Personal Log 015

First Officer's Log,

I'm currently back home with my parents...something that I have decided to do against my better judgement given the recent complications of our Sienna mission, but with a sense of intrigue for the sudden recovery of my father thanks to the intervention of Lieutenant Coleman that I simply cannot sate aboard ship.

It seems that the medication that Coleman provided has done exactly what she said it would - the old man seems virtually back to his old self. And that's where the problem begins. Once again, in typical Robert Holliday fashion, my father has decided that nothing that happened recently is of consequence, and that this visit's only purpose was so that he could have yet another chance to assault my career choices.

Why is it that no matter how often I try to convince him that being in Starfleet is an honourable and just pursuit, he simply decides that because I went against his wishes, nothing I do will ever be good enough? I'm the executive officer of a starship for god's sake! I just got promoted to Commander! But is that good enough? No of course not.

No matter how long I lie here for, nothing seems to be coming as far as sleep is concerned. Perhaps it's the silence of being back planetside - it feels strange being in bed without the hum of an EPS manifold, or the sound of the warp coils pulsing through the ship to remind me that I'm in space...

Nevermind....a glass of warm milk should help....

computer, end log.
