Mission: Episode 06 - Legend of Souls
Location: USS Galileo: Deck 3 - Sickbay CMO office
Timeline: MD -07 - 1100 hrs

ON:

Allyndra was fairly sure everything was set but she double checked and then closed the door to her office. She walked to the medical lab just on the other side and then used her communicator.

=^=Doctor Mott to the sickbay=^= Allyndra called. She put her best Chief, no nonsense voice on. She then waited for Mott to show up.

=^=On my way=^= Olsam replied, very curious about why he was being summoned back to Sickbay again. He'd already been dispatched to the other side of the deck for some mundane work in one of the science labs, something he thought one of the technicians should have been handling.

It was a relatively short walk from the lab to Sickbay, just as it was a quick walk from Sickbay to his quarters. In fact, he rarely left Deck 3. The quartermaster had been kind enough to give him quarters based on ease of access, as opposed to his last posting. The quartermaster there had a sick sense of humor about health, insisting that Olsam was "out of regulation" in terms of heftiness and forced him into the quarters furthest away from Sickbay.

Olsam was frowning from the memory as he stepped through the doors into Sickbay.

Allyndra had temporarily let the rest of the sickbay crew be more or less on relief for about an hour. She heard the doors open and then stepped to the entrance of the medical lab. "Over here, doctor." Allyndra schooled her face into one of neutrality.

"We need to talk about something with some consequence." She stood aside and waited then closed the medical lab door.

Olsam immediately went shifty-eyed. Was she talking about that Fold Ship? He hadn't told a soul about it. Reluctantly, he stepped into the laboratory and tried to look everywhere but directly at his superior.

"Now then," Allyndra still kept her posture straight, her voice neutral. "It has come to my attention on a matter of some import that I seem to have been kept in the dark about. No..." She held up a slim fingered hand. "Let me finish. You Doctor Olsam Mott seem to have made yourself quite known, otherwise..."

Allyndra suddenly smiled and then took a few steps and hugged the Bolian doctor. "You would have never been made full Lieutenant so quickly. Congratulations!"

"Oh, thank goodness, I thought you were about to kill me," Olsam said, hugging her back. He reached up and tugged at his collar, showing off the new full pip. "Isn't it great? I was so surprised! And Teth got promoted, too, although I think he's a little crankier about it. But he's cranky about everything! So... Um. Do you think we should have some cake to celebrate?"

Olsam eased to the side, looking around her at the replicator in the CMO's office. He was fantastic at coming up with reasons for having cake, but this one seemed more legitimate than many of his other standards: the "Good Morning" cake; the "Pre-Lunch Cake"; the "Post-Lunch Cake"; the "Pre-Dinner Cake"; so on and so forth.

"I think that has already been arranged," Allyndra said and waved Mott back to the office and unlocked it. She already had some cake and other confectionaries laid out.

"Help yourself, unfortunately they are off my list of the acceptable." She waited a moment and then leaned against the door frame while Mott got some goodies.

"Actually there is something cover as well. I wanted to see how you felt about taking Alpha shift?"

Olsam registered a question but was too intently focused on making his celebratory selections. He finally just chose one of everything, piling them all carefully onto his plate before stuffing the top pastry in his mouth. "Huh? Alpha shift? Oh, sure, that's fine. I'm a morning person anyway! Are you sure you don't want some cake? Why can't you have any cake? Are you getting fat?" He eyed her up and down, looking confused. "I can't tell. Are you pregnant? Can Akkadians not eat sugar while pregnant, is that it? Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. Who's the father?"

Allyndra put a hand up to stop him from going on. "Alpha it is, and by the way, one last requirement. You will take a full refresher in Akkadian physiology. I know medical just barely glances at everything. Now for a quick answer though, Akkadians are optional hematophages and thus our systems can not handle very solid foods."

"I see," Olsam said, making a mental note to review the exobiology files on Akkadians. "Well... I could probably use a phaser to liquify that Tarvokian powder cake. I just feel like a glutton when I'm eating alone, that's all. I don't really like doing anything alone. It's so boring! Did you spend the rest of your shoreleave alone? I didn't really see you much before or after our trip..."

"That is alright. Weight is the enemy of flight. As for your last question, pretty much. Now then, the office is of course yours to use during the aforementioned shift. However, my guess is that on this ship, all our shifts are going to be overlapping. Anyway," Allyndra made a curtsey like back on Akkadia. "Congratulations."

"Oh, thank you!" Olsam said, trying to bend at the waist as much as he could to imitate the Akkadian custom. When he finally stood up again, he was breathing heavily. "I really just don't know how you all do that..."
