Captain's Log, Stardate 69405.2

"New orders were just received from Starfleet Command. This new deployment appears to be routine enough on the PADD...a survey-assist requested by an expeditionary research team. The planet, however, could pose significant navigational challenges. According to the database, it's a Class O world - a pelagic planet. My preliminary review of it within Starfleet's database shows evidence of strong plate tectonics and a deep primary ocean. It was once said on Earth during the 21st century that the ocean was even more unforgiving than space; we've since explored the latter but the deepest depths of our worlds? They still remain a mystery.

"Projected ETA to our objective is one week at standard warp. Factor in on-station time and return travel, and Galileo's looking at possibly a month or longer for this deployment. The ship and crew's ready. All repairs and maintenance cycles were just completed and primary stores are replenished. But I wonder...

"The recent wedding between two of my crew may have inadvertently distracted some from their duties. Shore leave was of course necessary to boost morale, but...too much leave can breed complacency and promote a lack of discipline. It's a difficult balance to strike. I welcome interpersonal unions, as any captain should, but only so far as they don't negatively affect this ship's integrity. My hope is that this return to routine will remind us all of our duties and obligations."

"Computer, end log."
