Captain's Log, Stardate 68913.6

We have received new tasking, priority orders from Starfleet to proceed to the Latari system immediately. All contact with both colonies in the star system have been lost. As is - it seems - the search and rescue vessel originally sent to investigate. This...news, takes us off-course by almost six months, and it's certain we won't reach our original destination at Regula One for many more months now.

The crew's been briefed but I'm uncertain how well they have taken to this new order. Many of us, including myself, were anticipating our arrival at the station for some R&R. Even for however brief a time. But now, we are remaining on standby alert with many questions still lingering and waiting for the next long-range comms update from Command.

We know little about the situation in the Latari system, and even the intelligence packages we've received have given us limited insight into our mission. Without knowing what we will be facing, it's hard to predict how we will respond...and therefore how we can prepare. I'm confident in my officers and enlisted, but my intuition gives me pause. I hope it will be proven wrong.

Computer, end log
