"Computer open Chief Medical Officer's medical log"

[Log is open]

"This log is mostly to just update what we have observed so far with a patient we have rescued. That is if rescuing seems to even be the term for it.

We beamed aboard a patient presenting as male but with odd crystalline protuberances on his body. The patient self identified as Elgy a survivor fo the colony.

Upon initial examination the patient seemed to have some sort of infection or some process going on in which I can only describe as the appearance of a change of the the patient from carbon based to silicon based life form. How or why or even how the patient managed to survive all this is still a complete unknown. Laboratory samples have not yielded enough information to make a determination.

The patient then began complaining of being hungry. Attempts to offer anything were refused as not what was needed. I can only speculate at this point that materially the metabolic nature of the patient had changed enough and instead of material needs that perhaps the patient may be craving radiation or perhaps some other source that we are not at the moment familiar with.

The patient in question has self checked out if that is the proper terminology after breaking though several containment fields, hatches and as of last known report the shuttle bay force field launching himself, itself perhaps? into the void.

Efforts are underway to possibly retrieve the body but I am very leery of attempting to bring the patient back on board especially as we have no idea what happened to convert the patient, the agent, or little else and obviously have no way to contain the patient very well either. I have thought that perhaps the use of hydrofluoric acid might act as an anesthetic but have had no chance to test it and again reluctant to try to do so without better systems to contain the patient in case something goes wrong.

As for now I am going to suggest that we agree with the patient and terminate any further tries at treatment.

End entry into medical log.
