"Chief Operations Officer's personal log, stardate 66484.8

"Project Sienna is well on its way to being transferred. The scientists are... frustrating. I suppose they have some excuse, their work is being ripped up, like a plant pulled up at the roots. I've noticed that scientists often seem to live in their own little worlds, or maybe they are big worlds. Either way, it's easy for them to forget the real world, even when it poses a threat to them and their beloved research. The Doctors Hardaway are no different. Well, that is the way of things...

"I feel like I should talk to Lil. I haven't really seen her since the holodeck. She's very sweet, and undoubtedly pretty. Not that there's anything between us exactly. After all, she's a warrant officer, though if anyone blurs the lines of command, it's warrant officers. No, it wouldn't be seemly... I shall be quite content with an affectionate friendship, if she shows any interest in a relationship. I do not know if she asked me to dinner because she's interested in me or just 'testing the waters' if you will. Like I said, she's a warrant officer, if she chooses to approach me, all well and good, I cannot initiate such a thing as a senior officer. It may all come to nothing anyways, if she is merely being friendly. But I shall speak with her, it would be inexcusably rude to pretend I cared not a wit about her or our time together.

"As for Doctor White, I'm sure he's a swell chap when he's not in that blue uniform. But I've only ever had the chance to chat with him in a... professional setting and in that counseling office he's absolutely incorrigible. He strikes me as one of those doctors far too smug in their profession, an affliction increasingly common in counselors these days. 'I have a degree in psychology,' they must think, 'you cannot possibly know more about your own mind than I do.' I never could stomach such attitudes. I doubt he knows half as much about me as he'd like to think. But I'll give him a fair shot outside the counseling office. Inside the office though... well, all's fair in love and war.

"We have a new counselor who came aboard to replace Doctor McCarthy, one Lieutenant Junior Grade Delainey Carlisle M.D., Ph.D. Quite a string of titles and positions. She is a woman though, they're easier to handle than the male counselors... flirting with Counselor White would be... odd, to say the least, but perhaps effective... if he persists, perhaps I will try and see if that makes him leave me be.

"I had best return to overseeing Project Sienna's transfer. End log."
