Mission: Episode 05 - Solstice
Location: Dr. Delainey Carlisle's Office, USS Galileo
Timeline: MD 18 - 1100

ON:

As Delainey regarded Allyndra sitting across from her, it seemed like it had been years since they first talked. So much had happened between then and now, a lot of which that had fallen on the medical staff, so Carlisle was equally happy to have an opportunity to sit down and get reacquainted. "How have you been?"

Allyndra had made an appointment with Carlisle before everyone dispersed. It was two-fold. The first and foremost was to thank her and the second to talk about a little resolution she had come to now safely tucked away in her logs and backed up to be sent to Akkadia in case anything happened to her.

"Very good. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to see me before full shore leave. Also, I wanted to thank you very very much for all your help both with counseling and medical help. It was most invaluable and I made a note of that to the Ca.... The new Commodore though I am sure she will pass that on to the new Captain."

Delainey smiled. "Thank you for showing your appreciation. I was just doing my job, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't like being appreciated. I suppose that's true for everyone. I know the entire medical staff has appreciated your cool and steady leadership as well."

Allyndra made a depreciating gesture. "We all worked together. Anyway, that was my first reason to see you. My second is dealing with what I talked about before. I have had time to think more about Akkadia's past and my own feelings. I have put much of my thoughts into a series of logs which I am going to give you access to."

Delainey nodded, impressed with Allyndra's proactive approach and then she remembered the doctor had also served as a counselor in the past. "Thank you. That should be helpful to both of us."

"I think they will help give you some understanding of both my people and my thinking as well. I still think Akkadia must come out of its self-imposed forgetfulness but I now also realize that too much too soon is not a good idea either." Allyndra gazed absently for a moment and then focused again.

"I think for the first time in a very long time I have finally found peace with the past."

"What do you think has helped you?" Delainey asked, not entirely doubting the other woman's feelings, but wanting to ensure she wasn't just pushing her feelings further down.

"Believe it or not our encounter with the aliens. There was much that reminded me of our own culture. Reclusive but with a certain reason. It got me thinking about our past, and trying to place myself with the reasoning then and now. I think perhaps I was too impulsive in my younger days and now seeing the wider part of galaxy has given me a perspective that is wider. Perhaps the leaders of my society saw further than I did."

Carlisle nodded. "That approach seemed to work for them, didn't it? Then again, there are just as many risks to trusting there is a bigger picture that not all are privy to as there is to challenging authority," she allowed. "It sounds like you've come to appreciate that balance."

"I have, I just hope that the same view still holds, but we shall find out soon enough. Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your help Counselor. I know it is not easy to understand all the nuances of a society."

"It's not easy to reach out to someone who doesn't understand," Delainey echoed. "Thank you for trusting me and for taking the time to explain things. Please know you can come to me anytime."

"I will Doctor. Now I am off, and I hope you too have some time to enjoy our time while the ship is repaired."

Delainey smiled. "As a matter of fact, I'm due to go off on my own adventure. I'll tell you all about it when I return."
