Mission: Episode 01 - Project Sienna
Location: USS Galileo - Diplomatic Offices
Timeline: MD 08 - 0900 Hours

ON

Theron stepped off the turbo lift on Deck 4 looking left the right, and then down at his PADD. He was still getting used to the layout of the small ship. Theron took the passageway to the right and counted, "It should be the third door on the left." he said aloud.

Stopping in front of the door Theron noticed a shiny new plate on the side that read, Chief Diplomatic Officer, Ensign RhettBrubwick. Ens. Rhodes pressed the chime.

The door opened with a hiss, revealing a small room with three doors, an empty desk and chair, and a potted fern in the corner. The door on the left was transparent and showed the ship's library. The one on the back wall, to the right of the desk, had a placard that read Assistant Chief Diplomatic Officer, and immediately below it one that read, Diplomatic Officer. On the right wall, nearly in the corner, was a door with a placard next to it. Its angle was too extreme to read from the doorway.

Ens. Rhodes stepped in. A type of music was playing that Theron could not quite place. He said loudly, "Hello?" and then said even louder, "Is anyone here?"

Rhett heard something that didn't sound quite like the Bajoran metal band he had playing through the speakers of his office. He ignored it for a moment before he decided that he could no longer just ignore visitors. He shut off the music with a tap of a finger and straightened his uniform as he stepped out of his office. "Hello, can I help you?"

"Well," Rhodes hesitated and continued, "Actually I am here to help you. Well, I was asked to report here concerning a security check. I am Ens. Rhodes of security." Theron just stopped talking, realizing that he was babbling.

"Oh, yeah." Rhett said with a smile, "I saw you on the shuttle here. How have you been since then?"

"Doing well, thank you." was Rhodes' calm reply. Not wanting to be rude, but needing to complete his task he continued. "Was there some security issues that needed to be checked for your office?"

"Oh, sure, I guess." Rhett hadn't scheduled anything, but then again, he still wasn't sure why he would need a security check anyway. "Have at it. I don't know what you were sent in here to check, but you're welcome to look around. I haven't had a chance to make it feel like home yet."

Theron glanced down at his PADD to confirm his instructions, and spoke as he read. "I have instructions to confirm security for this location for you." He looked at Ens Brubwick, "I would guess that would be for a initial baseline sweep confirming no devices for sensing or recording being present. You being the diplomatic officer would need confirmation that nothing taking place here would be know to anyone without your permission." He ended with a confident smile.

The diplomat smiled in return and gestured to the small suite. "Well then, be my guest. If you need any help, please, let me know."

Ens. Rhodes gave a confirming nod and extracted his sensing equipment. He walked about the room going over electronic equipment, items on the shelves, and on the walls. Half way around the room he came to an object on the shelf. He did not recognize it. The tri-corder provided a breakdown of it's make up, but was nothing exceptional. He looked toward Ens. Brubwick, "May I ask what this object is?"

Rhett shook his head, "I have no idea. It was here when I got here." He looked at it, "It looks like a vase of some kind, although what it is for is anyone's guess."

Rhodes continued to scan the object. It did look something like a vase with a soft brown smooth finish which had a few dimples in it, here and there. The strangest thing about it was that his tri-corder was not getting any reading from it. It was not reflecting or allowing any sensing to take place. It appeared to small and fragile to contain that type of technology, but that may be its purpose. Rhodes looked at Ens. Brubwick and said, "I will need to get a detachment down here to properly secure it." He made the necessary notations on the PADD and stepped back, looked at Brubwick and asked, "You were on the shuttle when I transferred over to the Galileo, where you not?"

"Yeah. I was. I didn't chat much, but I was there."

"I understand." Ens. Rhodes replied and was about to ask something more when the PADD beeped . He looked down at it and said, "A couple security personnel will be here in a few minutes. We should actually step out in to the corridor, please."

Rhett nodded, "Sure. No problem." He triggered the sensor in the doorway and stepped through into the hall. "So Rhodes, how long have you been with Starfleet?"

Stepping out into the corridor Rhodes replied, "Almost one standard year out of the Academy."

"How has it been? I hear the first year is the hardest." Rhett leaned up against a wall, comfortable where he was.

"In a way." Theron replied. "I was stationed aboard a large Starbase, DS5. It really wasnt the work I was looking for."

Two security personnel walked up at that moment. Ens. Rhodes instructed, "There is a vase looking object on the small table. Remove it for further study."

"Understood, Sir." the crewman replied.

Rhett nodded, "Sounds like you've gotten the hang of things."

"I have learned a few things, . . . "

He was interupeted by the two security personnel walking out with the vase in their container. "Any instructions, Sir." asked the crewman.

"Take it to the Science Department under high security for analysis." Rhodes instructed.

"Aye Sir."

After they walked away, Rhodes turned back to Ens. Bubwick, "I believe that completes the inspection, for now."

"Okay." Rhett extended a hand to the security officer, "It was nice to meet you, officially."

"Same to you Ensign." Theron replied uncomfortably. He felt uncomforable, because he had enjoyed getting to know Rhett and would have preferred being more corrdial. He smiled and said, "I hope to see you around."
