Location: USS Galileo - Deck 4, Sickbay
Timeline: MD 06 - 1640 hrs

ON]

The world was dark. She was alone but crowded. Pushing and shoving took place of the calm emptiness that had been. Her directive was gone. Her hub was gone from her. She couldn't move or follow command. The Borg was lost, much as the Betazoid she once had been was. The sounds around her were filtering in as her mind tried to process the stimuli. It was foreign. It was frustrating. She just need to find her way out.

"...thermal blanket on her legs..."

"...light over here...clamp the optic nerve..."

"...sorry, chief, the baby isn't..."

"...neural activity...quick...DNA scissors now...other implants can wait...neural activity increasing, doctor, paracortex activity at 75%...auditory..."

"Tarishiana, if you can hear me, you're okay. I'm Doctor Basile, I'll take care of you," Giada said as she worked quickly to finish with the prosthetic eye replacing the Borg one.

The patient was reacting faster than most to having the nanites killed by gamma radiation. It had caught Giada off-guard and she was not going to have time to get the rest of the implants out before the patient became aware.

"Chief, is she telekinetic?" Giada asked.

Quinn was standing at Tarishiana's side, holding her hand while the medical team was working. "Yes, Doctor. I've tried talking to her, but it's like a giant wall is blocking me from getting in." Markum knew that anyone would be able to talk to Tarish was he, her Imzadi. Although he was human, their bond was extremely close, unnatural even.

"No, chief, telekinetic. Can she throw things with her mind? Is she going to panic and wreak havoc in Sickbay? I need to know now," Giada said tersely. She held a different device in each hand. In her left was a hypospray with a powerful sedative. It would keep everyone else safe from a rogue psion, but in Tarishiana's state might send her into a spiral of organ failures. In the other was a cortical stimulator that might give her mind the boost it needed to fight through the premature waking.

"Oh. NO." replied Quinn as he rubbed his eyes. "No, you're safe there, Doc. Sorry. Just a little tired I guess. Is she...you can save her, right?"

Giada applied the cortical stimulator and nodded to the nurse. The nurse tapped her console and brought the device online right away.

"Chief, I don't think anyone can stop her, she's coming up so fast," Giada said without looking away from the readouts on the wall. "I just don't know how that's going to go, she's coming too early. She's probably going to be frightened. Nurse, strap her legs and that arm down, then cover them up with the blankets."

Giada looked at the Chief for a moment. "I don't know if she'll come up enough to wake up, but she doesn't need to see those."

"Doctor, paracortex activity is reaching normal, but spiking. Other brain functions are recovering more slowly," the nurse reported.

Quinn watched in both partial terror and wonderment at how well the medical team was handling this. "What can I do?"

"Talk to her, however you can," Giada suggested, without taking her eyes from the monitors. "It really does help."

Tarishiana tried to open her eyes but her body wouldn't follow her commands. Her mind wouldn't or couldn't focus. She heard what she that was Markum but that thought depressed her. That meant that he was lost, set adrift with her and the others trapped in the collective. Something was different. Her hands and feet twitched slightly as her subconscious tried to take back the control it had lost.

"Imzadi." he whispered into her ear. "Wake up Tarish. I came back and got you. You're on the Gali again. We are. You, me, and the baby. Wake up Tarish. I love you."

Tarishiana was coming back. She could feel her body returning to her control. She tried to opened her eyes. The lights around her, were bright. They hurt her head and tears pressed out of the corners. "Mm...Mar..." She tried to speak but it was almost as if the muscle in her throat had forgotten how for a moment.

"Markum, yes." he said as he held onto her hand. "That's me. It's Markum. I'm here."

Giada noted a flashing yellow indicator on the monitoring panel and gestured to one of the nurses. He glanced at it and brought Giada a hypospray. "Tarishiana, you're on the Galileo in Sickbay, and you're going to be fine. I'm going to give you a hypospray to help you wake up," she explained calmly. She pressed the hypospray to Tarishiana's neck and waited to see if the mild stimulant had any effect.

Markum waited, holding his breath and praying that she would get better and respond to the medication.

Markum and the physician waited, hoping that the miracle they were hoping for would happen.
