Location: Avondale Shipyards - USS Galileo-A, Captain's Quarters
Timeline: MD 101, 1500 hours

[ON]

15:00 hours

After leaving the interview and calling both Commander Nara and Charlotte, Amaranai felt the need to check out the Galileo-A. She made her way to the docking port and scanned her ID card for the security guard to ensure that she was allowed on board.

Her first stop was to what would be her own quarters to drop off her things. She had had them stored with security when she arrived for her interview expecting to take them to the Saratoga, but she retrieved them and brought them here.

Amaranai knew that her sister would end up being her roommate (she hoped) and therefore didn't bother taking anything out of her bags. She had a feeling that she might have to change to a bigger room simply for the fact that she was going to have her sister living with her.

When she was finished in her current quarters, Amaranai chose to check out the security office and see if anything was really different despite it being a new ship. Fortunately, most everything was the same and it gave Amaranai a pang of sadness. Not for her previous ship, but for the fact that she was not going to be chief.

Checking the chrono, Amaranai decided that she would rest for a while and then freshen up before heading to Lirha's quarters for dinner.

22:00 hours

Approaching the door, Amaranai took a deep breath. Lirha had mentioned talking about the rank promotion but for some reason, after having thought about it earlier, she just wanted to be with Lirha without talking about Starfleet and everything that was involved with their new mission, the new ship or anything else. She just wanted to be with her girlfriend and not have to argue or resent anything that could be said.

She pressed the chime on the side of the door and waited for Lirha to respond. While waiting, she smoothed the lines of her long, purple dress - she was mad that it got slightly wrinkled, but hadn't cared enough to get it pressed before dinner.

The entrance to the captain's quarters swished open not long after Franklin announced her arrival through the chirp of the door chime. On the other side of the door stood Lirha who smiled warmly at her guest and took in her appearance. She looked beautiful, Saalm thought. "You made it," she said, happy that Amaranai had managed to find her way on board.

Amaranai smiled at the woman and entered properly. She wrapped her arms around the green-toned woman and hugged her.

"Of course I made it," she said. "I needed to make it."

The door closed behind her and Amaranai simply held her lover for several moments in silence. The security officer didn't want to think about their discussion / argument any longer and just wanted to consider their time together. Amaranai didn't know how much time they would get once they were deployed but for now, they were together.

"I could stay like this forever," she said and then paused. "I hope I get to."

Lirha happily returned the embrace and let her arms settle around Amaranai's slim waist. She'd dearly missed her friend and could now feel a healthy dose of excitement at the prospect of spending the next few years with her. The pains of her incarceration -- and their separation -- seemed to fade away the longer she thought about what the future might finally hold for the two of them. "You will," Saalm promised with an affectionate gaze into Amaranai's eyes. "We have a long trip ahead and you can spend every night with me."

Amaranai enjoyed being held by Lirha and as the other woman held her. She had missed Lirha's touch, her scent, her everything and having it back now just felt right. The lieutenant listened as her captain spoke of having a long trip ahead and being able to spend every night together. It made her consider Charlotte. The girl had been without family for three years and now, just when Charlotte would need her, it seemed as if Amaranai would abandon her once again. But Amaranai didn't bring that up just yet. For now, she just wanted to be held.

"I'm glad," she whispered.

Lirha smiled with satisfaction then leaned in and gave Amaranai a quick kiss on her lips. "Come. Want to see my quarters?" she invited as she broke the embrace and took Franklin by the hand to show her around the mid-sized room.

Like most Starfleet vessels, the interior of the senior officer bunk was split into three connecting rooms; a sleeping area, a living room, and small dining area, each with a small doorway between which could be used for privacy. At the far end of the corridor past the bedroom was the lavatory which contained a small bathtub, sonic shower, and sink. Grey Starfleet-issue crates were piled up in various corners of the different rooms, each with their own labeling and markings designed to keep her unpacked belongings at least somewhat organized -- but it was evident that Lirha hadn't spent much unpacking yet. The dull metallic gray walls were devoid of decoration and the only bright colors in the rooms came from her pearl-tinted countertops and light gray carpeting. "I think it feels a little smaller than my old quarters," she playfully fussed.

Amaranai followed Lirha around the quarters. There wasn't much in decoration and Amaranai could see the boxes and knew that eventually Lirha would begin the process of making the quarters more like a home. Of course, Amaranai could offer to help. After all, since she would be there on many occasions, she would have the opportunity.

"Quarters are only as good as the person in them," she offered. "Or people," she added as she squeezed her hand.

"Then we'll have to make it our new home, won't we?" Lirha concurred. "I should change out of this uniform," she then added, wanting to put on something more casual and attractive for Amaranai. "And I know I promised you dinner but I think it might have to be replicated tonight. All of my food stores are still being loaded into the cargo bay. I hope you don't mind?"

Amaranai moved closer to Lirha and grinned.

"You can just take the uniform off," she started. "No need to put anything back on."

When Lirha continued talking about dinner, Amaranai shook her head.

"It's not a big deal," she said. "Just being with you is enough. Everything else is just extra."

It'd been so long since Lirha had last spent any reasonable semblance of time with Amaranai that she could now instantly relate to how her partner was feeling. Her sudden release from the penal colony, her assignment to command Galileo-A, the secrecy of their new mission and the intelligence briefs she'd recently given... The experiences she'd been subjected to had hardened her in many ways, but she now wanted nothing more than to take Franklin to bed for several hours. Just not before official business and some verbal affection.

"I thought about your interview today. About your...desire to become Security chief," she said as she headed toward the replicator in the kitchen. "And your time on Galileo before Kreanus..."

As Lirha spoke about the "interview" from earlier in the day, Amaranai inwardly scolded herself because it hadn't been an interview. There were no questions, no requests. It was Amaranai being in shock as to why she was seeing Lirha and what her own expectations of the interview had been. The way that Lirha had said the word, "desire" worried Amaranai but she didn't say anything right away, choosing to let Lirha talk.

"Are you going to report me for yelling at a superior officer," she chuckled lightly. "Or for crying?"

The Orion let out a soft laugh and shook her head. "No, of course not. I encourage my officers to speak their opinions and come to me if anything's bothering them. You're no exception," she replied with a candid smile. "I remember what you told me about wanting more, and..." she paused mid-sentence to let out a soft breath accompanied by an innocent shrug, "I agree. Lieutenant Commander Wyatt is still in line to lead your department but I think a promotion is in order. A well-deserved one."

Amaranai stepped back from Lirha when she started talking about the interview and what Amaranai had said about a promotion. When Lirha mentioned a promotion, Amaranai stopped breathing for half a second, though, to her, it seemed like forever. She had felt she had deserved a promotion a long time ago and it had never come. And now it seemed as if it was here.

"A . . . promotion?" she said. "Really?"

She had heard the words, but the junior officer still didn't believe them.

"Really?" she repeated.

"Yes. And your department still needs a deputy chief. I can't think of anyone more qualified than you," Lirha replied. It might not have been the dream job Franklin was looking for, but hopefully the extra responsibility would please her.

Listening, Amaranai took in the words from her commanding officer. Deputy Chief wasn't chief but it was closer than she had been. Plus, it was a step in the right direction toward becoming chief and maybe even one day moving into command.

"Thank you," she finally said after a moment of silence. "I'm honored, surprised and happy."

Amaranai moved closer to Lirha.

"You didn't have to do this just because I was complaining, though," she continued. "I mean, I don't like still being a JG after this many years, but I've managed this long."

Lirha frowned just ever so slightly. "I didn't...you earned it. I'm just the one to recognize it. I'd be holding you back if I didn't, and you don't deserve that," she tried to explain. Despite what their intimate relationship might convey at times, the Orion captain knew it was her duty to avoid that type of influence when making command decisions. Changing her expression to offer a small smile, she looked Amaranai in the eyes. "Congratulations, lieutenant."

Amaranai smiled and even allowed a blush to reach her cheeks. She was happy to finally be a lieutenant, but even happier that Lirha was the one to promote her. Had it been anyone else, it wouldn't have felt as special.

"Thank you," she whispered. And then, after another moment of quiet, she spoke again, this time, more clearly. "Thank you, Captain," she said. "I won't take this lightly."

Amaranai moved closer to Lirha again and moved her hand along Lirha's arm.

"If the formalities are finished . . ."

She leaned in and kissed the Orion's arm through her sleeve.

It was evident to Lirha, through Amaranai's affection, exactly what she wanted. She wanted it too, and now that she'd just promoted her junior officer, she ached for some intimacy. She leaned her head in and slowly kissed the Human's earlobe. "...Do you want to f--k me, now?" she teasingly whispered as her hands started to unclip her black uniform belt.

The tickle of Lirha's lips on her earlobe was intoxicating and the words that followed were like a match to a gallon of gasoline. She took a deep breath and began to reach around her side for the zipper of her dress, pulling it down as quickly as she could, letting the gown fall to the floor quickly. Figuring that the night would escalate to this at some point, Amaranai had chosen to not wear under garments, letting Lirha get a look at her body without anything in the way.

Stepping forward and resting her green hands atop Amaranai's bare shoulders, Lirha gazed over the woman's nude form with the same admiration and lust she'd felt when they had first spent time together aboard IKS Du'JaQ. "You're as beautiful as ever," she grinned, her hands now slowly running down the sides of Amaranai's arms. Then, stepping even closer, she tiled her head slightly to the side and kissed her deeply with a healthy dose of passion. While her tongue slid into Franklin's mouth, her belt fell to the floor as she started to slide her black pants and undergarments to her ankles.

Amaranai's body tingled with the touch and charged from the excitement of what was about to happen. Her breathing started to intensify slightly with the words from Lirha and as the green-toned woman kissed her. Amaranai felt her lover's clothes hit the top of her feet and smiled into the kiss. Without even looking, Amaranai's hands began to roam the naked skin in front of her and gasped as her hands re-discovered the nooks and crannies of her well-trimmed body.

Taking the momentum of the kissing, Amaranai pushed Lirha toward the nearest wall and continued to kiss her. She then began to kiss the woman's body from her face all the way down to her toes, stopping every little bit to add extra nibbles. She stood up and took Lirha's hand in her own.

"Let's go to the bed," she smiled.

It was a proposal the Orion had waited many long months to hear, and there was now no hesitation to take their affairs to a more comfortable location. She peeled off her red uniform undershirt then unclipped her bra with her free hand and let it fall to the floor before leading Amaranai into the bedroom. As she walked, her curvy hips and bottom swayed alluringly from side to side with each step, and she looked over her shoulder seductively at the Human.

When they entered the small private chamber, the door swished closed and Lirha commanded a more appropriate ambiance. "Computer, dim lights," she instructed. The overhead glow quickly diminished until only a soft yellow hue now illuminated their two nude forms. Still holding Amaranai's hand, Lirha led her to the bed and climbed in, pulling the other woman on top of her as she settled into the sheets and laid down on her back.

Amaranai couldn't keep her body in check - it wanted - no, her body needed to feel Lirha on her. In her.

As they approached the room and Lirha turned the lights down low, Amaranai was suddenly nervous, almost as if it was their first time all over again. Amaranai climbed onto the woman and stared deeply into the eyes that had haunted her dreams. Slowly, Amaranai leaned down and began to kiss Lirha on the lips. At the same time, she began to move her hips against Lirha in a slow and steady motion to increase the pleasure between the two of them. Immediately, Amaranai was moaning and she moved her hand between Lirha's legs and started to move in opposite motion of her own hips.

The Orion's breath quickened as the kisses deepened and her hands reached up to cup Amaranai's cheeks with a new, unfound passion for her long-lost lover. Lirha then let out a muffled gasp when she felt the attention to her most private region, and in response, she spread her legs and curled her toes with delight.

With each ensuing grind against her hips, Lirha fed off of the building pleasure and closed her eyes. Her mind emptied itself of all future, past and present woes, and all that mattered now in time and space was the present -- the reality -- and those who she kept closest to her. There, in the shadows of the captain's bed aboard USS Galileo-A, the two women made love with the bright twinkle of the nearby stars to keep watch.
