I might be in a bad way here.

I spoke to Sandy earlier and - I don't know exactly the nature of what's going but - it seems like Starfleet diplomatic is looking into my conduct following the Cardassian dinner. I don't exactly know it it's the taspar egg or some of my comments -- those are pretty subtle topics and unless someone on the Galileo directly reported I don't know if they would have heard about any of that.

My guess would be that this is related to the Master Chief and my failure to report on the bickering - and really, outright violence - that took place. I still wrestle with what I did. The Captain has to have the room to make decisions that he feels are right but I can't tell if my orders were based on a considered appraisal of the situation or frankly, his just trying to get me out of his hair as quickly as possible.

As of now, my impulse is to give the Captain the benefit of the doubt. If I assume that his orders were for a good reason rather than circling the wagons for a crewman who is decorated but - at least in this case - in the wrong, then taking whatever medicine I have to won't be so bad. Might actually win me some brownie points with the crew.

But if it's the other way... that's frustrating. But -- there's no sense in getting worked up over hypothetical. For now, I'm not going to let my mind wander in that direction. The Captain and the XO have earned the benefit of the doubt.

I just hope I didn't screw up my career before it got started.
