Cyrus typed in the code to Pola's room and was able to find the couch. His hand throbbed and his head was swimming. Probably due to the complete exhaustion of his body and the lack of adrenaline that had been coursing through him in the first place. The couch seemed like bliss to his back as he eased himself carefully onto the cushions.

As tired and foggy as he was, he knew that he wasn't going to sleep. Anger roiled still deep in his gut from the days events. He knew it would take quite a bit in order to calm him down from it.

Rushing through the corridor, Pola knew that she had rushed the cleanup in sickbay but her key concern was Cyrus right now. She should never have let him leave on his own. What if he had fallen, and banged his head again. He could be lying unconscious in a corridor, going unnoticed.

Pola picked up her pace as she practically ran to her quarters, worry forefront in her mind as she thought through every possible senerio where something had gone wrong and it would be her fault for giving him too much of the pain killer and then leaving him on his own.

Skidding to a halt outside of her quarters, the darkness which greeting her, making her think the worse really had happened. Stepping inside the door, she used the light shining through the windows, scared to speak his name as she searched every corner, trying to find an outline which would show he really was ok.

As her eyes alite on the outline of a body on the couch, the steady raise and fall of his chest showed him that at least he was still alive. Moving across to the couch, Pola moved to kneel on the floor before brushing her hand across Cyrus' knee. "Cyrus?"

"Oh, I'm awake...Just didn't realize how exhausted my body was." He reached up to clasp her hand. "I'm groggy, but I'm not completely out of it...at least not yet. I think your meds are working a little too well. " He chuckled and shifted over to give Pola some room. "The sleeping meds in my system, plus the lack of adrenaline...I don't know..but my my, you gave me some good stuff."

Choosing instead to stay on the floor, Pola moved her hand to stroke Cyrus' thigh as relief flooded through her body. Finally managing a weak smile, she kept her eyes on level with his. "I'm sorry...your reaction to the meds shouldn't be this intense. I promise I'll look after you until your better though."

"And I am totally okay with my irish doctor taking care of me." He sighed. "I can't believe I let that guy get to me, and I feel even worse for showing that side of me to you." He let his head slide back to rest on the top of the couch. "I almost hit him Pola...If I had hit him like I had hit that tree." He shuddered to think of the damage he would have done to the man's face.

As she watched him, Pola finally moved herself up to sit beside Cyrus, moving her hand to brush it against his hair. "But you didn't mo mhuireann....You were able to control yourself and take it out against an innate object. That alone shows you're a good person and a good officer."

He couldn't help but shake his head. "Not everyone will see it that way though, maybe Stone is right...maybe I don't belong in Security, maybe I was only supposed to be a Marine. " He looked at his hand and closed it slowly. "It seems that's all I'm good at."

Keeping her hand moving in a gentle caress against Cyrus' hair, Pola said nothing for a few moments, allowing him to gather his thoughts as she herself tried to gather her own. Moving her hand, she pressed her fingers against his cheek as she forced his head to turn, allowing her eyes to settle on his. "You don't need me to tell you hat those words are a lie. You're one of so few who can adapt himself to any situation in which he needs to fit, including being a security officer."

It was so touching that it brought a single tear to Kiwosks' eye. He tried reached up with his damaged hand, touching hers gingerly. "Thank you. " Was all he was able to whisper.

Smiling so softly as she heard his whisper, Pola moved her thumb under Cyrus' eye to capture the tear before it could fall. "Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise Cyrus. You're a better man than anyone who would deem it necessary to make you feel otherwise." Unable to resist it, she leaned in to press her lips to his in a gentle brush of their lips, keeping the kiss soft as she tried to repair the damage which lay under the surface.

He kissed her back, a slight smile on his face. "What would I do without you no?" He asked a slight chuckle escaping him. He head was less foggy than it was before, he had decided it had been the lack of sleep he had been getting that caused the adverse reactions to the medication. "I'm surprised you weren't upset, I'm sorry I was so curt with you earlier." He sighed. "You really have done so much to me, but I haven't exactly been good to you, always making you patch me up. "

Entwining the fingers of their hands, Pola blushed ever so slightly as she glanced down at them. "Who said I wasn't upset? You scared me senseless when I realised how much pain you were truly in. I guess the whole distancing oneself from a patient comes in handy. And hey...that's partly what I'm here for, patching people up. I'd assume if ever I was in trouble I could depend on you being here for me."

"You don't need to worry, even if I wasn't able to help you right away, I'd find some way to get there. " He blinked, and smiled. His mind ached, but it refused to shut down and let him sleep, thought the medications were wearing off. "My hand is really starting to hurt...the medications are running out I think and you really should get your rest. You've been really tired the last few days. I hope everything has been alright."

Looking down, Pola moved the fingers of her free hand across the back if Cyrus' injured hand. Biting her lip, she resisted the urge to insist on more medication, knowing it was too soon and would knock him out. "I'm fine...Ill be fine. My body is still trying to catch up with everything that happened. Days of no sleep and treating wounded take their toll eventually."

"Still, even a Doctor needs to rest." He smiled worriedly. "You've been doing good for someone on little food and sleep." he brushed his good hand through her hair. "I should probably get going...I don't want to keep you up any longer. You need the rest more than I do, and I don't have anything to do tomorrow." He couldn't help but laugh bitterly.

Leaning her head into his caress, Pola smiled ever so slightly as she listened to him. "Well given how you seem to have managed to self appoint yourself my Doctor, I can find you some one handed work in sickbay to help with if it bothers you so much."

He chuckled and shook his head. "That would just be unproductive Doctor...considering I can't keep my hands off you already. " He meant it honestly and he knew that he wouldn't be able to get any work done and would even hinder Pola's ability to work, and her job was much more important compared to his own.

Closing her eyes, Pola relished the feel of Cyrus' touch. "You could stay here." The words were out before she even thought of what she was saying. Suddenly speechless, she tried to dig herself out of the hole she found herself in. "I..I..I mean you...me..eh..." Squeezing her eyes tighter shut, she figured it might be best to say nothing more.

He smiled, but couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Well, that was forward." He chuckled slightly. "As long as you're going to take care of me, I might as well, now shouldn't I? " He moved forward and kissed her passionately. "That is...if you would like me to?" It was asked as a question, but he said it with a confidence of someone who knew what the answer would be. The fog was clear, and though his hand throbbed uncontrollably, he put into the back of his mind as he gazed lovingly into Pola's eyes.

Pola hadn't meant to be forward, she'd meant to suggest he'd take her bed and she the couch or something. Not that she didn't want to be with Cyrus but she knew he was in pain and she wanted to keep him near incase he needed her. Her breathing still hard from the kiss, what she read in his eyes surprised her. "Cyrus..." The word seemed strangled before she forceable cleared her throat. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be so forward. If you stay here I can keep an eye on you. Take care of you."

Realizing he had misread her, he stumbled over his words. "Yeah, of course, I was just...the medication you know..." He chuckled nervously. "It's really alright Pola. I'll be fine, it's just a broken hand." He gave her another quick kiss and smiled reassuringly. "Still not thinking all that clear."

Realising how crossed their wires were getting, Pola leaned her forehead in against Cryus' as she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "No...stay." Opening her eyes, she looked into his brown depths as she lost herself in the almost hazel like depths. "Nothing needs to happen, your in pain and hurting. Just..." Pola couldn't figure out why she kept stumbling over her words, she was a Doctor for crying out loud. "...just you know."

"What? I know what?" He asked, clearly confused. "you can tell me you know, love."

"Stay with me tonight because I need that reassurance of you just being there." As the blush on her face grew stronger, she closed her eyes as she struggled to get the words out. "I'd like it if you just slept beside me, woke beside me."

Cyrus paused for a second, then smiled. "Done." It was all he said, it was all he was going to say. He took her hand and guided her to the bed.

Letting Cyrus lead her, Pola was still a little shellshocked that he'd agreed to easily. Watching the back of him as he took the lead so easily, she realised something with a bang which she pushed away, determined to deal with it some other time.

They entered the bed and he wrapped the covers around her and him, as he curled up beside her. "Good night." He whispered, giving her a quick kiss, wrapping his arms around her.

Easily settling back in against Cyrus' body, realising how natural it felt. Moving to wrap her own arms over his, still she was concious of his damaged hand, stroking her thumb featherlight across the skin as she realised there was nowhere else in the world where she wanted to be right now. "Sweet dreams mo chroi."
