ON:

"Computer open official medical log." Allyndra said in the subdued light of her office in sickbay. This had seemed like a good time to put an end to everything and the sickbay was currently and blessedly empty.

[Medical Log Open]

"Well now that many days have passed it is time to put down some last lines about the last mission and its ending. All the staff are back at work and hopefully functioning.

A few days of highly reduced medical staff seems to have had the desired effect and Doctor Mott placed back on duty. While I did not order my staff to apologize, I certainly indicated that they should and in the future though irritating at times show proper respect. I had talks with each in person where their actions were out of the scope of propriety. I realize that to some such things should be done there and then but I do not believe in saying and thus shaming someone in public. Guild Mother always believed in pointing out the error in private and giving one the benefit of growing. I believe in the same.

I have had private talks with each but especially with Doctor Mott and Doctor Voutilainen. While I can certainly see their anger as I pointed out it did nothing but make things worse and for Voutilainen could be a career ender. As mentioned, I did not ask them to apologize but suggested a that a course of action might help. They are there own people and I will let them make their own decisions. I reminded them of something we all were taught in Academy and that is one has to respect the rank even if not the person it is attached to. Personally I will admit that the Commodore has shown great restraint as has the rest of Command staff that a simple temporary suspension was issued. It could have been worse.

Hopefully in the future cooler heads will prevail amoung the staff for direct challenge to superiors is rarely good. In that regard, I sent each a copy of the most fascinating book by an ancient Earthling Sun Tzu called the Art of War. It was from this book I quoted to the staff remaining in the hallway. Enough of that for now and hopefully it will not be repeated.

I must admit that the Executive's Officer's command about practice emergency triage proved more useful then I had originally thought. It did provide a team building practice and also allowed several to expand skills. Our epidemiologist in one exercise in which he had to be in charge, really shined in organizational skills.

We did run scenarios in which a disruptive personage was involved and it taught me that I must be much more proactive. I will take fault with that in the previous incident in sickbay. I should have immediately had security remove the person and cleared sickbay of all but wounded and personnel.

After Doctor Mott was allowed back to duty, I did allow Doctor Voutilainen back as well after having had her review and research emergency medical techniques. Her review and research which she presented was impressive. I forwarded a copy to the medical and command staff. There are times indicated in the research in which what might be considered archaic practices are indicated. That had lead me to put in a request to Engineering to have force curtains installed all through sickbay and into the laboratory as well so that such procedures can be screened. I can understand why someone who is not familiar with emergency and field medicine can become upset. It would also facilitate containing someone or something that might be biohazardous and thus became a good secondary goal from the request from the Executive Officer.

At this point I consider the incident to be closed. The last thing will be to present this log to Captain Holiday.

Computer file that but continue recording."

[Working, Ready]

The incident closed but for the fact that the disruptive patient in regards to the past mission was a flag officer and the disruption was threat to a medical staff with a deadly weapon. I have looked these past many days on similar incidents and in every case it would seem that I am on solid ground in that such actions have lead to dire consequences.

I do not know the Commodore well enough but for the few interactions I normally find her to be quite steady and thoughtful. The person that Doctor Voutilainen worked on I have found out was someone personally close, in addition to the normal Orion emotional makeup, I can not help but wonder if the manipulation of pheromones may have had side effects.

As I mentioned before, Guild Mother always believed in giving second chances and I learned from her thus while I feel compelled to record the incident in my official medical log I will have this sealed until further notice."

Computer seal last entry Allyndra Gamma Gamma Delta"

[Entry recorded and sealed]
