[ON]

Captain Jonathan Holliday reporting.

Our initial mission to the planet surface was less than successful - following what appears to have been a critical mechanical malfunction, one of my crew has been seriously wounded and is currently undergoing treatment in the Galileo sickbay.

My gut feeling is that this was simply a result of poor maintenance, but something niggling at the back of my mind is telling me otherwise - however right now I have no evidence to support either viewpoint. Nevertheless, I will be instructing all further away missions to be additionally cautious upon leaving the ship.

The tribble situation continues to grow in both scope and scale - it seems that I am receiving reports more and more often of infestations across the ship despite the best efforts of our engineering team to isolate and contain this threat. Multiple systems now seem to be under-performing as a result of their presence and I will have no choice but to increase our containment actions accordingly.

In an ideal world I would be returning the ship to the nearest Federation facility for decontamination - but the Cardassians would not be exactly pleased if we happened to suddenly up and leave in the middle of a mission - it is certainly a quandary.

[OFF]
