Recurring requests in subplots

Posted on 21 Oct 2014 @ 8:38am by Captain Jonathan Holliday

Morning everyone,

I just wanted to write a short message as I have been asked a similar sort of thing by a few people now, and I just thought it easier to tell everyone in one go.

Access to Earth during this mission is pretty much not possible - the reason for this is that if you look on a map, the distance from Starbase 84 to Earth (and indeed the other "core" Federation systems) is only a little shorter than the distance from the Lyshan system to Starbase 84.

As we established that it takes the Galileo a month to make the crossing from Lyshan to SB84, even at high warp it is going to take a Runabout or a Shuttle etc around the 3 week mark to make it back to Earth - with the length of time allocated for Shore Leave, it simply wouldn't be possible to get to Earth, do anything, and get back to the ship in time.

This essentially means for the sake of this mission, all subplots will be restricted to either the Starbase, or systems that can be reached and returned from within the time frame - examples including Suliban, Orion, Regulus, Coridian, or Risa at the extreme edge of range. Please bear in mind that these "outer" worlds are still around a fortnight away at warp so if you go there, don't plan a 10 day subplot because again, you would be late coming back....

Anyway I hope this clears everything up a little for people planning subplots - any questions you know where I am!

Tom
