I have had quite an experience today. Commander Warraquim, in addition to asking me to pilot one of the Runabouts on her small adventure, she also gave me the most amazing opportunity to be up close and personal with one of the Akkadian . . um, Skyships. Yes, that's what they called them. And that 'is' exactly what they are.

I was first introduced to the ship's Captain, Alekelia. She is a wondrous and stunning woman. She had great understanding and knowledge of how her vessel operated so gracefully. Even her grace was stimulating when she walked the planks of the ship. I think we actually developed a bit of chemistry on that adventure. But, it was not to last, each in our very different worlds. The kiss, . . that I will never forget.

But I should speak more about the O'hau. I don't believe there are enough words in my thesaurus to describe such a wondrous vessel. The airship, excuse me, 'Skyship' sailed lighter than air, using its many sails to speed and guide it along the heavens. It's handling was like a ballet among the clouds. It was majestic, awe inspiring, and ornate in so many ways. I would guess that some cultures within the Federation might consider it unseemly flamboyant or ostentatious, possibly even vulgar. So, I would say that I will never want it revealed to their eyes, for that reason alone.

The vessel was built of wood to be light. The only metal I was was in the gold leaf paint that brought out the embellished carvings in the wood. A large bladder, filled with a lighter-than-air gas, provided lift. The great masts held the main sails, with a dozen or more smaller pillars and supports held sheets of the strongest silk I have ever witnessed, especially used in this way. As I mentioned, the smaller sails, they allowed for agile maneuverability. It was like a giant angelfish in the air effortlessly swimming among the clouds.

I was allowed the privilege of steering the skyship for a short time. Holding the yoke of the vessel in my hands was a reverent and exhilarating experience. I've never felt so in-touch with a moving object more than this. My Andorian senses brought so much to the overall feeling. It was like I 'was' the ship for a time.

Alekelia later took me to an island where they had some cargo to transfer. While there we walked through an outdoor marketplace. My Commander and benefactor had been kind enough to provide some local currency. She wished me to purchase something for myself while I was there. Alekelia introduced me to Trellium Silk. The silk is fascinating. I've never seen anything like it in the many worlds I've traveled. She said it is made from silk of Trellium spiders. It is very rare. There was something about a 12 year cycle, so it's not available all of the time. The silk threads catch the light and self refract it, such that it makes rainbows as the material moves.

I decided to select one for my Mother, and chose one that was . . well, it's coloring was a striking contrast of blues with several shades from dark to a streak of white. There was also just a hint of purple mixed in, but it could only be seen at certain times when the light was on it correctly.

Upon our return to the O'hau, Alekelia and I were up on deck. She wanted me to experience Ring Rise. The planetary ring rose up across the horizon like a silver blade. It even seemed to glow for a moment. I was truly awestruck by the beauty of the giant silver ring that stretched from extreme to extreme. In a way it was like this silken scarf. As it rose, it grew in depth and manifested colors beyond imagination. I even compared it to the color of the Listeeian Sea back home on Andoria. But truly, there is no comparison.

I will always cherish the experiences of this day. Piloting the O'hau and getting to know Alekelia will be hard to forget. I now wonder if I should give this scarf to my Mother, or be selfish and keep it for myself. Well, I will be away from Andoria for a while longer. I still have time to decide.
