Captain's Log, Stardate 68476.2

Tuesday. That's the latest update from Starfleet Command on Galileo's final departure date. It could be next Tuesday, or two Tuesdays from now... I am uncertain. But the vessel's temporary crew is still out in the solar system conducting test flights and checking for any final design flaws. I suppose it's always prudent to put a vessel through its paces before the official commissioning but it feel tiring, especially in these final days.

USS Schofield is still on assignment but scheduled to return to the shipyards soon. I feel a sense of regret at not being with the crew, which includes many of my new and returning officers and crewmen. I've been away from fleet life for so long that I'm now anxious to return to some semblance of duty outside of this office. Filing personnel and equipment reports every day is tedious. And lonesome.

I was supposed to visit Vajripam yesterday but there were some last-minute issues to address here at the station. Something to do with ordinance deliveries being misallocated to several starships. Today I will try again, if only for one night, to return to my homeworld and get out of this uniform.

Computer, end log
