There's enough tension in the room already.

Well, I'm here.

Not sure any of this is what I was expecting. Not even sure I know what that was though. I'm sure Captain Maraf had something in mind when he tried to get me on this ship - just don't know what.

Well... Maybe I do.

Cardassians.

He knew being on this ship, on this assignment, now would bring me into contact with Cardassians. Selfish, heartless, repugnant, bloody Cardassians.
Maybe he's behind the reason they assigned me to the away team tomorrow. I mean... why else would they assign a cadet on his first day of field assignment to an away mission. I guess I should be excited. My classmates will never believe it.

So why can't I get this thought out of my head? This clawing, knotted, disconcerting sensation out of my stomach? This deep and dark sense of foreboding?

Maybe I should sleep on it... just sleep on it and see how I'm feeling in the morning.

If I can sleep, that is, these bloody tribbles don't half make a racket. What numpty of a CO let them on board - even for a Commodore's sister - I just don't know.

Nesh seems nice, though. She's very... well... she's really... errr...

...

She's nice.

She reminds me of Talara before the slug, but less serious. She's probably what Berant and Rep would call a 'girly girl' - then again if they saw what she wore around quarters there are plenty of things they'd say: noneofwhich bear recording or thinking about.

Maybe I should turn the environmental controls down a little when she's next out. Maybe that would get her to put more on? Certainly can't see myself getting much work done around the quarters while she's around anyway. If it's not playing with the fluffballs, it's humming something or listening to some noise or other, or just a general distraction.

Okay... make that two distractions.

Just... thank the Prophets that my trousers are extremely baggy. There's enough tension in the room already. Don't need to be adding more.

Anyway... away mission. Cardassians.

Ugh...

At least no more of Solomon's curries.
