Admiral's Log, Stardate 67551.1

Galileo has emerged from some sort of...vortex. I am not sure if there is a time displacement, but all sensor indications of surrounding star phenomena seem to correlate with Starfleet's most recent astronomical data. Yet I cannot fully understand what has happened to our vessel -- we experienced a malfunction in our secondary sensor array which was followed by a subspace displacement field...and then...

Now we are here. Wherever we are. Where the planet Nimbus once prospered there is nothing but asteroids. There is no habitable world in this system that was once the home of the Planet of Galactic Peace. And even with damaged systems we have not been able to transmit or receive any of Starfleet's subspace comm signals. Or any of the Klingon Empire's, or the Romulan Empire's, or any other signal for that matter. It is almost as if they do not exist, and we are in a barren expanse.

*long pause*

Our starship is heavily damaged and we have deployed repair, mining, and survey teams to help us assess our current situation in more depth and restore functionality. We have taken refuge in the closest and most secure asteroid, but I fear there is something greater occurring. Something I do not understand. I feel as if...we are not where we should be. Everything about our current plight does not feel right. I have not shared my feeling with the captain or crew because I do not want to add more stress to their duties, but...

Something is terribly wrong.

Computer, end log.
