring." He smiled at Tuula, a lot wider than he normally allowed himself. "Still, plenty of excitement planned for shore, I bet."

"An interesting idea the Brig. I suppose we could put a quarantine sign up. Would you require a folicular suppresent as well? I am not sure how fast Denobulan hair grows. It has been some time since I had to keep up with your species." Allyndra said and for some strange reason she wondered what they would taste like.

"Oooh! And we should also get you a nicer bed," suggested Tuula. "I've never spent the night in the brig, but I can't imagine the beds would be that comfortable. And the last thing you want when hibernating is an uncomfortable bed. Or so I would imagine."

Tylkas chuckled. "We can probably worry about that later, I can't imagine we'll have anyone in the brig though, so it sounds like the best option." He looked at Allynda. "I've never noticed my hair growing any faster than most people, so I'll pass on that particular option. Thank you though."

"Very good. As I mentioned it has been awhile since I dealt with a Denoblian patient and will have to 'brush up' on the physiology," Allyndra replied feeling a bit funny about admitting her shallowness of his physiology. She covered a bit by saying, "Brig is mostly boring, but the bedding is not really that bad. I should know having in one before. And no, before you ask it was because of the take over of the ship not because I got put there by Fleet. While there is little to do, bad food and bedding make for prisoners that want to escape more incentive. Well anyway we will make you comfortable as we can for your hibernation. Tuula thank you for letting me be an observer." Allyndra made a small dip and then headed toward the lab.
