Commodore's Log, Stardate 67524.2

"I have returned from shore leave just in time to help organize Galileo's latest upgrade. We are almost finished installing a new prototype secondary deflector array designed by the Corps of Engineers, and I am eager to put it through its paces once the refit is complete. Of course, will all new technology, there are bound to be a few hiccups along the way, but the majority of the installation is being performed by our crew. They are much more familiar with Galileo than the dock engineers, and I have the utmost confidence they will be able to smooth over any technical glitches we may encounter.

Our next deployment has already been assigned and I have briefed the senior staff. Our orders are to depart SB-84 and proceed to the Chi'Dan system where we will participate with the rest of Task Force 21 in Starfleet's annual NIMBUS military training exercises with the Klingon Defense Force. I have heard of NIMBUS before despite its classified status, but this will be the first time I -- or any of Galileo's crew -- have participated in it before. Fleet strategy was not my strongsuit at the Academy but perhaps that is the point of such exercises. To make us more proficient at areas in which we might be lacking. And no doubt it is also a valuable opportunity to gain updated intelligence on the KDF's combat tactics and capabilities. I would assume they feel the same way about Starfleet.

On a side note, my shore leave was...well, wonderful. Not only are Siren and I now officially wed, but I am also expecting thanks to the skilled doctors at Vajripam's fertility clinic. I have not told anyone about my pregnancy yet but I suppose we should let Nesh know. And maybe John. And Markum. Hopefully they can keep the secret for the next few months until it becomes obvious. Oh. And perhaps our doctors should also be notified so there are no unpleasant surprises at my next checkup. I suppose that is not too many people...only five or so?

Well, before I get distracted further, I must leave now to oversee the final deflector systems integration procedures from the bridge."

Computer, end log.
