OLD:

“You no pay, we no give.” Hikay said then turned away from Kargek and addressed the crowd. “These Klingons want the Dilithium we mine but will not pay for it, so I am refusing to….” The remaining words never left his mouth as the Bat’leth of the lead Klingon slammed into his back, blood fountained from the huge wound in Hikays back and he slumped to the floor. The two enforcers drew their stun rods and lept at the Klingon but had barely moved when they were repeatedly shot by the other Klingons, all five Klingons then opened fire on the crowd with their disruptors.

NEW:

Mimi and Tali ducked behind one of the buildings as bolts of disruptor fire scythed into the bodies of her friends and family all around them as they scattered in all directions, she watched as the lead Klingon spoke into a small box in his hand and disappeared in the same shimmering red light he had arrived in, the remaining Klingons broke into pairs and started forward into the colony firing on anything and everything as they went, a few seconds later she watched in horror as fire rained down from the sky into the colony blowing up several of the buildings and making huge craters in the ground. “Father.” she called out as she saw her father Timor narrowly miss getting hit as he ran towards his daughters.

“Mimi, Tali go inside and get your things then get everyone you can to the hangar and get them on the Rayya and Zorah.” Timor said then paused for a moment as a siren sounded repeatedly, someone had activated the distress system. “I will find Naria and meet you at the hangar. Go now.” He ducked as a blast sent chunks of soil flying around him.

Running back to her family home Mimi grabbed her bag and started to pack things, the sounds of explosions outside the house never ending as she hurriedly packed some food and water, she made sure her music and pictures were inside too, if things were going how she thought they were they would have to abandon the colony and she didn’t want to leave everything behind. She had just finished packing when she heard a thud and looked back towards the entrance, one of the Klingons had booted the door in and began to search the house. “Tali, run.” she shouted then ran herself heading for the back door of the house, a shot from the Klingons disruptor hitting the wall where her head had been just a moment before.

Back outside Mimi started running towards the hangar, looking back she saw Tali escape the house and start to catch up with her. Every Nekomi they passed Mimi shouted at them to go to the hangar and soon a small group was right behind them, as the group ran around a corner they ran into another group including Timor and Naria. Mimi and Tali both hugged their mother then everyone continued running towards the hangar.

As they ran several of the buildings around them exploded as more fire rained down from the sky, debris pelted the group and Mimi was knocked over when a piece clipped her head, she managed to get to her feet in time to see her family make it into the hangar. A little unsteady on her feet Mimi ran to catch up when another barrage of fire landed all around her, the blast sent her flying through the air and she landed hard on the ground and passed out.

Around 10 minutes later Mimi groggily awoke, she found herself partially under the body of another Nekomi, she started to scream both from the pain that flooded her body now she was conscious again and from the horror when she saw the body above her was missing half its face, clamping her hands around her mouth she stifled the scream in case any of the Klingons were around to hear her. Forcing the body off her she slowly got to her feet and tried to get her bearings, her head hurt really bad and patches of skin on her back were cut and bruised, her bag lay a few meters away and she scrambled to pick it up.

She looked towards the hangar and saw that the once most important building on the colony was now in ruins just like almost all of the others, slowly she made her way towards it clambering over debris from the chaos around her constantly stopping and listening for any signs of the Klingons or other Nekomi. “Mother? Father? Tali?” She called out as she entered the ruined hangar.

The hangar was a mess with debris everywhere and most of the roof and walls collapsed, she gasped when she saw the wreck of the Zorah; the once gleaming hull of the cargo ship had been torn apart and there were tens of bodies around it, there was no sign of its sister ship the Rayya though. Mimi’s ears twitched as she heard the creaking and groaning of the remaining metal framework of the hangar, she continued to search around the hangar picking up a few things that might come in handy.

Just as she stood up from picking up a bottle of water that had somehow survived the explosion Mimi heard the sound of wrenching metal as the whole hangar superstructure began to collapse, with the natural dexterity of all Nekomi she managed to avoid almost all of the debris until one piece clipped her shoulder and tail, putting her off balance and when another landed on her leg it sent her to the floor, rolling onto her back just in time to see a huge piece coming straight down on top of her she scrambled to get back up but the pain in her leg slowed her just long enough that she couldn’t avoid it and with a thud it hit her knocking her back down to the floor unconscious.
