"Computer, begin personal log.", Rafe commanded. The computer responded and begin recording.
"Lt. Vala, Ensign Valenis, and myself have completed our investigation and, well, I'm frankly not sure that it will help, but maybe so. We have turned over what we found to the Captain and it is up to her.
I would like to say to all of the crew of the Galileo-A, it has been an honor. This has been a wonderful experience for me. I came from a great assignment of being able to fly just about anything I could get my hands on, and it was wonderful. But I can say, I traded up. I went from wonderful things to wonderful people, quality people of integrity! Even though Starfleet has Integrity as one of it's highest ideals, not every Starfleet officer exemplifies it as one of their natural character traits.
This crew does. And it is in large part to both captains, present and past. To you, now Admiral Saalm, I appreciate the legacy and example you left for others to follow. And to you Captain Tarin, I honestly don't know how you make it look so easy. I find myself easily drawn to your leadership style.
Who am I kidding? I find myself drawn to you period. You are a consummate professional with a command presence that you don't have to shove in anyone's face. You bring it with your knowledge and your sound judgement. And that also, is another thing not all leaders have. There are others that make it known, others that feel they have to explain their decisions, and then there are leaders like you, who lead with sound judgement and mentorship, not to mention looking good while doing it.
If we survive this encounter with the Klingons and getting back to our timeline, then I shall delete this personal log. However, if not, let it be known that the crew of the Galileo-A is the best crew I've served with and I would do it again, in a heartbeat!"
