Location: USS Galileo - Deck 5, Holodeck 1
Timeline: MD 07 - 1535 hrs

Previously, on Casualties (Part 6)...

Moving was not something Asahi was all that interested in. A triage bed sounded more comfortable than the floor, but movement meant he would have had to deal with the pain that came with it. "Oh, I'm good. I think it's just a knee dislocation anyway. The floor is all nice and comfy and-" He went to give the floor a faithful pat, nearly screaming everyone's eardrums out the moment a sharp pain shot through his body at the slight twitch of moment. Gritting his teeth again, he attempted a smile. "... Honest, just fine. I'm sure there's someone else who could use the bed!"

"Eventually," Naois reassured him, "and otherwise we will simply add more beds to the program." He easily lifted him up in his arms, conscious of his injuries and mindful of them, but jarring his was inevitable. "I am moving you to a bed sir, and then I will tend to your injuries." He had grimaced visibly when his scream assaulted his sensitive hearing. "Tell me what happened," he asked his again.

And Now, the Conclusion...

[ON]

As expected, another, quieter scream flopped right out of Asahi's mouth before he could stop himself, followed by a trail of wimpery, 'ohgodjustcutitoff's and 'goddamnit!'s. Once he settled into the bed, however, the protests died down, and the engineer was back to gritting his teeth. The smile that appeared on his lips would have been much less pained if not for that searing agony. "Right... thanks..." After a brief pause and a deep breath, he nodded. "I-we-all fell down a giant hole." He paused, trying to eloquently place his words. "... And some of us didn't fall as gracefully as some of the others. I think mine's just a knee thing? Dislocation?" Memory was, to put it simply, a bitch, what with all the chaos going on. "He's mended some of it, but he mentioned it needed... a proper fix."

Naois nodded as he examined the damage to his leg. "Keep talking," he instructed as gentle hands probed the injury. He wanted his patient distracted from anything he was about to do, knowing he might pass out anyway when he reset the dislocated joint. "Do you wish any sedatives or other painkillers?" he asked as he moved to cut away the fabric around the man's leg. While he had the necessary tools to do it without cutting away clothes, Naois preferred to actually see for himself what he was touching. He steeled himself against any skin on skin contact, closing off his mind.

"I asked Dr. Wilde about it, but can you just cut it off, actually? He said something about setting a thing somewhere, but I don't remember him finishing." As typical for Asahi, sarcasm was dripping from every word as he continued. "Dunno what I'd talk about really. I mean, between this and the tribbles, we're all gonna go insane. Freakin'... zombie Cardassians who have no sense of laying down when they're shot at-not that I'd shoot at anyone, mind you. I can't hit the broad side of a starbase if it was grounded and docked. That doesn't mean these rude-ass zombie-energy-tentacle-Cardassian-monsters need to be ambling around like nothing effects them. I find that rude, like they're breaking the rules, which is just crap. If we've gotta follow the goddamn rules and keep ourselves susceptible to phaser fire, so should they!"

It was reset? Naois frowned as he gazed at his patient, then at his tricorder, then back at his patient. Gently, he probed the swollen joint again, being very careful about it. "With replicators down, there is not much I can do but bandage your injury lieutenant," he offered, "and administer painkillers so you will be able to rest. "Do you have anyone that can help take care of you after you are dismissed? I want you to stay off your leg as much as possible, and keep to rest. Preferably, with your leg elevated and supported under your knee joint."

Being a hologram, moving round the makeshift sickbay was much easier than might have been anticipated for an organic. After a moment finishing with the previous patient the hologram transferred his program to the edge of the biobed next to Lieutenant Stace. Reaching for a medical tricorder (holographic in this case - but with the safeties off in this program it was equally effective) he began to analyse the situation.

"Not to worry Lieutenant. We will have you back in action in no time."

Stace looked up to the hologram with a wince, having managed to struggle to get her cracked helmet off herself. "Thanks," she mumbled and hissed as she was now lay flat onto a biobed being tended to. Unlike most people she had noted, she didn't harbour any animosity to the medical program and actually felt comforted by its presence. As he passed, she gripped onto the cuff of his sleeve as another dagger of pain shot through her abdomen. "Argh, shit!"

"Steady Lieutenant. The repair job done in your leg isn't exactly what I would call textbook - the soft tissue inflammation is pressing on several nerves - I however am more than capable of rectifying the issues. I'm going to administer an analgesic and begin work on the bone regeneration."

"Not that I'm questioning your expertise," Stace replied, hissing between contractions of pain, "but could you quickly access my medical database? There's a certain compound that reacts badly with the Symbiont but I can never remember what it's called."

The EMH was perplexed that the Trill would ask such a question - every momeny of every day his program was interfaced with the medical database in the ship's main computer which was in turn updated hourly to match the central database on Earth at Starfleet Medical. Picking up the osteoregenerator the hologram began to work on the repair before replying.

"The very reason you ask is to question my expertise Lieutenant. I would never endanger my patient by exposing them to any compound without complete faith in the biocompatabilty of the drug. Have you had a...bad experience before?"

"Not with you," Stace quipped defensively. "Yet!" she then added with a raise of her eyebrow as she sucked in another breath to stay the pain, "but there's a first time for everything. I'm just being over cautious."

The hologram gave a smile as he acknowledged the naturally cautious nature of most organics when it came to their medical condition. It's program of course didn't suffer from such a problem, but it was unlikely to be the right course of discussion to follow.

"Well rest assured you are in safe hands. There...that should take care of the re-knitting - how does it feel Lieutenant?"

Stace shuffled on her rump again and began to move her toes. It felt normal, if a little weak. She smiled and shot the doctor a look. "Thanks, Doctor!"

"Can someone cut this damned helmet off me?" Scarlet Blake shook her head with a frown, regretting it with the throb of pain in the base of her skull from the movement, and then the wave of nausea that followed it. Not so clever. "The seal was damaged on impact and I need to get out of here."

Luke had mostly remained mostly quiet but watched as Blake struggled to free herself of her helmet, not requiring immediate medical attention (at least he decided to himself) he stood up holding his arm to his ribs "Can that anyone be me?" He asked looking around for something to help with the helmet that in a way he found slightly funny and couldn't help but smile.

"Yes please!" she sat back with an impatient sigh at herself, her fingers still trying to force the buckled catch, but it was shifting nowhere. "I can't work with this stuck on me forever..." she said with a half smile back to him. She couldn't get the blood cleared up either. The sooner they could take control of their crew and what had happened down there, the better.

Luke shrugged as he picked up an object he couldn't describe as he began undoing the broken buckles to her helmet "I'm not sure the helmet is meant to be coming back into fashion" there was a click as the first buckle broke free "you could be leading a revolution!" He teased breaking free the next buckle.

Scarlet let out a soft breath of relief at hearing a slight hiss as the first clasp gave way. "Right now, I want to be making sure that no one else is leading a revolution," she lifted her eyebrows with meaning over all they had witnessed down on the planet.

"I guess there's no rest for the wicked huh?" He smiled and broke free the last buckle and went to lift the helmet of her head. "I hope the next mission we get sent on isn't as exiting as the previous... I'm starting to think we need a bigger boat. First the Borg now this..." He broke off as the Helmet sighed when he began to lift it up over her head.

"Mission on Risa would be good, thanks Luke," Scarlet murmured, sighing with relief at having it off. She took a moment just to breath, able to peel off the rest of her suit now the helmet was free. Her head was throbbing, but as she looked around and saw the slow process of treating, she decided she'd had enough waiting around to be seen to. There was too much to do to wait indefinitely.

Pushing herself up, Scarlet straightened her uniform jacket. "See you soon," she said softly before leaving the Holodeck, moving as quickly as she could down the corridor to get to her office. There was way too much to report, run searches on, put together and work out, and it couldn't wait.

Gabriel Stark was looking around with a slight frown, his lips pursed thoughtfully at the First Officer having left. The medical staff were clearly busy, and he knew he was fine, just surface scrapes by some minor miracle. He pushed himself up from where he'd been sat by the wall and also showed himself out. All the most experienced Security staff were detained getting fixed from the best of his knowledge, so he headed to the Security Office to hold the fort in case there were any repercussions from what they'd been a part of on the planet....he'd seen stranger things.

Luke didn't have time to say anything in return before Blake left the holodeck, usually he would do the same and seek medical attention later but his ribs throbbed with pain. Turning back towards the centre he waved to get any attention from the treating staff.

Kohl was stuffing replacement supplies in his medi-kit when he saw Luke waving for some attention. Kohl left what he was doing, but brought the medi-kit as he crossed the holographic hospital ward. Before he reached Luke, Kohl had a tricorder in hand, and he called out, "Are you in any pain?"

Luke looked to the man with a frown "Only a little" He winced holding his ribs "Nothing a bit of pain killer and rest cant handle" He added as his ribs throbbed with pain he wish he had made a be line for his office like Blake and Stark. He hated being injured.

At first, Kohl looked Luke in the eye and nodded at his words, as if there was a real possibility he was going to discharge Luke immediately. When Luke didn't go on to describe any of his pain, Kohl consulted the display on his flat tricorder. "How about you take a seat on that biobed there, please," said Kohl. "It's looking like you have a hairline fracture on your tenth rib, but I need the overhead sensor cluster to confirm. I can probably inject you with surgical nanites which can repair the damage, and you won't even have to stick around."

Luke nodded with that and sat down quickly, the faster Kohl could administer the nanites the faster he could get back to work he had heard the call over comms for security in sickbay and hoped that the situation had been resolved.

"If I release you now, if we take this route of treatment, I need you to promise to check-in to Sickbay in about four hours," Kohl said firmly. He didn't look at Luke while he spoke, except for a couple of passing glances at Luke's eyes. Rather, Kohl studied the readings on the biofunction monitor, and then he began to program the nanites on a PADD. "Tell one of the doctors to check on the nanites. Gotta make sure they don't take a left turn and start eating up your stomach lining."
