Love is a funny emotion. As amazing as it feels it brings with it many unwanted and undesirable feelings.

Eelim took his case to be the proof. Here we was caged like an animal on a Klingon ship speeding to Gods knew where. As a Cardassian he should show no fear. As a Starfleet officer, he should show no fear and accept that this is what was happening. As a man, a lover, a friend he was afraid and feeling a deep despair brought on by a feeling of helplessness.

All this brought on by the sprite in his arms. The woman who had the power to bring him to his knees. He looked over at her. He felt as if he were a failure. He had failed to protect her from getting hurt during the ship’s boarding. He’d failed to keep her from getting hurt here.

He’d failed to protect the woman he loves and to him that was unthinkable and unforgivable. He could never forgive himself for what he’d allow to happen to her; her beautiful wings were injured.

He would care for her now, keep her safe but he wasn’t sure that he deserved to be in her presence after all this was over.

The stubborn man that he was he had already decided that for her own safety when this was over maybe he should stay away from her. He didn’t know if she’d felt disappointment in him but he felt it in himself.

The worst sin of all was that he couldn’t get her out now. He’d give his life for her but it would do no good. Not when she was in the hands of these Klingon dogs.

Rahl was fighting with them, challenging them. His sister worked for them so he knew what they were like. She'd joined the Klingon empire securing a command of her own through Klingon ceremony and rite.

Eelim shook his head. He'd been about to say something when he saw Eviess jump in and then get shoved away. That did it! That was the straw that broke the camel's back. He rushed the Klingon that had hurt her after all who knew...the pig could go after Allyndra next.
