"Computer open personal log"

[Tales of Akkadia?]

"No regular personal log"

[Log is open]

"Well here it is the ship openings and we are expected to reassign again.

USS Valley Forge NCC-43305; DP 16 mo; SB-234
USS T'Kumbra NCC-62100; DP 6 mo; SB-67
USS Geronimo NCC-69302; DP 24 mo; DS-2
USS Saratoga NCC-31911-A; DP 12 mo; DS-9
USS Galileo NCC-80010-A; DP 32 mo; REG-1
USS Voyager NCC-74656; DP 28 mo; SB-241

Well that was the posting list that had come in to my quarters now back on Earth. I have only three more medical ethic classes to go and in time for redeployment elsewhere.

The Forge only requires a assistant CMO and I was not sure I am ready to step into a lower position and even if I had applied I would have outranked the CMO so most likely that would have been a no go.

The T'Kumbra is only a six month voyage which after being home would be way to short and having to look again or possibly see what that ship had next.

Geronimo had flat turned me down. Seemed as if that mark on her record had gotten me in trouble. The same situation with the Saratoga, just a quick refusal.

That left the Galileo which was going to be long voyage. A near three year stint was definitely a long one and the ship name brings back memories of the old ship. This one was interesting though and I suspect not too many might sign up for a long long voyage. Also, I cannot help but wonder how many old shipmates might apply for that ship though she ended on an ill fate? At least my application has not been kicked back outright. That has been the good news right? Almost three years and that might present problems though. Hopefully there would be shore leave in some of that so I can catch up with her duties back home.

That leaves the Voyager, also a fairly long cruise at over two years. I must admit I have an affinity for the smaller ships and that one looked very interesting as well. It also has a very storied name to it. So far that ship application has not come back rejected either. I suspect the long voyages are not real popular.

So far only two possible ship listings and not sure if any of them....wait, I just got a message here. Pause log please."

[Log is paused]

"Computer open log again."

{Log is open and resumed]

"To Commander Allyndra illm Warraquim, Doctor of Medicine. Your application to serve as the Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Galileo has been accepted. If you wish to accept this posting please reply back with due haste.

Well it seems as if my old posting on the new Galileo has been accepted. What is it the Terrans say? Something about catching a bird with the hand and not in the bush? Not sure that is exactly right but it means something like take what is given rather then hope for something else.

***typing***

"There I have formally accepted the position and told the Voyager that I have taken a new position on the Galileo.

That reminds me. I have no idea what the new ship is like or even its class? Well surprises are in store then. Computer close log and order me up whiskey, Irish, neat. Tine to celebrate getting back out to the stars, away from bored students in class and maybe a chance to salvage a bit of my honour."

[Log is closed. Irish whiskey neat is available on the replicator pad]
