Mission: Episode 04 - Exodus
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 2, Allyndra's quarters
Timeline: MD06 1700

ON:

After the meeting Allyndra headed straight to her quarters. She was tired and her back hurt, her head itched and she was so hungry she started eyeing the other crew. Things were still in short supply so she would have to just make so with something not much different than what she had on the planet. There were way too many injured and then with recovered crew the demands on stores meant supplies of blood would be critical.

She made a brief call to sickbay after arriving at her quarters, indicating that she would be very late coming to her normal shift if she made it all. She just pleaded not feeling well and it was really the truth.

It was hard to tell which called more, the replicator or the bed. Finally she decided that best to get something to eat first and then sleep. The very synthetic mix of protein in sweetener with a touch of dye was just palatable but not very satisfying to the senses. She drank the large mug down and then another before deciding that it was all she could literally stomach and then she stripped and fell into bed.

---
The day was warm even for a High Spring Day but it felt delicious on Allyndra's back and she almost danced in the street with the feeling. For a little time she had forgotten all her troubles, the secrets that she learned and the losses she had endured. In less than a week she would be gone from here, away off to the stars.

She stopped across the street looking at the Irsemia house. She had never been to one and she felt funny about visiting one now. How had she come to this in her life she wondered. A place for maiden wings and widows. She definitely fell into the later now but not so old as many that came here.

Allyndra took a deep breath and crossed the street. No one would care, though she still felt funny coming to such a place. How long had it been since she had someone in her bed as she reached for the door and knew that it had been too long. Once she left this world, it might be even longer and somehow she needed to know she was still, well the polite word would be desirable.

She opened the door and stepped into the darkened structure, her nose assailed by all sorts of pleasant smells and sounds of soft music. She let the door close and stepped further into the ante-room and stopped. Small cubicles lined the ante-room to the left and right and it was obvious even if she had not heard all about such places from her friends who had spent their maiden wing night here that one changed ones street clothing for something more apropos for the bed chamber. Allyndra selected on and quickly changed before she lost her will. The dress, if one could call it that was diaphanous and a blue color that highlighted her eyes and the blue streaks in her hair.

She exited the cubicle and then stepped through the next door and into a larger room. It was decorated very tastefully with all sorts of fabrics and subdued lights but all reflected the general theme of yellow and red, the colours of the Twins but also known as the Lovers. It seemed the place seemed empty. Allyndra thought that it would be during this time of day and more occupied later. She wondered if she had come here too early but her ears picked up muffled voices. Then the a door opened opposite the one she had come in from and two males stepped in also near naked. They were tall, broad shouldered and muscled. One had blonde hair with dull red streaks and the other was like her black haired but instead of blue his hair was shot with an emerald green. Even in the subdued light her eyes picked out the highlights of patterns in the red and green. The one with green reminded her of her husband the patterned highlights were much more subdued and Gerrin's had been. Of course they would have at least a head taller and the broad shoulders and muscles were not her deceased husband's but not untypical of the unfertile males that did much of the heavy labour.

They both stopped as they spotted her and then both bowed nearly simultaneously. The blonde one spoke first, "We would be honoured if you find either of us desirable Irseminia." That word suddenly made Allyndra laugh. "I have long had my first wings and made a matron flight. I am widowed and......."

The two had straightened out of their bows and dark haired one raised an eyebrow as she had trailed off. "I will be going to the stars for a long time. I am All..." She was cut off as the dark haired one made a negative motion with his hand.

"No names here, this is a place to celebrate the Lovers. Widow? I am sorry for your loss," he made a polite bow of the head as did the blonde haired one.
"I take it that you did not spend your maiden wings in a place such as this?"

Allyndra shook her head in the negative. "No, and I did not think I would end up here either but....."

"There is no need to apologize. The gods grant us the pleasure of the body thus should we not enjoy that gift? Come then," the dark haired one made a gesture toward one hanging, "unless you wish to wait for another?"

Allyndra shook her head, the longer she hesitated the more trepidation she would feel. She turned toward the hanging and the blonde haired one walked quickly to pull it aside and reveal a door. She knitted her brows in question.
"Do I choose one of you?"

"You may if you wish, but you said a long time, perhaps then dream of pleasure to last you for awhile?" The dark haired one smiled and the chuckle that came was deep and rumbling.

Allyndra flushed from head to toe but then she nodded in agreement and stepped toward the door.

--

She woke laying in her bed, feeling stickiness on her back. She sat up and looked and saw that her blood marked the sheets and she could feel the tenderness on her back. Her wings had sprouted again.

She got up and gathered the sheets to recycle and then stood with a new drink waiting for the newly unfurled translucent things to fully unfurl and dry before cleaning herself up. That accounted for the memory and her body still tingled from it.

They were headed for Earth, perhaps there would be enough time to go home if she had permission to return. Perhaps the another visit to the Irsemia House for another memory to take back to sustain her would be in order.
