"The Schofield is inbound on impluse and about to dock. It is time to make one final entry before the ship is decommissioned and the crew dismissed to other duties.

First off, the crew did admirably and I have seen the reports from Daystrom and the the Fleet that expressed the surprise about the civilization and more so the machine that is keeping the star stable. I am going to read an excerpt here for the record: 'There has been no doubt that getting the machine running again has saved literally billions of lives and given an unparalleled opportunity to study a very advanced piece of technology that otherwise would have been lost. This combined with the the minimal interference of the culture should be put into every curriculum on how to handle such a situation...'

I could not agree more. Fleet and the Institute will be coordinating efforts to both study the technology and bring in experts at first contact. While I only briefly met Doctor Lensher, it appears that he will be having a much more major role in the future other than being a simple doctor.

Well the old ship is going to go to mothballs. Probably forever or maybe for a bit before scrapped but she has done her job. I know ascribing feelings to a piece of machinery seems odd but perhaps we biologicals imprint a bit of ourselves on them. None the less, it may seem odd, but Schofield, thank you, you were a good ship and I will miss you a bit.

And with that, I close this final Executive Officer's log for this fine ship."
