ON:

"I have to say, I'm impressed."

Scarlet Blake was as 'comfortable' as she got in a chair when recording a log...or doing anything work related for that matter. Her back remained straight in military style and her legs neatly crossed. It had been a long day and Lily was finally in bed. Finally. After being persuaded that a so called 'bug man' wasn't in her wardrobe.

"The crew went through months of the same old basic routine, nothing to break it up, nowhere to escape to, nothing to spark the senses. Of course, we had some problems," she sighed softly, rubbing the bridge of her nose with a fingertip as her thoughts turned to the isolated incidents that she'd been highly unimpressed with, despite her opening statement. At least they truly had been isolated though...and she'd certainly be talking with Luke to ensure they remained so.

"But on the whole? The majority of the crew did well in the circumstances," she nodded slowly as she thought on it. It might have seemed easy in theory to some people. A few months 'kicking back' and 'doing nothing'. But in truth, for driven and ambitious people, as most Starfleet personnel were, doing the same, arguably dull, routine day after day without so much as a nebula to break it up was not conducive to a healthy and happy crew. She was impressed they hadn't let it drive them mad...so to speak.

"My main concern was that it would dull the senses to the point it would be difficult to snap back to action if and when required. They have shown me I needn't have worried," a small smile came to her at that, as she looked intently at the screen that recorded her.

"I know Lirha put a lot of hard work into picking the right crew members. She made the application and interview process rather...challenging," she shook her head with a slight chuckle as she remembered the slew of 'rejected' applications that had been designed to make people really think about what they wanted and show the grit and determination to fight for it. "I can say quite safely, and with a good deal of satisfaction, that it was a qualified success."

Scarlet leant forward carefully to take her cup, sipping the still hot tea with appreciation; she'd noticed how rare it was these days to actually drink a cup of tea while it was still hot. 'These days', on reflection, being over the past few years.

"Evidence of Tholian involvement in our silent ship and colony mystery is still lacking, thankfully. But it doesn't mean that there isn't some kind of other hostile or threat involved. If that's the case, we need everyone on the top of their game to combat something on that scale."

Blake shook her head with a frown, not allowing her thoughts to go any further down that line, setting the cup firmly down. She'd already gone through a hundred scenarios and the possible actions and reactions they could provoke....along with plan a-z, with a further plan a-z for each subset of new challenges each could throw up. "If nothing else, it makes me grateful that Lirha made sure we got the best possible crew together. Call me a cynic, but I have the feeling we're going to need it."
