Okay, so my shower broke and Chief Kala Gorvel came to repair it. Is this a good place to mention that she's incredibly attractive? Or that I was so frazzled by the malfunctioning sonics in my shower that I didn't bother to get dressed until she'd already been there for a while? I'm middle aged and there I was, shamelessly staring at her backside, wearing only a towel! Fortunately I eventually came to my senses and realized what the situation would look like in an official document reporting me for Hostile Environment Sexual Harassment and put some clothes on...heh...though I made sure to cover just enough for modesty's sake. After all, I saw the way she looked at me. Ahem...anyway. The sonics caused the mirror in the head to shatter and Kala got cut up. I patched her up and convinced her to stay for a cup of hot chocolate and let her clean herself up and change into a dry uniform. I introduced her to Fin, which usually ups my game, but in this case it almost backfired on me. I mentioned that my daughter Laeila had given me Fin, and suddenly Kala is pulling away and asking if I had a wife somewhere, possibly even on the ship with me! Man, I cracked up! The idea of Sarina following me around like some camp follower or even waiting at home for me is hilarious if you know us. That was the reason we divorced almost three decades ago! Sarina and I get along because we have kids together and because we’re adult enough to be friends of a sort, but if the Great Bird of the Galaxy himself told me that he wanted to Sarina and I to get remarried and live together, I’d tell him to blow it out his elbow! Which is basically what I told Kala. That seemed to do the trick, because she wants to get together with me when we’re both off-duty and see what develops.

In other areas of my life, being on the bridge is going to take a little getting used to. Thankfully, most of my time will be spent elsewhere, dealing with crew management. I needed help disengaging the umbilicals. Hell, the only ‘umbilical’ I really know how to ‘disengage’ is the one running from a mother’s womb to her child, and even that’s not a procedure I perform regularly!

Well, I think I’ll take Fin for a walk through the ship and let him smell some new people. Hopefully I’ll have more fun stuff to talk about in my next log!
