ON:

Jeremy sighed as he checked his chronomter and shut down the station, checking reports on Ensign Nicholas to make sure there weren't any problems with him. So far reports indicated he was behaving himself. The whining of the past day ceased. Medical reports were as Jeremy expected - his nose hadn't been broken, just bloodied. Though, somehow that didn't quite satisfy.

He checked the bridge station feeds and decided it was quiet enough that he wouldn't be disturbing Rhodes too much nor risking missing any important sensor information.

Still, to be cautious, he set his PADD to twin the feed from the tactical station. He tapped his thigh, calling Sidi to him. Quickly attaching his lead, Jeremy led him out and to the Bridge.

"Rhodes," Jeremy said, entering the Bridge and walking quickly to tactical. "A few minutes," he said, nodding toward the empty back of the bridge.

Rhodes turned his head toward his Chief at his comments and nodded. He made a couple adjustments on the tactical console for a more audible indications if something was pickup by sensors. Standing, he walked to the back of the bridge and faced Lt. Stone.

"Lieutenant," Jeremy said, flicking his wrist to activate the screen of his PADD. "The briefing went well, if only because nobody stormed out this time. But Chief Kiwoski needs to learn we're not holding these meetings in the kiddie park of Galactic Burger for a reason, because we're professionals, not children." he stopped himself from going further with that line of thought.

Rhodes felt concerned that his superior was getting caught up in the moment.

"Mostly the information given out was the same that I've already told you but..."

He sighed as he glanced around. "I'm worried about this. We're tempting fate. Not just with the Borg, but pirates and others that may wish to beat the Federation to this system."

"I'm sure the Captain will use standard protocol . . " Rhodes hesitated, "and we will be ready with a strong response if that becomes necessary."

He rubbed his head and sighed. "I've assigned Mr. Stark to develop and implement training with the gauss/phaser weapons. Chief Kiwoski is still working on the tactical response team. I'd like to have them ready for deployment before we entered into Rojar, but that's not going to be likely. I intend to get updated armor and have equipment issued to the department. Perhaps Lieutenant Aria can take the lead on that?"

Theron nodded, "I think that would be a wise use of her abilities."

"Lieutenant Rice has also been tasked with coordinating evaluations and progress reports of training simulations regarding situations in which we may find ourselves." Jeremy looked at the turbolift door for a moment. "I expect that my officers will show up those non-coms who are constantly complaining about how difficult following rules are. Especially Chief Kiwoski."

Theron breathed slowly and deeply, not wanting to say the wrong thing. The Chief still had issues . . . but this was not the time to go into it. Rhodes simply smiled and replied, "As a reminder Sir, be cautious in your reaction to others, so there is no misinterpretation." He gave the Chief a nod trying to convey that he was supporting him by also reminding and guiding him.

Jeremy frowned as he stared at the wall. "I don't understand what you're saying, Lieutenant. Reaction to what?"

Theron tried to explain without insulting his boss that needed and had asked for input. "I am just encouraging you to consider your expectant outcome of the training simulations. Outwardly those in charge should remain neutral and encouraging to both divisions."

Jeremy scowled as he flicked his wrist to bring up his PADD. "You do not feel more motivated by my expected faith in the abilities of you and Lieutenant Rice to outperform others despite your inferior numbers and equitable abilities?" He stared at the screen, still scowling.

"Not at all." Theron replied. "I am sure that we will, but am just reminding you to not voice your opinion to negatively, that might insult our non commissioned crew."

"That I am not well liked by the non-comms and that I am actively encouraging their loss in this matter is not a motivation to them to prove me wrong and be able to brag of the defeat of my expectations does not equate to motivation for them?" Jeremy asked while still reading from the PADD.

"Y e s." Theron replied slowly. "You are correct in the strictest sense." He realized that he was talking to a plasteel wall and the Chief was not going to change his thought or point of view, and needed to change the subject. "And when will we begin the training simulations?"

"Should begin right away, unless Stark fails in his assigned tasks." Jeremy kept scowling at the revelation that the motivational method was inaccurate and ineffectual - in fact was probably having the opposite effect. This is what happened when he tried to be someone different.

"I understand." the junior officer replied. He knew this line of conversation was not being fruitful. He then asked, "Was there anything else I should know about?"

"No, I think that's about it. Except for the orders to watch for those sensor protocols." Jeremy scowled thinking about the "advice" on motivational procedures he would delete from his PADD after he left the Bridge. "Do you have anything?"

"No Sir." Rhodes replied. "If there is nothing else, I will return to my station now."

"That'll be good," Jeremy said, realizing he was late for another appointment. "Please be sure not to 'show up' the non-comms in the department during training as that would, apparently, be bad."

Rhodes smiled slightly to the comment, nodded, then moved off to his station at Tactical.
